Our stay at Les Vagabonds du Mont was incredible and exceeded all expectations. We stayed Friday to Sunday in the middle of a tour of France. After spending time in some Alpine cities, our stay in Chichilliane was a relaxing antidote to the hustle and bustle of the city.
We were met by Danielle, who gave us a wonderfully warm welcome.
The food was excellent - homemade, local, informal and very enjoyable. The owners are clearly proud of their region and its produce, and it really showed. The fresh bread, local yoghurts and honey at breakfast were delicious, as were the local beers and biodynamic wines. The picnic that was prepared for our hike around Mont Aiguille was superb - tasty sandwiches, a pasta salad, fruit and a soft drink.
The property itself was charming and spacious. The courtyard was a highlight - a great spot for reading, relaxing and enjoying the evening meals (there was the option to eat inside in bad/cold weather, but this wasn't needed).
The rooms were well equipped, though slightly dated - but this wasn't an issue, and only added to the charm. It really did feels as though we were escaping to better times gone by!
If you're looking for a relaxing escape, in a quiet village, with nothing to do but take in the incredible nature... look no further.
Thank you for a wonderful stay, and we wish you every success. Until next time!

The constant ringing of the bells from the church… hard to sleep

Lovely evening meal in the perfect setting of the courtyard. Very kind to my wife. She arrived with a sprained ankle and they immediately brought ice cold water from the fountain to bathe her foot. Extremely nice host and the most friendly dog in the world.

Absolutely stunning building with lots of original character, beautiful restored by the owners. Breakfast was delicious, sourced from local suppliers making it all the more special.

The hosts are very friendly. Breakfast, included in the rate, was very good and sustained us well for the walks. The evening meals and picnics (to reserve in advance, additional fee) were home made and/or used locally sourced products - nice flavours, copious, good value for money. Large, comfortable bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and mountain view. Excellent location for tour of Mont Aiguille.

nice location, close to the hiking area around Mont Aiguille, but you should plan where to eat (breakfast and dinner) in advance. the place is an old Château with an imposant fireplace (could have been very romantic of the fire we also burning)
instead of breakfast, we just had morning tea/coffee with jam that would be ok if we knew this in advance (no cheese, salami, eggs) and could plan accordingly (initially we planned to go hiking directly, but instead we spent time looking for breakfast.
we stayed in October and during the night it was a bit cold even though the heating was on (max).
