we love this because...
As we drive into Metung and catch our first glimpse of Chinamans Creek with boats and yachts securely moored in the still blue water we feel the cares of the world drop away.
There is always a sense of excitement as we open the door of The Mariner and enter a different world. A world of ships and history where you can be the captain of your own adventure.
We love the dark moody hallway as you enter reminiscent of the lower deck steerage on a boat with cabin numbers on the doors and interiors that can take you to the 1940s.
Walking up the steps to the dark and moody Captains Quarters with portraits of the infamous 'Sea Dogs' and a cosy fire, built in bookcase and day bed. We pick out a book that sends us back to our childhood and curl up under the reading lamp. On sunny days we open the doors and sit on the deck looking out to the lake and the water.
On the upper level the light and bright lounge is reminiscent of an ocean liners deck complete with lifejacket and water hose. Such a beautiful light an bright space with dining and a galley style kitchen.
On this level is the master suite with four poster bed and window seat, the first class 'cabin' with ensuite.
For the best lunch or dinner, we take a short stroll to the Metung Hotel (locally known as the Pub) and always book a table with a view. Its always bustling so you have to book. For breakfast, we eat at Aroma Coffee House or we head into Lakes Entrance and buy fresh prawns off the boats and come back and sit outside with local wine and feast.

What fun! a new house to visit that lets (SMALL) four-legged friends like me sleep inside.
Yay! a garden and courtyard with fences to keep me safe. Love the trees and bushes there are lots of interesting smells. Are those possums, koalas and kookaburras in the trees?
I LOVE THIS PLACE.

The attention to detail in the design of this place was stunning! It made for a relaxing and lush space to enjoy with the family, including our small dog. Great outdoor space to take in the view and cosy living rooms to bunker down at night. Worth seeing the house for the design alone. Facilities were also great with everything you need for a short stay.

What a gorgeous, dog friendly property. We had a wonderful time staying here. The property is in a great location and so well equipped. The lounge/dining area is an amazing place to relax and the fireplace and air conditioning make the house extremely comfortable. We and our dog Blaze loved the spacious, fenced back yard and being surrounded by nature. We cannot wait to return!

We had such an amazing long weekend at the Mariner!
Location was perfect and property everything as described! Despite a few hiccups on a nighttime arrival with finding firewood we had the most amazing time!
Will definitely be back :)

Immaculate and beautiful
Great property - beautiful decor and super comfortable. Good communication and accessible support. Very clean (considering pet friendly) and in a beautiful part of town. There are a lot of stairs, I traveled with one elderly person with limited mobility, the property was ok for us but might not be accessible for others and would be worth highlighting in the property description. Thank you - look forward to staying again

Great stay at The Mariner
Really enjoyed our stay at the Mariner. The house is really well set out with plenary of room and interesting books and crannies the kids just loved. The kitchen is possibly the best equiped I have stayed which was really appreciated as we enjoyed some great home cooked meals before taking an evening stroll along the Metung boardwalk which is just a few steps away. I couldn’t recommend this more. All the home comforts you could ask for plus the additional little touches you would expect from a hotel.
