Location. This hotel is close to Lake Cuicocha and Otavalo. Good parking. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast.

It's difficult to pick just one thing that we liked because the Hacienda San Isidro de Iltaqui was extraordinary in so many ways! We loved the hacienda's ambiance, the farm fresh food was delicious, and the hosts offered attentive, personal, old world hospitality that will bring us back. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Doña Chelita is super host, she made us felt comfortable like visiting grandma’s house. She personally takes care of every detail.

Beautiful, historical Haciendas! Very welcoming host, super attentive to our needs. Food is amazing! It is ideal if you wish to relax at the haciendas. Not convenient if you want to go to different places as the road is challenging. Taxis will get there...but it's a tough road. Still loved it!

Very friendly and helpful staff and owners of this family-run hacienda. A beautiful historic building in a great location. The vegetarian food they offered was excellent and creative. The pleasant tour around the farm. The close location to the CotoCachi Crater lake.

Beautiful surroundings, garden and animal farm. Helpful staff, good food (ingredients from the farm, breakfast was delicious with local cheese). The house had charm and character, and the owner gave us a personal tour
Bathroom was cold and it took very long time for hot water to arrive.
Wine during dinner was overpriced

Nice historic hacienda and lovely hosts.
Not good value for the money. The food was also very expensive and you can get similar food in the area for half the price.

Chelita and Rosendo (the owners) are the best hosts ever! Also, the house is full of history and mystery. Armando, the person who is in charge of the animals is very helpful and nice. You can ride horses and feed the animals. There is a kind of sanctuary up to the mountain, which is really cool!

Family atmosphere, nice historical house. Extra care given personally by the owners. Dinner experience was great, after that a home local drink sitting in front of the fireplace.
I wish I booked more nights to see all the nice nature. Get ready for the typical highlands cold nights (hot water bag is provided and helps a lot).

This was a truly authentic Ecuadorian family hacienda experience. Located in the highlands outside of Cotacachi, the setting is gorgeous, and the hacienda shows the love and care of the family living there. Chelita and Rosendo took a personal interest in making my stay comfortable, and very enjoyable. The hacienda is full of family antiques and photos. Rosendo was an architect, and he restored the hacienda so that it is authentic, and in perfect condition. Chelita is an wonderful cook - she even baked a cake just for me! Be sure to go for a walk in the surrounding woods - very very peaceful!

The Hacienda is very hard to find. Not even Google maps worked. One needs a good car to get there, a 4X4 is recommendable, and at least a few words in Spanish to ask directions. Once there, the feeling was of a lived hacienda and not of one turned into a hotel. Beeing it so secluded was for us a plus. The feeling of the Hacienda with centennial trees in the park was owesome, since it inmediately brought to us childhood memories. We left our luggage there and went to treck the Cotacachi Lake. We came back late in the afternoon for a shower and were offered a second shower, so that we did not have to wait long. The bedroom was ample but dark so we preferred spending time sitting and reading at the ample and well lit corridor. We spent the evening with friends in Cotacachi and our hosts were waiting for us when we came back, ready to have an interesting conversation with us, one that we continued the day after. Beds were comfortable and the special touch of a hot water bottle at night was nice and welcomed. The owners made us feel as their personal guests. My husband, my daughter and me were the only ones at the Hacienda and by the morning we already were good acquaintants. Chelita prepared a wonderfull breakfast for us and her husband Reinadlo took us for a long drive to discover many wonderful and legendary places of his 800 acres Hacienda, with wonderful views of the Andean countyside. Once back in the Hacienda we were asked if we wanted to have lunch and we asked the owners to sit with us and eat together. Their conversation is very interesting and we did not leave back to Quito until 5 pm. All i all it was a wonderful experience and we have in mind returnng with some of our friends who like nature and old haciendas in the Andes. Thank you Chelita and Reinaldo for letting us feel at home in your wonderfull Hacienda.
