About this apartment rental
Small but stylish, this studio flat set in an ancient convent suits a solo traveller or a couple wanting a quaint getaway. It's a tiny flat – there are no two ways about it – but host Sara has made the most of the space. The design is eye-catching and trendy, with three-dimensional mirrored splashback, funky jungle wallpaper and shimmery curtains, and the whole place is utterly spotless. Plus, Sara hasn't overlooked a single detail – the welcome gift of fruit and wine made us feel right at home, while the toiletries in the bathroom (there's everything from slippers to cotton swabs and toothbrushes) are just icing on the cake. In the evenings, take your bottle of wine up to the communal roof and watch the sunset over Rome's rooftops. Centrally located between Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum (just a fifteen-minute walk away), Monti is the perfect spot to live like a local. Cobblestone streets are lined with vintage stores, chic cafes and artisan shops – whether you're people-watching at the fountain in Piazza della Madonna dei Monti or chatting over aperitivo at one of the lively bars, you'll be smack-dab in the heart of the action here.
Home truths:
*We've already mentioned it, but this place is small, and as it's a studio, there is no separation between the kitchen area and the bedroom
*Unsurprisingly, there's no washing machine or dishwasher – however, there are laundrettes nearby, plus with so many excellent restaurants on your doorstep, we think you'll spend most of your time dining out
*The windows look onto the internal courtyard, not onto the street, so there's no view and sometimes it lacks natural light
*While there is a lift, there's also a short flight of stairs to reach it
