About this campground/ rv resort rental
Put all your worries behind you as you cross the Island bridge and enter the small community of Harkers Island. The High Tider Retreat, provides the quaint coziness you need to relax and enjoy the island life.
You'll be just around the corner from all the local hotspots. Billy's the local grocery store is just a walk or quick golf cart ride away. Be sure to get some of their fresh cut meats and hot breakfast sausage (our FAVORITE). Also, nearby is the Fish Hook Grill, Seaside Restaurant, and the Shark Island Eats food truck at the end of the island (Some places are only open seasonal). During your stay, be sure to schedule a day and take the ferry to Cape Lookout Lighthouse, see the Shackelford Banks Wild Horses, check out Sand Dollar Island, tour the Island and Small Waterfront of Beaufort, listen to the waves crash on Atlantic Beach, and take a tour of the famous Core Sound Waterfowl Museum. Lastly Don't forget to check out Down East Kayak Rentals to take a quick kayak around island and catch the magnificent sunsets. You can always relax at the Harkers Island Beach Access that is located right when get off the bridge onto the Island.
The modern southern style decorating greets you at the driveway and is continued throughout the home. The open concept Living and kitchen area are great for entertaining during your stay. The Primary Bedroom suite offers a comfy King bed and smart-tv with attached bathroom and walk in shower. The second bedroom on the opposite side of the home offers a Queen bed, next is the shared bathroom and then the third bedroom with a Trundle Twin bed. For additional sleeping, snuggle up on the couch in the Living Room.
The backyard boasts a grilling area for all the fresh fish you will catch during your stay. As well as a worry free fenced in yard to watch your fur babies run while napping in the hammock or having a drink at the outdoor table. The front yard offers plenty of parking for your boat and toys during your stay. You'll be conveniently located to the nearest boat ramp at the Harkers Island Fishing Center, beside Billys store.
The kitchen is stocked with all the cookware and dinnerware you'll need to enjoy your stay. The linens are all sanitized with bleach to ensure top quality cleanliness. The washer and dryer are available for your stay in the laundry room.
Beach Options
Harkers Island Beach Access - approx 2 miles from the house, its right when you get off bridge to the island. It is on the sound. There is free limited parking.
Atlantic Beach, NC - This is the coast of NC, where you will pay to park and be on the actual beach. This option is 23 miles away. Plenty of parking.
Ferry to the Cape Lookout Lighthouse - THE BEST and MOST FUN option. This is what we do most weekends. You'll drive down to the end of the island (approx 1 mile), hop on the large passenger ferry boat (my uncle is one of their captains) and go to the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. Which offers a sandy beach sound side to hang out, or walk over to the other side and lay by the actual beach. Also, can climb the lighthouse. For the Ferry Option you would need to book in advance and pay the fee (they offer numerous trips to and from during the day)
BUT WAIT, want to invite more family that has a camper or motorhome? We have a 50AMP full service hookup, for an additional fee of $50 per night. Just send us a message to set this up!
Pets are allowed with an additional $200 non-refundable fee. They must be house trained.

We loved both the property and the neighborhood. Plenty of space to accommodate our family of 6. The home was comfortable and well stocked for our stay. Would highly recommend this home for your vacation to the crystal coast.

We loved our stay. The place was so clean and welcoming. Cape lookout was fantastic and the water was beautiful. We said so many times it looked like bahama water, not sure if it was the time of the year. We are ready to go back to Harkers Island, we loved the seclusion of it. Thank you Cody for letting us stay in your little slice of heaven. See you next year

My family frequented Harkers island as a child and now returning as an adult brought back many fond memories. This place is the perfect get away and was an excellent escape even during one of the busiest times of the year for the surrounding areas!

We really appreciated the flexibility afforded us, allowing us to bring all 3 of our girls (dogs). The High Tider Retreatâs cleanliness was excellent, the kitchen was wonderfully equipped (minus a dishwasher), and the layout was ideal with plenty of space for the dogs to run. Only complaint was the misquotes - a few of which made their way inside because we arrived after dark and it had rained earlier. While we donât fish, we really enjoyed taking the Ferry to Cape Lookout and we spent a couple of afternoons on the beach in Salters Path (between Atlantic Beach & Emerald Isle). Definitely recommend this place for anyone who enjoys fishing!

Located close to 3 different boat ramps with plenty of room to park vehicles and boat. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Would definitely stay there again.

Awesome find, super happy we found this for our trip! The house was so so clean and inviting. Stocked with beach stuff ( cooler , umbrella , chairs ) incase you forgot yours. Awesome fenced in back yard for the pups with a safe and spacious area. Nice neighborhood/location , was very peaceful! Would book again 10 out of 10!

