This home was 10/10 and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Uvita! The pictures don’t do the place justice, as the view is incredible! This place is great if you’re traveling with a group because each room has an incredible view and a bathroom (everyone gets the feeling that they got a great room)! The kitchen is incredibly well stocked, and the beds, sheets, pillows were SO comfortable. The AC and fans in the bedrooms kept it nice and cool, and the host was super responsive. As noted in the description, you do need a 4x4 vehicle as the route to the house is quite steep.

Our family of six had a memorable getaway to this villa in Uvita, Costa Rica, and it exceeded all expectations. Despite the steep drive up, the breathtaking views greeted us with a promise of an unforgettable experience. Uvita's authenticity captivated us, offering an immersion into the heart of Costa Rican culture. The villa itself provided a perfect retreat, allowing us ample space to relax and reconnect amidst the natural beauty of the surroundings. From enjoying leisurely mornings on the terrace overlooking the lush landscape to exploring the wonders of Uvita, every moment was filled with joy and adventure. The villa's charm and comfort, combined with the warmth of the Costa Rican hospitality, made our stay truly exceptional. Our time here created cherished memories that we will treasure for years to come, leaving us eagerly anticipating our next visit to this tropical paradise.

The house is located in Ballena up on a mountain, overlooking the thick jungle and the ocean. The birds you will hear and see are amazing. The house is beautiful and spacious with everything you need. Floating out in the pool, watching the view is a memory I will never forget. There’s a toucan, a tiger heron and all kinds of other beautiful birds that come to visit everyday. At Sunset the jungle comes alive and the sounds are other-worldly. The hosts couldn’t be more helpful. My friend and children were equally amazed. Thank you!

Had a great time. The location and view is incredible. The drive up to the house is steep, but seemed well maintained and not as bad as I thought it might be (still need 4x4). Beds were comfortable and house layout is good. Heard howler monkeys and saw several toucans while hanging out in the pool. Looking forward to coming back sometime.

Wonderful stay at this gorgeous house overlooking the pacific. Perfect size for our family group of 11 and a great place to spend Christmas. Pool was fabulous, view was spectacular and we saw lots of fun birds. Hill was a little tricky with the rain and we did lose power the last evening but such is life. Pura vida!

The house was very nice and well equipped. The view was outstanding and all our time was spent in the pool staring at the view! We were greeted each day by toucans and various other birds. The owners were very responsive whenever there was a need. We would definitely come stay again. Amazing trip!

Casa Bellena is everything you could possibly want or need in a large, luxurious vacation rental, but with none of the compromises you often see once you add ‘kid-friendly’ to the search.
Top highlights:
- The layout: Large group, lots of kids, multiple families? No problem! Two very private wings, and 4 large, master suits make this a breeze.
- The finishing: All the linens, beds, furniture, etc. All fantastic or new quality but incredibly family friendly and comfortable. Everything you need to host/cook/just hang is ready and waiting for your arrival.
- Hosts/Safety: Not only did we have ALL the details needed to get into the country, make transport to the house, local accommodations, etc but the hosts and maintenance team were incredibly helpful, quick and kind. This meant the world to our family when traveling with 6 kids.
-Lastly, but certainly not least… that outdoor space/pool! Honestly — it’s breathtaking. The outdoor table is huge, the outdoor grill and fridge make cooking for a large group a breeze, and pool is perfect with a small shallow area for the really littles in addition to deeper swimming and wonderful umbrellas and chairs and more.
You don’t regret this rental as you sit out on the patio in the morning watching the Toucan’s fly over or listen to the Howler Monkeys. Oh! And the sunsets…. Amazing!

This was my family and I first trip to Costa Rica and it was nothing short of amazing. This property is absolutely stunning talk about million dollar views. Tom and Christine answered any and all questions in a timely manner. Property was spotless beds were probably the most comfortable beds I've slept in on a vacation. If your looking for a house that is private yet not far from stuff to do this is the spot for you. Just make sure if your renting a car it definitely has 4×4 because the road up to the house you will definitely need it.

This is a stunningly beautiful property! It is clean and very well stocked with the appropriate equipment It is well suited to house several families or one big family. The furniture is comfortable and clean. The outdoor space is beautiful as well with private and group seating areas The pool is refreshing and well maintained. Good ac in bedrooms The landscaping is gorgeous!
Now the negative. The property is situated in the mountains and is relatively difficult to get to. To the credit of the property owners they do suggest you rent a 4by4 This is a must! You need to be able to navigate relatively difficult steep terrain to get to the house and to get to grocery stores below.
Also beware of the rainy season. When we were there the area experienced a black out and to our surprise and chagrin the house did not have a working generator and we spent a full day in the oppressive heat and dark. The property owners did not offer us any alternative housing thus we had to end our stay after two days even tho we scheduled for 8 days. We were told to buy candles and they would reimburse us…. We lost all of the food we bought for the stay as well. I think the black out lasted several days Also the roof leaked
To the property owners credit they did offer us a full refund which we felt was fair and considerate.
I have stayed in a quite a few VRB properties over the years and this was my most negative experience.
The weather can’t be control so a generator is a must

When you arrive and see the view for the first time, there is nothing quite like it. Tom and Christine were the most thorough hosts we have ever stayed with, and the property reflects that attention to detail. Could not recommend more highly.

Great house layout for couples, private, clean, well cared for, and just beautiful. Amazing views and great pool. Would have liked more shade around the pool. Had an amazing time here, loved the restaurants and bars, and local tours. Would recommend this place to friends, families, couples or anyone who is looking for a slice of heaven.

Our family’s stay at Casa Ballena Pacifica was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were in awe of the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The house itself and the surrounding views were even more beautiful in person than the photos. We enjoyed spectacular Pacific sunsets and watching the incredible variety of birds that flew by including the family of toucans that visited every afternoon. We loved lounging in the pool which was much larger than it appears in the photos.
Inside, the house is well-equipped and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the air conditioning in the bedrooms worked perfectly (although the apartment really cooled down at night). The kitchen is fully stocked providing us with everything we needed to enjoy some wonderful meals at home.
Tom and Christine were excellent hosts. They were very responsive and helpful, and we really appreciated their recommendations. One of the highlights was a painting class with Pia, a local artist who was recommended to us by Tom and Christine.
Overall, we had a wonderful time at Casa Ballena and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation in a beautiful setting of Uvita with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. We would definitely stay here again and hope to have the opportunity to do so in the future.

Stunning Views
This gorgeous villa sits atop the most amazing view of Cano Island, the Three Sisters and the Osa Peninsula. There are four bedrooms with their own private bathrooms and all rooms have sliding glass doors that look out to the ocean.
The infinity pool is a perfect size to swim laps or lounge around. The kitchen and living area are open to the views as well. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and serving dishes. The gas grill is a real plus as well. We loved our time here and will do our best to return sometime in the near future.

Great week
What a great week. Brand new house. We were the 2nd to stay in it. Awesome views. Magical sunsets from the pool. We have been visiting CR for the last 10 years. Tom and Christine are the best property managers to date.
