A great place to stay on the Forgotten Coast. We had a group of two families with kids ranging from
7 to 14. All had something to do from enjoying the hammock reading, fishing, kayaking, and flashing flashlights at frogs to get them to jump at night. Hosts were very helpful, communicative and responsive. A great place to enjoy nature. We also enjoyed the museums and area. This is not a place to go if you want putt-putt, go carts, tourist traps and crowds. It is the perfect place to get away, relax, stargaze, and enjoy the outdoors. Thanks for a great vacation.

We had a very relaxing stay and would highly recommend this property. It is very clean, cozy & inviting. The property was very well appointed and had everything we needed. The sunrises and sunsets are just beautiful. The owners go out of their way to be accommodating and are very easy to work with. I hope we can come back soon!

This property was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The house was well kept and furnished very well. The view out over the marsh was beautiful and the fishing from the dock was great.

The property was beautiful! The views were amazing in the backyard looking over the bay. My only issue was having to load beach equipment and drive to the beach, which was less than a 5 minute drive, but it was a hassle when we have stayed directly on the beach. My husband and son fished from the pier every day. The property was very quiet and peaceful. If the property had a pool it would be amazing! If you love to fish and don’t mind driving a short distance to the beach, this vacation home will be an amazing experience for you and your family!

Our family lives in a high traffic destination beach town and we were looking to get away for Spring Break to somewhere quiet and relaxing and this was exactly it! My boys love to fish so the fishing kayaks were perfect. We brought a couple of own and kayaked across the bayou to the small little beach a couple of days. We beach fished at Carrabelle's beach and St. George Island a few days. It was so nice to have game and movie nights and enjoy the beautiful nature scenery. We loved and hope to be back soon! Thank you so much!!

We had another great week at Hooked on the Bayou and will be back again next year! Danny and Doreen checked in regularly and made sure everything was perfect. Their home is well equipped and in the perfect location for a quiet week away. We fished, kayaked, relaxed, beached, and enjoyed another great week at this adorable house.

Everything we needed was there. The home is clean, comfortable, modern enough to entertain kids on a stormy day inside, yet embraces outdoors with plenty of amenities. On the edge of an estuary, teeming with wildlife, only a couple miles to Carrabelle and HWY 98, this property is also convenient to Apalachicola/St. George Island.

The property is very secluded and set on the bayou, so putting the kayak in the water was fairly easy at high tide. Very comfortable with lots of games and owner was very responsive when I sent a question. Would definitely recommend property.

We were looking for a place to unwind and reset. We certainly found the perfect property for that at Hooked on the Bayou. The view from the deck, the dock, and any window in the home was peaceful and absolutely beautiful...a nature lover’s dream. We found it very hard to pull ourselves away from that deck. Don’t miss the sunrise with coffee or the sunset with a glass of wine! Maybe linger a while longer after sunset to do some star-gazing.
There was plenty of room inside to relax while watching movies in the evening. We really didn’t want to leave when it was time to go home. Our hosts, Doreen and Danny, were caring, very considerate, and just lovely people.
Our time spent at Hooked on the Bayou was just what we needed. We’re “Hooked” and we’ll be back with friends and family!

We loved our time at Hooked on the Bayou! Great place for a group trip. Slept five adults comfortably! We fished and kayaked everyday! The property is so relaxing and serene. It’s also very accommodating and provided everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again! 5 Stars!!

The house was beautiful and had everything you could possibly need and then some. The views from the house were absolutely breathtaking. We had a great time fishing from the dock, taking the boat to dog island, walking carrabelle beach, playing board games, looking at the stars, and so much more. We had a blast and will definitely be back.

We enjoyed the fishing, bird watching, games, and solitude. We’ll be visiting again.

We are a family of six and we couldn't have asked for a better house or location and to spend our week at. The house is located right on a salt marsh and only a couple of minutes from Carrabelle Beach, which is beautiful. We caught redfish, flounder, and trout in the marsh (which was full of fish) - fishing from the provided kayaks and off the dock. We saw an amazing amount of wildlife all around us. We were able to visit St George Island a couple of times - which was only 20 minutes away. We spent almost every evening down at Carrabelle Beach surf fishing and playing in the sand. Highly recommend - Doreen is super helpful and makes getting in and out so easy.

Relaxing Experience
We had everything we needed. House is right on the bayou and was close enough for easy access to the water and Dog Island. Still excluded enough for privacy. Not far from St. George’s Island. We saw tons of wildlife including a bear. Definitely want to return soon!

