I did not receive information on how to check in. We were already mentally preparing to spend the night in the car if we wouldn't find any help. Eventually, after a call with booking.com, they read to us check in information that was supposed to be sent to us, but was never sent.

Unfortunately the water levels in the nearby lake were very low. Otherwise it would have been even more beautiful

It was beautifully positioned in a really nice calm environment. The staff was really nice (gave us locations to visit and gave us free food afterwards) and everything was nice and clean
The WiFi isn’t that good

We loved our stay!
Completely surrounded by nature with a direct access to the lake and forrest.
Very quiet day and night, perfect for a peaceful retreat in nature.
It was a pleasure to meet Mr Kragemann the owner, he's friendly and cheerful, Do take his advice and swim in the lake : It was great.
We didn't try the sauna and cold natural bath but we will definitely go back again to try.
The place was recently renovated, good size for 2 people and the kitchenette had the main amenities.
In case you forgot to shop you have a mini supermarket available (pasta, wine, coffee, sandwiches, etc ..) in the outer kitchen.
There is a big terrace for lunch but also a big shared kitchen space in case of bad weather.
Rursee , Simmerath and Monschau are closeby for a visit during the day.
I definitely recommend!

What a beautiful little escape! The area was really beautiful with direct access to the lake for swimming and paddle boarding. Also a quick drive to towns with cute restaurants and other amenities. I'd definitely like to return. The room itself was clean and simple.
The main "bed" was actually just a very uncomfortable sofa bed. My adult friend and I ended up sleeping "toe to toe" in the two single beds arranged next to each other long-ways. It was quite an awkward way to sleep. It would be good to ensure it's known there's no real double bed in this room type.

The place is a true bird paradise. They start singing at 5 am.
We couldn’t see the lake from our terras. The view was blocked by bushes behind the picknick tables.

It's really calm place with nice opportunities for BBQ,walks, relax. We'll go again in the autumn.
Do groceries before you go there.

What a great find! A perfect place for active people, immersed in nature. You can swim, bike and run right from your apartment in a fantastic area, it's a triathlete's paradise. And if you're feeling lazy you can grab one of the electric steps that are available for guests, of just relax in the sauna.
We are definitely going back!
The closest convenience store is about 2-3km away, and it only carries the bare necessities. Highly recommended to get your groceries somewhere else, before you arrive.
There is no oven in the apartment, not even a microwave oven.

We really enjoyed the peace and quiet - especially that during our 1st week (out of 2) we were the only guests at the Schilsbachtal. 2,2 km from the little town below, snuggled at the corner of the lake, among all the trees it made us feel so far from all the noise and rush... Loved the mornings, when opening the door/window you could hear the birds, the nearby spring rustling and nothing more than nature. During warmer days sitting on the terrace, with a tea, reading or just looking at the trees was pure bliss. The deck chair on the terrace was very comfy!
I need to mention the bed too - 10/10, slept like a baby.
Because a few days at the beginning of our stay were still a bit winter-ish, spending some evenings in the sauna to deeply soak in that warmth was very pleasant and really relaxing.
The hosts were helpful and kind - offered to help us with groceries (as we came by bus/train and the by foot) and generally nice people to talk to :)
We wished we could stay longer...
Maybe one useful tip for people coming here not exactly during the vacation season - keep in mind that most places (of the few) in the nearby town are going to be closed, not working fully, so it is better to bring some food with you (especially if you are a vegan) - all the basic cooking utensils are there. If you have a car you can go shop in a bigger town in the area, but we managed by bus/foot too, with no problem :)

We loved the comfortable bed and the location: Opening up your front door in the morning and hearing the soothing sound of the river and the birds. They had a sauna available and not time-regulated to I went at night when it was really cold, and then dived in the river (they had digged an area especially for this). The hosts were very sweet, we were hungry when we arrived and they offered us some Ferrerro :) They are very helpful and kind in general.
We loved everything! One warning if you travel there though: Think about bringing your own food/breakfast and drinks before you arrive, especially if you come during winter: The area has only one little market and few options available (most cafes and restaurants also are closed during winter/covid times).
It was not a problem for us, but I can imagine that if you come unprepared and think about doing your groceries here or eating out, it's going to be challenging unless you drive way further out of the area :)
