About this house rental
Work or do school remotely with secure reliable WiFi powered by 1-Gig fiber internet.
1-Gig fiber optic Internet via an Orbi mesh WiFi router system delivers reliable hi-speed WiFi throughout the house so you can stay connected. Parents can work remotely, and kids can participate in distance learning with plenty of bandwidth for everyone.
The main living room has a 70-inch TV and the 2nd floor living room has a 55-inch TV. All 8 bedrooms have 55 or 42 inch flat screen smart HD TVs. The elevator goes from the ground level to the top floor (not the case in all houses with elevators). There are ceiling fans throughout the house, and the fully stocked kitchen includes quartz countertops and a double oven.
The house has 8 bedrooms (6 Kings, 5 Twins, 1 Double, Futon), 6 1/2 baths, and can sleep 20 in beds. Have more than 20 people? No problem as our neighbor can accommodate another 20 people in a very similar floor plan. Great to accommodate family reunions, weddings and other events that bring you to the island. It has a reverse floor plan, so the kitchen, living room and main master bedroom are on the top (3rd) floor and have great views. The house has a private pool on-site, which we can heat in spring or fall. The dual, heated outdoor shower is convenient for rinsing off after returning from the beach, and the shower deck is made from Poly-Wood, so you don’t have to worry about splinters.
This wonderful house is a 3-minute walk from the public beach access. It is located on the desirable west end of Ocean Isle Beach (fewer houses than the east end = less crowded beach). It is at the end of the paved section of West 2nd Street, so it is safe for kids with very little traffic. With undeveloped land on 2 sides, you'll have fantastic, views of the ocean and sound from the wrap-around decks on each level.
With six King bedrooms, this house works great for large, multi-generational family gatherings and vacations with multiple families. We have also hosted many church retreats and corporate retreats.
What to Bring: A complete linen package is provided for all of our guests, and everything is freshly laundered each week (5 night minimum stay). We do not provide beach towels or other beach gear. However, you can pack a little lighter, as we provide a beach cart, and rolling cooler for transporting kids, beach chairs, and beverages to and from the beach.
Amenities: The house has a private pool which can be heated in the spring and fall additional fees may be charged. The pool area has resort grade furniture, including reclining lounge chairs for sunbathing, as well as two tables and non-reclining chairs for pool-side dining. NEW for 2024 WE PROVIDE ACCESS (MAY-OCT) TO THE ISLES BEACH CLUB WHICH HAS AN ADDITIONAL LARGE POOL, HOT TUB, ACCESS TO BEACH, AND A RESTAURANT (MAX 12 GUESTS AT A TIME).
There is a full-sized refrigerator on the ground level to keep your pool drinks cold. We provide a number of pool toys and floats for the kids. ICE machine on the ground floor in the summer to fill coolers.
The large kitchen is well stocked with service for 20. It is equipped with stainless steel appliances, including a smooth-top 5-burner stove, double oven, microwave, toaster oven, 2 coffee makers, Keurig, Ninja blender, dishwasher, and French-door refrigerator/freezer with ice maker and filtered water. There are plenty of pots, pans, casserole dishes, mixing bowls, muffin pans, etc. Several guests have commented that this kitchen is better stocked than theirs at home.
We provide all of the basics: dish soap, dishwasher detergent, coffee filters, etc., and a starter supply of K-cups.
The house is also equipped with a stackable washer and dryer, as well as an iron and ironing board. There is a clothes line in the carport for hanging wet beach towels and bathing suits. Laundry detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheets are all provided.
Recreation: Of course, the main attraction is the beach but there are also many great golf courses within 15 minutes (and over 100 courses within a 20-mile radius of OIB). On the island, there is a miniature golf course and tennis courts. You can also rent bicycles or charter a fishing trip. The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located on the island. The OIB Property Owners Association sponsors a concert series every Friday evening during the summer at the new Ocean Isle Town Park in the center of the island.
Just off the island, you can find go-cart racing and more miniature golf. Silver Coast Winery is only 15 minutes from the island and offers tours and tastings. Myrtle Beach is only 45 minutes away and has everything from water parks to outlet malls to the NASCAR Speedpark. It is also home to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a Class A minor league baseball team affiliated with the Chicago Cubs.
We are at the end of a lightly traveled street, so bike riding is a safe activity. Inside, there are toys and board games and a Sony PlayStation4 with mostly E-rated games.
Restaurants: There are a number of restaurants on the island, and more on the mainland. We do have a few favorites. For dinner, Roberto's, just off the island, is one of our favorites. The Bang-Bang Shrimp makes a great appetizer. The fish is always fresh and the pasta dishes are hard to beat. The pizza is so good we often have them prepare extras that we freeze and bring home. Roberto's also has a full bar.
Calabash, the 'Seafood Capital of the World,' is only 6 miles from OIB. For dinner, we love The Boundary House. Capt. Nance's and Ella's both offer the typical fried fish, shrimp and hush puppies that made Calabash famous.
For breakfast, we like Castaways which is just off the island next to Tsunami Surf Shop, but it's small so it doesn't work well for large groups. Our other favorite is the Purple Onion Cafe in Shallotte which has giant pancakes, blueberry biscuits and fantastic raspberry cream cheese croissants. If you need a caffeine fix, Drift Coffee Bar is on the island near the museum and OIB Surf and Java is just off the island in the Lowes Foods shopping center.
The OIB Fish Company has a rooftop Tiki Bar and is on the island just before the bridge. The Sugar Shack is highly regarded for its Jamaican cuisine, but call ahead because it is usually crowded.
Note - There are security cameras covering the driveway and front porch. There are no cameras indoors or with a view into the outdoor shower or pool.