Quiet and peaceful
The house is great and decorated well. The view is beautiful looking out over the bayou and it is one of the quietest places we have stayed at. Our only very small complaint is there isn't enough light if you want to do any reading at night, which the 3 of us liike to do. We had a very relaxing time.

From start to finish this was an amazing place to stay. The view of the bayou is instantly relaxing, and the house is furnished to maximize restfulness. I have a weak spot for dimmers on lights, so really appreciated that they were all through the house. Doreen and Danny also were super quick to answer any question- from how to light the grill to how to put the kayaks in the water safely. They were awesome hosts and if I"m that way again I'll try to get this house!

What a perfect place to relax! My husband and I are pretty much go, go, go 6 days a week and needed to kick back and relax. Hooked on the Bayou is just that place. My husband fished and I enjoyed sunshine everyday. We ate fresh caught fish 2 nights and brought home enough for 3 more meals! Doreen and Danny were perfect hosts as they checked on us just prior to out trip, check in day and just before leaving. The house has everything you need and then some! Just perfect!!! Thank you Doreen and Danny. Because of this vacation (first in 5 years) we have decided to make sure we get away every year!

Perfect place to Relax with Nature
The home was exactly as described, was well appointed, perfectly decorated, and very comfortable. It had a very nice TV, and a super comfortable couch for lounging in the evening.
The view of the bayou was very relaxing, and we saw all sorts of intresting birds including cranes, Osprey, and Bald Eagles while relaxing on the large and well maintained deck.
The pier and dock is nice, and it was cool to sit out in the middle of such an unusual ecosystem. You don't see anything like this in Panama City!
The town is very laid back. There are a few good restaurants that are much more home grown than what you find in the resort communities. The food was great!
This is less a beach lovers dream and more of a nature lovers dream. No huge crowds, except from birds, trees, and breezes.
The #1 most perfect thing about our trip was our host. Doreen couldn't possibly have been more helpful. She responded VERY quickly to our questions, and was very friendly. I asked too many questions, but she was kind and prompt every time.
If you are looking for a laid back vacation with nature (and some supporting restaurants for when you don't want to cook) this is the place to go. It's a short drive to a couple State parks if you want to be even more remote!

Book this place!
This house was perfect! From the accommodations to the location to all the little extras. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. We had a few windy days that prevented us from taking our boat out, but turned out to be perfect kayaking days .... fishing the bayou from the kayaks was amazing. Danny and Doreen were extremely helpful while planning our trip and then checked on us throughout the week. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful stay
Great communication from first inquiry until we checked out. We were called when we arrived to ask if everything was okay and offered a cleaning after two weeks since we were staying a month. The home was clean and felt very much like home. The kitchen was stocked well enough that we had everything we needed and more. Kayaks (which we used), beach chairs, and a large cooler are there for your use. There are lots of games for a family and a gaming console as well. TV is streaming only on whatever services you have but that is fine with us. Nice dock leading to the water. The water is only accessible during high tide both to launch kayaks and have enough water to paddle. Huge deck with beautiful views off the back with a large umbrella for shade and a gas grill. The gnats are pretty bad late afternoon and evening but that is the coast. Morning coffee on the deck is great. I brought my boat and there is paved parking under the house for the boat and my truck. There were plugs for my battery charger and a water hose to rinse it off.
The home is not a brand new property but it is very clean, well appointed, comfortable, and the owners are working as I write this to make further improvements. Highly recommend this property! Thank you Danny and Doreen for a great stay.

We will be back! Wow!
Our reaction and reaction of family who came to Hooked on the Bayou when getting out of the car was "Oh Wow". Doreen and Danny found the perfect spot if you enjoy sunrises and sunsets and birding. Could not wait to open the blinds each morning and look out. The house was a perfect size and very well equipped . The fireplace kept us cozy during the cold snap that occurred during our stay. There was a very thoughtful gift waiting for us which was such a great touch. We did not get to kayak due to temperatures and wind so we MUST go back. Thank you Danny and Doreen!

Caring, thoughtful, responsive hosts. Clean, spacious, relaxing, beautiful home in a picturesque and safe area. Relaxing or eating on the large deck overlooking the bayou nourished my soul. Kitchen is well-equipped with a set of high quality silverware, dishes, glassware, large assortment of utensils, Cuisinart pots & pans, and a lot more. Fresh herbs growing in containers outside! The two kayaks could be launched from the dock during high tide but we were there when high tides were around 2am and 5pm with sunset about 6pm. Tides don't limit accessibility at the neighborhood boat launch, which is about a mile down the road, if your vehicle or portaging skills are up to it. One set of kayak wheels are provided with the rental.
