About this house rental
We love this house because it is so close to what we enjoy doing, and most everything is walkable. On the grounds are 45 holes of golf on three championship golf courses designed by Scots for the Lake Placid Club. The golf course is criss-crossed with hiking trails to the mountains, and in the winter has groomed cross country ski trails. Walk from the house to the Cobble Hill trailhead for a great loop hike with wonderful views of the peaks! The shops and restaurants of Lake Placid are a short and pleasant walk. There is a nearby beach (less than 1/4 mile walk) on Mirror Lake for great swimming and boating. With a car, skiing at the Olympic Mountain of Whiteface is 15 minutes away. In all seasons, the near-by activities and attractions are nearly limitless.
Mountain Ash is a four season, totally renovated, original Lake Placid Club cottage with wonderful High Peak mountain and bobsled run views. The main level walk in features an open floor plan with great room, dining room and kitchen. There is also a master bedroom with bath, and second bedroom with fireplace. The home has four fireplaces, a lovely sun room/home office, and an enclosed hot tub room. Two additional bedrooms with four twin beds and a full bath are on the lower level. The exterior upper sun deck and lower floor screen porch are ideal for enjoying the evenings and views.

Fantastic spot to stay with family and friends.

We were in town for the annual lacrosse tournaments. My daughters were able to safely walk to town. We walked via the cut-through to the lake daily (just a few minutes). The home has a perfect location- walking distance but very quiet and peaceful. The view from the deck is stunning and my daughters enjoyed naps on the porch swing on the screen porch. My only wish is for a king sized bed.

Our family loved the location and really enjoyed being able to walk into town. There was an issue with the cleanliness of the house when we arrived but once I brought it to the owners attention she had someone come out immediately to fix it. Beth was so kind and I really appreciated her efforts to make things right. I would definitely stay here again!

This home has absolutely amazing views and is a convenient walk to town. Great place to enjoy all of the beauty Lake Placid has to offer.

My husband, two kids and I really enjoyed staying here again this year. The house is well appointed, has beautiful views, and is conveniently located, but quiet and private. The only thing I would change is the bed size in the primary bedroom from Queen to King.
We had a great time here and Beth is easy to get in touch with and very responsive.

Our Fourth winter at Mountain Ash was delightful and exceeded all of our expectations. The house is always perfect in every sense. Beth's attention to detail in its design, the comfort of the living spaces, and the serene ambiance it offered made it an ideal retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation.
What truly set this experience apart, however, was the exceptional hospitality extended by the owner.Beth's responsiveness and genuine kindness were apparent from our first interaction and continue 4 years later. Any inquiries or requests I had were met with prompt and helpful replies, ensuring a seamless and comfortable stay. The owner's dedication to creating a welcoming environment was reflected not only in the immaculate condition of the house but also in their courteous and accommodating demeanor.
The house itself boasted all the amenities one could wish for, complemented by a tasteful decor that made it feel like a home away from home. Whether it was the cozy bedrooms, the well-equipped kitchen, or the inviting living areas, every aspect of the house contributed to a sense of warmth and comfort.
If you are looking for a great ski house in close proximity Lake Placid and a short drive to Whiteface. Stay at Mountain Ash.

The house had everything we needed to explore Lake Placid. It was easy to get to town, beach, play golf and explore the neighborhood. The view from the house is incredible in addition to having the supplies we could possibly have needed.
Thank you for a great experience we can’t wait to come back.

Since this was our 4th stay at this house, we have already told everyone how wonderful the house and its location are. This time I will tell you how wonderful the property owner is. My son left a very valuable ski equipment item at the house, which was not noticed until we unpacked our cars at HOME. I immediately inboxed Beth (owner) and started working out a plan to retrieve my 18-year-old son's items. She offered us all sorts of alternatives to driving back to Lake Placid. Every alternative was at her expense and her inconvenience. Thank You, Beth! Many of these VRBO ads say the owners were "helpful and communicated well". For this property, I would say "Beth is a Saint". Not only does she communicate well, but she also saved my son from the wrath of my husband driving all the way back to Lake Placid and home again (7 hours round trip).
If you are looking for a wonderful house to rent with a Saintly Owner, an awesome location (in town, but away from the hustle), a great view, a nice hot tub, a fantastic fireplace, very comfortable new beds and stocked kitchen GO HERE.

Our family has visited a lot of different vacation homes over the course of the years, and this one by far has been our absolute favorite! The owners were responsive and transparent, and the home was exquisite -- it was beautifully appointed, spotless, and had everything we needed to make ourselves at home and enjoy our vacation. The skiing and hiking were great, and we are looking forward to trying to visit again whatever the season. Lake Placid has so many different venues to explore, and this vacation home is perfectly situated to enjoy them all.

