About this cabin rental
Enjoy the natural surroundings at Moosehead Lake and Lily Bay State Park on this remote island property only accessed by boat. The cabin is off-grid but well-equipped for cooking, living, and relaxing. Swimming, sauna, hiking, exploring, hunting, fishing and boating are all steps away! Bring your boat, we are on an island. We will also recommend boat rentals in the area. The cabin sleeps 12 in a combination of rooms, bunks and lofts. Linens can be rented directly from us. When you're visiting Sugar Shack, "Reconnecting with Nature" is the suggested out-of-office autoreply. We love the escape from technology and hope you will as well.

We had a lovely stay with our family. We enjoyed swimming, fishing and the beautiful sunsets. The mornings were quiet and peaceful.
The “lawn” areas are not manicured so grass is over grown. The house was nice but there were so many cobwebs we definitely had to do a good wipe down before we could sit in pertain spots. No one wanted to sleep in the smaller bunk too many unknown critters could be present there. Overall a lovely time

The property is truly an oasis, embedded deep in nature with no other people around. You'll find plenty of peaceful space to decompress while relaxing in comfortable and stunning surroundings.
However, be prepared for what "disconnected" really means! If you don't have your own boat, accessing the site is hundreds of dollars additional and difficult to arrange. (Fitted sheets were also $160 additional.) Space for food is limited, so prioritize compact non-perishables, and be prepared to carry out all your own trash without a public dumpster at the State Park. (We were able to make last minute arrangements, but that was an expectation.) Electric is limited to a couple hours each day off a gas generator, plus a couple small standalone batteries. Lighting and hot water are propane. Water is all pumped from the lake with the gas generator and then sediment-filtered, without any disinfectant step. We completely lost running water twice, but Dave (a superstar!) of Big Lake Concierge arrived to fix it within hours. There were also dead mice and feces in the sleeping and living quarters upon arrival.
If you want a true "return to nature" experience, you won't find a more serene property. Just be prepared for everything "rustic" entails.

Everything was as expected except for the water pressure. It was very difficult to take showers and wash dishes as the water pressure was at a trickle most of the time. We did try to conserve with flushing of toilets and actually doing dishes in the the lake. Other than that the house was wonderful and fun. I would say the maximum amount of guests should be advertised as 7.

This camp was stunning. Loved the amenities, well equipped in a gorgeous setting. There was plenty of sleeping accommodations. The property was well taken care of. We ran out of propane for a number of days and the key to the sauna didn't arrive until Wednesday, but to us those were minor issues. The lake can be very rough in that area and rocks are definitely an issue close to the dock on both sides, It would be a good idea to be an experienced boater for docking or have a smaller boat. We had a fantastic stay and would mist definitely rent this camp again.
