We spent 5 wonderful days with friends at the Sarsgrum holiday home. We didn't lack anything. Great furnishings, great view and location. We just felt at home.
We went on lots of trips and definitely want to come again.

A super property in an amazing location. Very peaceful and so much wildlife to see.
The views are outstanding.
Our disappointment was that the property was listed with a hot tub. There wasn’t one.
I’m sure the owner meant that there was a bathtub, but nevertheless we felt short changed as we were expecting a hot tub for our special anniversary.
This was immediately changed by the owners when I pointed out the issue when we arrived.
Apart from this disappointment, everything else is wonderful.

Exceptional quality of the experience in the wonderful home and surrounding countryside. Cannot say enough about our generous hosts

Myself and a group of friends decided to have some time away in the highlands, and booked here. The house is amazing. The view is incredible, and it’s hard to beat the wonderfully isolated beautiful location. That said, Durness is only 3 miles down the road with a lovely shop for all the essentials.
The host is very responsive, and overall absolutely wonderful. Would highly recommend. We all had an amazing time.

Fabulous location. Amazing view out of every window. The cottage was comfortable and had everything one could hope for for a relaxing stay.
Will definitely return. Even managed to see the Northern lights from the property on the last night.
House owner and housekeeper were both available at any time time we needed to ask anything. Highly recommend a stay at Sarsgrum !!! 😊

Lovely, spacious house with an amazing view, great for relaxing in and watching the wild weather outside.

We had a lovely week at Sarsgrum House, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views. The location is absolutely stunning and more than lived up to expectations. We didn't have the best of weather but it didn't stop us from getting out and about, walking the dogs at local beaches (our favourite being Balnakeil) and visiting the craft village and Smoo Cave. The house itself is lovely and has everything you need including comfy beds and cosy log fire. It was a real escape from it all kind of holiday. Would definitely recommend to others.
On a practical level, the local Spar is surprisingly well stocked. We'd also recommend fish and chips at the Smoo Cave Hotel.

This is an attractive, comfortable and well-provisioned property. We appreciated the electric blankets! The location is stunning and access to local sites good (down single-tracked road). Good outdoor space for dog. We weren't sure how to estimate electricity usage for fridge, heating and kitchen appliances so it might have been helpful to suggest typical usage for a week. But the guidance on keys and appliances and fire was clear and helpful. Excellent communication with owner. Recommended: we would return in a flash if we could!

Sarsgrum is a beautiful home with a view over the Kyle. You could sit all day at the picture window watching the wildlife and weather changing. The area is one of our favourites in the world. We hope to return.

We had a wonderful 10 days in Sarsgrum.
The house is very nice and cosy. The views from the house across the Kyle of Durness are just breathtaking and so are the beaches around Durness and Oldshoremore ( don“t forget to bring a wetsuit though). We definitely consider coming back!

Really lovely house in a wonderful location.
Great to stay in on a rainy day as the views are stunning and the house feels spacious. All the cooking and baking amenities are there.
The surrounding area has many beaches and local little hills that can be climbed from the door (mostly bog walking, but ok in summer). The firth in front of the house also serves as a great cold water swimming spot.
Only drawback is the lack of reliable wifi, but that's good for wanting to stay off the grid.

We had the most relaxing time here great views, comfortable plenty of space and amenities. Loved the location watching the tides while seeing and hearing the sheep. The hiking was so much fun right out the front door!

Great location for hikes . House has everything you need. Just one thing add another £30 pound a day for electricity. And it was really cold inside when we arrive .

House was very comfortable. We spend great time in family. Great view from the terrace watching the movements of the sea tides. Beautiful colours at dawn and sunset. Our host Gillie has been very welcoming.

We had a wonderful relaxing Christmas enjoying lots of down time reading walking playing games and having quality time, the cottage is just as it’s described in the advert if anything the rooms are bigger than we thought sofas beds extremely comfortable great selection of cooking utensils pots pans etc the woodburner was very efficient though the heating was all that was needed if you don’t enjoy a fire, about 10.30/11 most mornings we sat at the kitchen table and watched a sea otter splashing around which was wonderful, unfortunately no northern lights ……. There are several fantastic sandy beaches within east reach our dogs had a fab time just like us, many thanks for sharing Sarsgrum.

We chose this cottage to visit the area and we'll return to stay in this cottage. It was absolutely wonderful. It could not have been any more perfect.
Location is superb - so lovely sitting in the window seat watching the tides ebb and flow. We saw otters and birds and even a cheeky wee ermine running into the garden! It's also well located for the aurora borealis which was visible on two nights of our stay.
The cottage itself is exceptional. The furniture is top notch and so comfortable. The wood burner is so cosy. The snug is great and we could stream films on the TV with our fire stick. Wifi is unusually good for somewhere so remote.
Bedding is high quality and we had the best sleep in the giant comfy bed. Plenty hot water for showers.
There's a little path down to the beach and a nice walk around when the tide is out. You are spoilt for good walks in this area though - Balnakeil, Ceannabeinne and of course the Durness beaches are sensational. Shop is very well stocked.
We're already planning a return visit. Thank you so much, Gillie. We needed this break and we were sad to leave but completely refreshed and restored.

We wish we could have stayed longer. The house was clean and comfy with a well stocked kitchen. Loved the wood stove which we used two nights. The bed were perfect and it was so quiet I slept like a rock. We would come again in the winter even thought many things in the area were closed. Durness had two stores with food supplies. Great stay!!!

We spent a beautiful week in Ireland and a second in the Highlands. This was the place to let all of our impressions settle. Walks on the beaches close to Durness, sitting in front of the fire, having meals together, watching the tide fill and drain the Kyle, squalls, rainbow and the full moon - so relaxing & restoring - our young adults loved it as much as their middle-aged parents! Thank you!

Such a beautiful home in such a beautiful location! Just what we needed. Spent many a moment gazing at the views from the windows. The most spectacular beaches, walks and scenery on the doorstep. Loved every minute of it. A real gem of a home.

We had a very comfortable stay at Sarsgrum House. It is a beautifully presented house that is practical and cozy. Very clean throughout.
The position of the house on the shores of the Kyle of Durness is dramatic and the view from the kitchen window is amazing.
There is lots to do in the local area. Durness is 2 miles up the road and the coastline and beaches are fantastic. We also enjoyed exploring further south around Oldshoremore and Sheigra - just a 40 minute drive - brilliant beaches and sea cliffs for rock climbing.
Communication with the host Gillie was very good at all times and we would certainly recommend staying at Sarsgrum.