My Family thoroughly enjoyed our extra long weekend at Mountain Ash Cottage. We had relaxation and leaf peeping in mind on this trip. The location of the cottage is the best of both worlds because it's somewhat secluded and yet a 5 minute walk to Mirrow Lake. We walked into town everyday. We also walked to the golf course on Saturday and Sunday morning. The course is absolutely stunning.
Beth and Todd are wonderful hosts. The cottage is immaculately clean and well appointed. We truly felt at home. The welcome note and bottle of wine were much appreciated. We would love to stay at their cottage again this ski season.

This property is within walking distance of golf courses and the fabulous downtown in Lake Placid. We were able to leave the property and walk around Mirror Lake every night. The view from the very large wall-sized front windows is breathtaking. Property is well-appointed with everything you need for a great stay. We were summer visitors, however, this property would be equally stunning for winter stays.

We can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was for our daughter’s wedding weekend. The notecard, bottle of champagne and gorgeous fresh flowers were so pleasant to walk into. We were in awe of the incredible views, which made for a beautiful backdrop for “father/daughter first look.” The kitchen/dining area was very spacious and so well stocked, which was perfect for our younger daughter to make the wedding cake and for my husband to make 150 chocolate dipped strawberries! The house was spotless and provided so many amenities. Beth was extremely responsive and wonderful to work with. And you certainly can’t beat the location! It all went so quickly, we’ll have to come back to experience it again!

We had such an amazing time at Beth’s home. The house is beautiful and clean, great location. At first it may seem like a long walk to Mirror Lake but it’s really not-only 6 min down the road. The beach is right there which was perfect for us because we had two little ones. We loved the outdoor balcony with Adirondack chairs and also discovered the downstairs enclosed porch. We loved staying here and hope to come back next year! We biked, hiked and went to the beach all week. Something for everyone! Thank you so much! Sharon See and family

Perfect location for our family get away. Easy access to the Lake Placid Club mountain bike trails and a short walk to the beach and all that town has to offer. The house was as described and clean. The kitchen was well supplied for cooking meals and plenty of room in the house on the rare occasions we weren't enjoying the area.

Lake Placid's newest Go-to!
Empire State Games 2022 Trip!
Our Mountain Ash experience started in an ice storm that turned into 15 inches of snow. The owner's plow company was waiting to make sure we could get up the driveway, which was not difficult considering the conditions and we have 4-wheel drive. The plow guy came back every few hours to make sure we could get out to make the Empire State Winter Games events at Whiteface.
The house: Only pictures can do it justice. The view, the decor, and just the inviting nature of the house were worth it. The house was scrubbed clean, and the owners left a day between visitors for COVID precautions. I don't just mean "clean". I tell you would never know dogs or kids were allowed in the house.
The beds were comfortable. The downstairs was perfect for sending the teenagers away. The vestibule was heated for all our ski gear—the perfect ski house.
The office ( I was forced to work the first day) view is to die for and made the fact I had to work a lot less stressful.
The kitchen was stocked with everything you could think of. Except for a pizza cutter, we'll bring one next time and leave it for you all.
The living room is inviting and comfortable. We had teenagers fighting for the couch by the fireplace.
The neighborhood, now being on a golf course, you'd think it would be a little ....mmmm. NOPE! This was one of the friendliest neighborhoods I have been in. 4-Days there, and people were yelling, "Hi Julie. How are the winter games going?" One couple even offered to take our Black lab cross skiing with them.
The owners: Before we even got there, Beth asked us what we needed and made sure we could even make the trip with the impending snowstorm. She even left me wine and coffee, knowing it may be challenging to get to the store.
I give everything about this trip Olympic Gold. My family will be back again this ski season and for many years to come.

Amazing stay at Mountain Ash House
We had a wonderful stay with my parents and children at the Mountain Ash House. The house is beautiful and the views are spectacular. The house was very well appointed - we had everything we needing to make a full Thanksgiving dinner. We really appreciated the location, surrounded by natural beauty but an easy walk to shops and restaurants in town. Beth was incredibly responsive and the booking and check-in process went smoothly. We were so sad to leave and are already planning our next trip back!

Wonderful Stay at Mountain Ash!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Mountain Ash over Columbus Day weekend! The house is perfectly located; within the Lake Placid Club and a quick 5 minute walk down to Mirror Lake. We loved being able to walk into town so easily and the walk around Mirror Lake was a favorite during our visit. The house is also within driving distance of so many amazing hikes.
The house is set up perfectly for a family or group, as there is tons of space to spread out. The beds were quite comfortable and having 3 separate bathrooms is ideal. The entire house was sparkling clean and the kitchen had every type of utensil; glassware; pans etc. you could need. There is a TV in the main room and in one of the downstairs bedrooms but we hardly used them because of everything there is to do in town and around the property. We loved the collection of books in the living room to peruse as well.
Each morning we enjoyed sitting on the porch in the Adirondack chairs with our coffees and at sunset with a glass of wine. We also really loved the front “reading room” and it would be a great spot if you have to do some work while on vacation. There is also a downstairs screened in porch which is perfect for reading or an afternoon nap.
We really fell in love with Lake Placid on this visit and cannot wait to return, and Mountain Ash is the perfect home base to explore such a wonderful place! We cannot wait to return!
