The property was beautiful, up on a hill nestled in ponderosa pines, very private with decks off the front and side. We walked in the kitchen to find delicious banana bread and chocolate chip cookies waiting for us. We slept great every night. The location is just minutes from Custer State Park and Jewel Cave. We highly recommend this, you won’t be disappointed

This cute little cabin is only two minutes from downtown Custer. The property is private, the bed was comfortable, and the outdoor deck and fire pit were great places to relax after a day exploring all the attractions. The baked goods that were on the kitchen table were a pleasant surprise!

Cabin was clean and exactly as described. Perfect location for visiting the Black Hills Playhouse. The bed was a little hard but we had no problem sleeping. The owner was quick to respond with any questions I had before our visit.

Perfect spot to explore Custer, Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, and Mammoth Site, plus Custer State Park as we left. Clean, comfortable, well-stocked cabin with treats in the kitchen when we arrived! We enjoyed our 53rd anniversary in this excellent location!!

The cabin itself is wonderful! Everything you need to thoroughly enjoy your stay in one of the most beautiful, and natural, places imaginable. Not fancy, just "down home" perfect!!
Add to that, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and a very relaxed downtown area and we honestly did not want to leave.
Thank you, Cheryl!

I marked 5 stars for communication with the property manager, but we actually never had any face to face contact with them. Only communication was online via VRBO. We were quite pleased with the cabin, the only thing we didn't care for was the noise from the highway that was close to us. I do believe the king bed had a memory foam mattress but I just didn't sleep well on it. Absolutely loved that it was a king bed!!!! We have king beds in every bedroom in our home and wouldn't have anything less. Beautiful kitchen area and stocked with all the essentials. Especially liked the ice trays were filled and frozen and ready for use upon our arrival to unwind with a little cocktail. We had nice outdoor seating and really for the most part we had a lot of privacy. The other 2 cabins/homes beside the property we stayed in, the people were very friendly. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, a very nice getaway for our 45th wedding anniversary.

My sister and I plan a trip every year. Usually we camp, this was our first VRBO. The cabin was as described, there was road noise if you were in the front yard but inside was quiet and comfortable. The fire pit was utilized every night...best place to get firewood was just inside custer at gas station. Dry, bagged up, and uber affordable. King size bed comfortable, could have window open and no road noise. Tv set up for you to log onto your personal Netflix or prime account. Kitchen was moderately stocked. We cooked all our meals at cabin. Grill on deck is very convenient. Setting peaceful with easy access to whatever you may want. Michelsson trail was a beautiful leisurely walk with abundant wildlife. We started each day with a 3 to 4 mile walk. Put things in perspective and allowed for a re-boot.Homemade treats left by owner were delicious and a thoughtful touch. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

The cabin was small but worked very well for just the two of us. Lots of wildlife to see and accommodating owners.

Very quiet, set back off the road. This cabin had everything you may need. Kitchen was stocked well although we didn’t use much. (Except for the yummy homemade treats left by the hosts). The bed was very comfortable. Hosts had many good suggestions for restaurants and sites to see. We were gone all day every day but really enjoyed relaxing in the cabin at night.

We stayed at the cabin during July, a week before the Sturgis motorcycle rally. The cabin is located just outside of Custer. It has a functional and adequately stocked kitchen and a very comfortable memory foam king bed. The layout is ideal for a couple or a small family, but it would be tight for two couples. There is no W/D, but there is a laundromat in town. There is no AC but there is a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Temps were in the mid to upper 90's in the daytime, but it cooled off at night, and the cabin stayed fairly cool with windows and blinds closed. It's located off of 285 and set among beautiful trees, but there is a bit of road noise from the highway, especially motorcycles. Cheryl was very responsive, and she provided a lot of helpful information. The decks around the cabin are terrific for sitting and enjoying nature. Water in the area has a high iron content, so we bought bagged ice and water to use for drinking. The cabin was clean.

Loved this cozy little cabin!!
2.0
Pros: clean, usable kitchen, outdoor Weber grill, good access to Custer and surrounding attractions.
Cons: uncomfortable seating, poor lighting for sitting to read, hard memory foam bed (still not a fan of memory foam), fixed 'Smart TV' difficult to see, use or find anything to watch; tiny shower (w/ no place to set soap, shampoo, etc), road noise.
Conclusion: well intentioned, but not comfortable - would not recommend.

We booked at the last minute hoping for the best…and we got it! Everything was VERY clean and well maintained. Having a full kitchen was wonderful and the grill on the deck was an added bonus! The hosts were so easy to contact and we even met one our first morning. Saw a deer in the back yard our last morning…

Central location to Wind Cave, Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore and the sites in Custer State Park. Grocery store in town in case you need something you forgot. Very clean and comfortable cabin 😎. The homemade Banana Bread and cookies was a wonderful way of saying welcome to the cabin. My wife and I will be recommending this cabin to relatives and friends and would definitely stay here again.

I had a wonderful stay at this cozy, peaceful cabin. It is tucked away enough to be quiet, yet it is close to Custer and various attractions to be very convenient. Great communication from the hosts, and I had a fantastic stay! I would be thrilled to come back in the future!

I forgot an important item behind after we left, and the owner let me come back and pick it up, for which I'm very grateful.
The place was very clean and had an excellent hairdrier.

It was our first time visiting South Dakota. This little cabin had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay, and Cheryl & Frank were very responsive to our questions. We walked in to find a basket of freshly baked goodies; such a nice touch. We were greeted by 3 white tail deer our first evening there. It was the perfect location for our visits to Custer St. Park, Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. We highly recommend this well cared for cabin in a lovely wooded location. It is peaceful and quiet, and we loved sitting on the deck listening to the sounds of nature. Oh and that mattress.....SO COMFORTABLE!

This was our first trip to South Dakota and the cabin was situated near all the attractions we came to see. We appreciated the coziness and cleanliness of the cabin. The hosts were quick to respond to questions and offered many great suggestions of places to go, things to see. The kitchen was well-equipped and we enjoyed drinking our coffee on the deck each morning. We would highly recommend this quaint cabin and will stay here again when we’re back in this area.

This is a lovely cabin on a property with a larger cabin and another small cabin. It is right outside of town, so very convenient for a trip into Custer, and very central for all regional sites. This cabin is the absolute cleanest and well kept rental we have ever stayed in. Would highly recommend it (and have) to anyone traveling to this area.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with some wonderful baked goodies, which we enjoyed throughout our stay. Thank you, they were delicious. We would definitely stay there again.