We loved our stay here! The house has everything you need for a week or two of relaxing at the shore: beds were comfortable, most have their own bathroom, the kitchen has all the pots, pans, and utensils you could need. The kids loved the pool, especially the outdoor TV. We also spent most of the day at the beach which was easy because the walk is short. We had a couple questions throughout our stay and the host was always quick to respond. In short, there's no doubt we'll stay here when we come.to OIB next year.

4 generations of our family gathered for a week at Papa’s Porch where we celebrated our mother’s 85th birthday, a niece recent engagement and two baby reveals. We had a great week to say the least and found this 8 bedroom house very comfortable and nice. We especially enjoyed late night conversations on the large porches and poolside. Kudos to our host who checked on us and was responsive when necessary. We highly recommend Papa’s Porch and hope to do this again.

Overall very nice. We had rented the house next door, and the day of check-in the owner informed us that the elevator was out of service. He got in touch with these folks and they were able to quickly help us.

Gorgeous views. Spic and span. Very responsive host. Incredibly well stocked kitchen

The host was wonderfully accommodating and communicative! We even had early check in. Plenty of space, plenty of pool/beach toys, comfortable beds. A huge plus was that there was an ice maker on bottom floor! We never had to buy bagged ice.

Papa's Porch is a quiet place in a busy world. Close access to the center of the Island with great views. We like to cook at home so that we can have plenty of fellowship and the kitchen was fully stocked. Pool area was nice with nice roomy outside shower which was wonderful for the 4 children. The essentials on hand were great too. Of course the porches were well visited.
Thanks for a very memorable time.

We recently stayed at Papa's Porch, and it was an awesome experience. Brian was very attentive to our needs and was in consistent contact with us prior to our arrival. He was very responsive and answered our questions promptly.
There was an issue with the key pad upon checking in, but he notified us of the issue and the property manager was out the next morning to fix it.
The home was very clean and provided comfort and amenities for our entire family. It was a great place to celebrate Mother's Day and my mother's 80th birthday! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

Had 18 adults stay for a long weekend in September. Great views and a well-stocked kitchen for cooking. I rented many houses and this had the most coffee, spices, and kitchen supplies I have ever seen. Brian was a great host and communication was easy.
Highly recommended.