We enjoyed our stay, the listing was as described. The house was fully furnished with everything needed. Owners even provided us with a Bluetooth speaker as we forgot ours at home. Everyone enjoyed their stay even the dog! And when it rained, we enjoyed ice cream from the local gift shop/restaurant. We have already recommended this place to friends that have expressed an interest in visiting Down East!

We loved our stay here! The house was very clean and stocked with everything you need for a home away from home experience. The suggestion book was very helpful. We plan to revisit soon!

We truly enjoyed staying at the High Tide Retreat at Harkers Island! The property was true to the description and we had everything we needed. The location is awesome and walking distance to a great restaurant and small grocery store. We did a lot of exploring in Beaufort which is a beautiful short drive away. My 8 year old grandson really enjoyed cape lookout and fishing on the nice pier at the new bridge onto the island. We will definitely stay here again. Cody was very responsive and helpful during our stay!

This was a absolutely beautiful little gem! The island is so cute and quiet! Great location for cape lookout and sounding towns! What a beautiful place clean, convenient and absolute gem! Definitely a place I would go back too!

Rental was clean, well stocked and adequate linens were provided. Cody was prompt and attentive to details re: checking in and out. Our pup enjoyed the fenced in backyard and we enjoyed the grill provided. I canât even think of any recommendations that would make this a better experience except a hot tub. Those muscles get sore after fishing. Overall, a wonderful much needed respite during a difficult time.

This little house was exactly what we needed for a quick weekend to see the stars. It was exactly as pictured and very clean. There were 4 of us staying and it fit all of us perfectly. The location is perfect and very close to the only grocery store on the island. We hope to be able to stay here again soon.

My husband and son love to fish, and found this property perfect for a place to get away, along with bringing wife and baby. They had a close proximity to the Marina to launch the boat, and we also enjoyed a family day visiting museum, and taking the ferry to the lighthouse. Cody was responsive to our needs, and the property fit our family perfectly

We had an awesome stay! Clean, inviting and the owner was definitely easy to get a hold of and very quick to respond!! We did bring our small dog which was great! So appreciated this being pet friendly!!
I will say though that the fencing at this home is more suggestive than sturdy. The back fence is wire mesh and has some holes & the wooden panels on the side are high enough that a small dog can fit under, this was not a problem for our dog because she is boundary oriented. The fence was perfect for us, it was just enough that I felt I could let her off leash!! We did watch her when she went out or go out with her not only because of the fence but because of her size and the owls/hawks.
We really enjoyed our stay and loved our stay!! Hope to stay again!

Exceptionally clean, cozy, well-appointed and easily accessible property in a nice quiet neighborhood. Our 2-year old boxer loved the beautifully maintained, fenced-in back yard. Very convenient to the Cape Lookout ferry (a must-do for anyone visiting for the first time) two different boat ramps and a great little grocery store. Just a short trip to Beaufort, Morehead City and Atlantic Beach. The owner of the High Tider Retreat answered all of our questions prior to check-in and was a pleasure to deal with. Canât say enough good things about how well-furnished and clean this property is. It was our first trip to Harkers Island and we werenât disappointed. Would definitely stay here again

We loved our stay at the High Tider Retreat, the house was perfect for our family of 6. Beds are so comfortable, perfect living space and kitchen, we loved that it was so close to the ferry, we were able to visit Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks, absolutely gorgeous!!!
Check in and check out process were so easy, highly recommended.

The place was perfect. The property was great for my dog. My only complaint is the beach access is very misleading. Beach access on the island is over 2 miles from the property and itâs not the beach. Itâs a small area right next to the bridge in the sound. The water is not ideal to swim in. The beach is over a 30 minute drive away

Cody was very prompt and extremely helpful. The place was beautiful getaway. Highly recommend.

The High Tider was a fabulous property for our family! Immaculately clean and the perfect amount of space. Location was great....just a mile or so from the Harker's Island beach access and a short drive to places like Beaufort and Atlantic Beach. I loved how quiet the area was, away from the hustle and bustle of a normal beach town. Cody was super prompt with communication and very accommodating. Highly recommend this lovely little hideaway!!

The property was awesome, it was a very laid back and relaxed vacation, the beach was awesome and wasn't very busy any of the times we went. The only downfall of the entire trip, the locals aren't very friendly, but other than that the trip was a blast.

Enjoyable retreat
Although it rained for the duration of our trip, we really enjoyed our stay at the Hightider. The trailer is tastefully decorated, comfortable, and well-equipped. The fenced in backyard was an absolute treat for the pups. We said several times that we wished we could pick up the trailer and take the whole property with us on our road trip.

What a lovely place. My family loved it here and we hope to return. It was affordable, has plenty of space, provides you with all the basics, and it was clean. The owners were so, so helpful and answered so many of my questions. They are really great people and it shows with this rental. We have told friends and family about this place and we already have people asking us how they can book! Such a beautiful area and I say book it already!
