We very much liked the historic, quaint and cosy atmosphere this place has. The 15th century cottage itself is beautifully renovated, has a nice small terraced garden to sit in and is located in a tiny, quiet village with a lovely pub within walking distance surrounded by other beautiful villages, towns and nature parks (such as Sherwoord Forest). Larger towns like Lincoln, Newark-on-Trent and Nottingham are well within reach when travelling by car.
As our stay has been superb, I feel like a nitpicker naming these, but if I had to summon up some negative points they would be: the inventory could use an update: with such a nicely facilitated kitchen with a five burner stove it would be great if there were more than one frying pan, preferably of adequate quality. If there were 6 knives added to the inventory there would be no need to have to wash them by hand as there were too few. Really, that's about it.

Gorgeous location and the cottage has bags of character. It’s within easy reach of lots of places to see. The village is lovely and tranquil and we had a very relaxing stay.
There’s nothing not to like.

The cottage was really well decorated with all the things you need. Small but perfect for us.
The rooms are rather warm upstairs but they provide fans.

Property is set in a very picturesque location but you will need a car to get too and from. The cottage itself was very quaint and we really enjoyed our stay here. Visited as a four and the cottage was perfect for us, and contained everything we needed. Would highly recommend!
Beds could have been a little less soft, but that's personal preference.

A pretty, peaceful location.
I didn't realise that Sykes were part of Booking.com . Its a shame, as Booking.com never reply to queries.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week staying in Auld Cottage. The cottage was very clean on arrival and decorated beautifully, with so much character. Our favourite part of the cottage was having the log burner, and we were kindly left with some wood for our arrival and were able to buy more wood in the nearby town. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a washing machine. There was underfloor heating downstairs which was perfect as the tiles weren't cold. There was so much to do for us as a young family and really appreciated the suggestions of places to go in the welcome pack. We tried a few of the suggestions and our children really loved the days out!
It's hard to find something negative to say about this cottage, the only thing we found was that the mattress in the main bedroom wasn't as comfortable as the second room. Would thoroughly recommend staying here!

We stayed in a pretty carefully restored cottage which was cosy, warm, clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was there for our stay. The area was near to many places of interest. The information provided on the history of the local area was interesting to read. Useful to have parking. Lovely touches eg child's chair in 2nd bedroom, bean bag and retro modern technology.
The only things I can think of that maybe could be improved are minor eg the small sink in the bathroom, which actually was really attractive and fine for washing hands and cleaning teeth, but a little small for shaving, and maybe a larger bathroom mirror. As the cottage was built in 1512 it would have been really interesting to see before and after pictures of the cottage and to know a bit more about its history if it is available.

Location amazing, such a nice quiet village with friendly locals.

Great location! 100 yards from the village shop and pub. The locals were all friendly and welcoming. The cottage is directly against a road but it’s a quiet country road.
Our young children loved the cottage. As parents with young children we were conscious of the road with no gated area between the rear area and the driveway.