Overall a very nice stay! The only downfall was the elevator in the house was not working and was hard for some family members to get up all the stairs. We absolutely loved the area and will return again.

The owner was easy to communicate with. There was an issue we caused and the owner immediately took care of it.

The home was clean and the layout was good. They provided several amenities. The views and the location were excellent.
The pool area was clean and provided lots of sitting space. The refrigerator on the bottom floor near pool was very convenient and a great addition.
We would recommend this home and location.

Papa's Porch is in a great location on the island and has beautiful views on the both the front and back porches. The pool, although a little on the small size, met our needs well. Communication with owners, both before and during the trip, was excellent. All that being said the house was on the disappointing side. From the beginning...the elevator repair people were at the house when we arrived. After working to repair it we were told it wasn't going to happen during our trip. However, on the day before we left the repairmen returned to get the broken part from the elevator. The said they were going to repair it and put it back on the next day so the elevator would be working for the next tenants. Why wasn't this be done for us? We had to contact the maintenance or owner numerous times. 1st floor AC stopped working, lots of burnt of light bulbs, front door handle fell off, 1/2 bath toilet got clogged. The kitchen needs a complete organization. The furniture is worn out. We were given 1 set of towels per person, 2 kitchen towels and crunchy sheets. Papa's Porch could be spectacular, but as is it is just average. No one wants to spend their vacation calling about constant issues and having repair people in and out of their rental.

We have stayed at several beach houses over 30+ years and this has to be in my top 3. The location is number 1 in my books. The island is perfect for the relaxation aspect and just enjoying time with family. The property owner was extremely great at communication and helped with all of our needs and questions. The house fit our family perfectly which included 13 adults and 4 kids. There’s nothing besides clothes and hygiene products that you will need as everything is provided. I would absolutely book this beautiful home again in the future. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

We stayed at PaPa's porch for a pre wedding get together with friends. The house is huge, but with 3 floors, you don't feel on top of each other. Kitchen was very well stocked. With 15 people, trying to cook could be a hard task without the right size pans and serving bowls. The house had everything we needed. We had zero issues at the house other than locking oursleves out of a bathroom. I got a returned text within 10 minutes. There's plenty of parking and it's on a dead end so VERY little traffic. And the pool? When they say heated they aren't just saying that. It was a little cool when we were there but the pool was wonderful! Great house, highly recommend!

All ages enjoyed this vacation. For the non beach lovers the heated pool was a hit. Very short walk to the beach . Enjoyed the nightly sunsets and the deer. Loved having decks on all sides

We had a wonderful time with our family at Papa's Porch. We spent most of our time between the pool and the beach. Both were excellent. The 20 - somethings found their way to multiple locations on the beach and island shops while the littles enjoyed the sand and surf. Older adults enjoyed sunrises on the beach, beach walks and sunsets from the decks.
Everything we needed was found. Just grab your groceries and head on to a wonderful stay!
Communication with the host was excellent. One hiccup at the beginning of our stay with late check in and missing linens but that was rectified within 30 minutes! All in all a fantastic location! You will not be disappointed with Papa's Porch 😁

We loved our second year’s stay at Papa’s Porch! The space is great for our group 14. Easy walk to beach, extra parking, beautiful ocean views at non-oceanfront pricing. Pool, pool furniture & icemaker, and extra frig were great!

Our multi-generational family of 13 had a wonderful week at Papa's Porch. We enjoyed the pool, the views of the marsh and ocean from the many porches, the short walk to the beach, the comfortable beds and the well stocked kitchen. The elevator was essential for us as our family includes one handicapped person and it worked beautifully. We were all thrilled that the linen package provided by the owner included freshly laundered comforters and quilts as well as sheets and towels. Other items that made our stay in this lovely home more enjoyable were the second refrigerator, the ice machine, a nice large grill and ample numbers of pool toys and beach chairs. The host was responsive and had a good attitude about the few requests we made of him.. We would definitely like to return for another visit.

