About this house rental
Welcome to The Gifford Homestead! Built in 1870 by Jeremiah Gifford, this 4 Bed, 1.5 Bath house is one of the original houses in the village of Lakewood. The house sits on a private, wooded 1.3 acre lot, and is a .2 mile walk to the lake and private dock (less than 5 mins).
There are 4 bedrooms (the house sleeps 8) plus a dedicated office on the second floor. Computer monitor and keyboard / mouse are there for your use. If you have a laptop, just plug in and you're ready to work! (Wifi Provided!)
There are two baths, one full upstairs and a half bath on the first floor. The kitchen is fully stocked (pots and pans, dishes, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, crock pot, hand mixer, etc.) and there are also lots of restaurants (and yes a Starbucks!) just a short drive away.
There is plenty of room on the first floor with a den area, a dinette area, plus a large formal living room and dining room. There is a first floor laundry area as well.
The lot is wooded and has plenty of areas to explore. There's a creek with a little bridge over it, a sandbox for the kids, a hammock for afternoon naps and a tree swing. There is a covered back porch with porch swing, a great place to have your morning coffee or glass of wine at the end of the day.

Regarding bringing your boat: we have a dock slip at the local marina so you can bring your boat and keep it in the water for the duration of your stay!
The dock is located at Ready About Sailing in Celoron, a 9 minute drive from the house. Dock slips include the launching of the boat (crane or ramp), Wi-Fi, complimentary ice, electricity & water. The slip is for a boat up to 20' long. If your boat is larger than that, Ready About Sailing charges $15 per day.

Stayed for an extended weekend with a group of 7 women and we loved the property! We had plenty of space to spread out and enjoyed the short walk to the lake!

Enjoyed our stay at Renovated Farmhouse. The dock was a very quick walk down the street where we enjoyed many hours of fishing and gorgeous views of Lake Chautauqua! It was a great location as we were 1.5 miles from Southern Tier Brewery and a short drive from both Chautauqua Institute and Bemus Point.
Lots of grocery stores in the area plus dining and ice cream shops.
Host has thought of everything from toys for kids to a fire pit for adults. House had plenty of space for 8 people.
Garage was locked so we were not able to take trash out.

We had a wonderful trip. Friends joined us on the first evening and we were able to entertain everyone out on the patio and the kids loved having space to run around outside. The house is lovely and well equipped with pretty much anything you may need.

The house is charming, spacious. Close to village. The yard is amazing. We loved the fire pit. Getting our luggage up the stairs was a work out!
The short walk to lake was nice, dock in great shape.
All in all we were pleased, I think the house could have used some attention to detail - the cushions on patio set in front are green from sitting in rain too long. There were a few cobwebs here and there. We had no access to trash and recyclables bins - they were locked inside garage, so we had to leave all that in kitchen. I think we would definitely stay again!

We loved this home. The home is mature, but completely updated! The pictures really do the home justice! This is a great location with everything within a short drive. The neighborhood is very quiet and the yard is beautifully landscaped with lots of trees and shade! A great back covered patio with lots of room for gathering and a really nice gas grill. The rooms are large with 9+ foot ceilings, lots of windows. Everything needed was available. Lots of towels and other household supplies, gas for the grill, toys and games for kids. While we didn't have children, this is a very kid-friendly home including a high chair and kid-safe dishes. The owner provided a booklet with everything we needed to know with lots of recommendations and tips for the area. We would stay here again, without hesitation.

Beautifully renovated farmhouse close to the lake, shopping, and a brewery!
We had a really nice time at this property. It was comfy and close to everywhere we wanted to go. With only one TV, it forced the teenagers to find other things to do!