I have reviewed this property on six previous occasions when it had different ownership. I'm pleased to report that the new owner has continued the wonderful care for the property and conveniences for renters. We have al;ready booked for the same week next year. The additions by the new owners include a new refrigerator in the kitchen and an ice maker at the ground level. My more extensive comments from out prior rental weeks still apply. Having rented OIB houses for one or twp weeks for more than 40 years this is far and away the best place we have stayed.

The house was great and just as advertised. The check in and check out process was a breeze (much easier than a realty company) and we all were extremely happy with our stay. Thanks for a great vacation!

Great for a big group
The house is in a great location. Wonderful views across the intercoastal. Plenty of room for a large group and generally well equipped. Very impressed that bedspreads and pillow shams are sanitized after each rental. Owners are very nice and very responsive. BUT…the house is a little “tired” and the kitchen needs work. The finish is worn off the fronts of the cabinets and some of the backs are filthy. Mold on the wall in one bathroom ( hopefully the maintenance guy took care of it). I fully expect the owners to correct the problems but in the meantime renters should be aware.

Family Gathering
Papa’s Porch was just what we needed for our 3 generation family. It’s location is ideal for a short walk to the beach. House was clean and well equipped for cooking in for our 13 members. Kids( 2,3,5,6) thoroughly enjoyed the pool. Pool was exceptionally clean. Front porch gives you a beautiful sunset view of the marshes with its ducks and deer. Little extra’s like carts and beach wagon, pool toys, two coffee makers made it more convenient for our families. Cole was outstanding in communicating and addressing any questions.

Wonderful house!
We enjoyed staying at this house with our large group of adults and kids. The house was well stocked and appointed with everything you need. We spent a lot of time by the pool!!! Everything was clean upon arrival and the owners attentive throughout the process. Several wrap around porches with beautiful views! Location was excellent.

Fantastic property! I booked Papa's Porch for our annual golf trip and it didn't disappoint. Close access to the beach, scenic 360 views, easy access to restaurants, and everything we needed for our stay included. Thank you!

2022 Planning Retreat
Papa's Porch was a great property and the size easily accommodated our large group for 2022 planning. Beautiful water views from all bedrooms with large porches on every floor. Very clean with easy check in and out processes. Chris the owner was very responsive. Thanks for sharing with us!

Great house
The house is great for large groups. There are plenty of rooms for guests to chose from and all rooms are inviting. The elevator is also very helpful as the kitchen and living area are on the third floor for views. My only complaint was the linen situation. We were advised that linens would be found on the first floor. All of the bedding for every bed in the house was in bags on the first floor upon arrival. We had to determine what went where, bring them to each floor, and make all of those beds. It took us about an hour to figure out the bedding and make all the beds. I don't think it's a big deal to bring everything to one level on departure but no one wants to arrive at their vacation destination and have to make several beds. There is a cleaning fee, beds should be made in that fee. Other than that, the beach is a short walk from the house, the pool gets warm, and the house is well stocked. We enjoyed our stay.

Excellent property and service
Our family is consisted of a large group and the property was very spacious to accommodate all of us. The location is close to the beach and the rooms were very clean. Linens were fresh and clean as well. The owner responded immediately when we encountered a minor problem. Overall, we had a very enjoyable weekend.

Perfect View, Perfectly Stocked, Perfect Roominess!
Our group of 7 couples gets together at the beach every summer. This house was perfect! We loved the elevator, pool, bedrooms and all the bathrooms! The house was well stocked and clean! The ocean views from the wraparound decks were awesome! We had 8 cars and this house sits at the end of the street where we enjoyed extra parking space! We hope we can come back next year!

Great vacation at OIB
We highly recommend this house for a great OIB vacation. We have several families with children who have been to OIB for Labor Day the past 5 years. This was the best house we have rented so far. The views of both the ocean and the marsh were terrific. The property owner is very easy to work with and first class. Definitely recommend and will look to stay here again ourselves.
