Location of this property to tourist sites was ideal. Other than that, there is very little to recommend this property.
In almost all the vacation rentals that I have stayed at throughout the years, I could imagine the owners actually living comfortably in the unit. Not so with this property. It is obviously managed with only-profit in mind. The overwhelming smell of 'Pinesol' disinfectant -- like a jock's lav -- upon entering the unit the first evening gave a hint of what was in store. I turned off the AC, opened all the windows & doors and left for the rest of the evening to clear the odor from the unit.
This property is old with drab furnishing; cheap 'throw away' grade utensils; open kitchen trash bin; broken cabinet hinges; vent between living & bedroom to share the AC (no problem for me, as I prefer to use the overhead fans instead); and do/don't signs everywhere warning of penalty fees -- just unpleasant, not welcoming place. [To use the shared laundry W/D, you will need to download an app, so you may want to consider using the 'Laundromat Express' a block or two away]
The location of this property is worth investing in a major make-over. Good luck!

Having our own little home away from home was so very convenient during our stay. The location of Kaapa was perfect to be able to explore the island. The hale had many areas to walk to as others had mentioned. Coconut Grove. The walking trail near the beach. Hukilau. Johnny's. Long's. Safeway .Ross and Wailua shaved ice as well as other places to dine.
Now back to K10. It was perfect handing amenities and space to be at home. It's obviously an older unit that has some slight wear, but it was clean and decent. The furnishings were good. The pool and jacuzzi was fine. We were able to use the BBQ in the shared grill. Our tomahawk and korean ribs turned out great! The kitchen amenities and linens were good,and we made ourselves at home.The bed WAS super comfortable. Having the beach chairs, the beach umbrella, and little cooler to use during our stay was a blessing to have. Overall we would definitely come back for the value and location. We enjoyed our time in the condo. Only one problem, the couch! It is old and very uncomfortable. I contacted our host and they said they would contact the owner. A new couch would do wonders for the place. It looks ok in the pictures but pictures can be deceiving.

We were mostly satisfied with the unit and enjoyed our stay. It had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and amenities as expected. The small cooler and Kauai guidebook we used a lot and were really great to have. We also appreciated the beach towels and portable beach chairs. The central location was nice for exploring all of the island.The only real downfall was the hedges were overgrown so the "mountain view" only consisted of the very tip of a mountain - and that was only if you were actually standing on the lanai. From the table in the living room the view was 3/4 hedge and 1/4 sky. The hedge is a nice barrier to the main road behind it, but just needed a good trimming. Additionally, the shower needed a thorough cleaning as mildew was on the tile and shower curtain. On the positive side, management touched base with us the day after we checked in to see how everything was going and to make sure everything was satisfactory. They responded quickly offering to have someone come and clean the shower for us at our earliest convenience.

Overall a good stay. The location suited our busy criss-crossing island itinerary.
The check-in directions were not up-to date, as the 'front-desk' closes much earlier than stated. However, it wasn't difficult to track down security, who came within 20-30 mins to give us instructions and keys.
On the surface, the unit was clean. Just don't look too close in the corners and drawers (especially in the bathroom).
We had to get assistance to make the TVs work correctly. Assistance came within 24 hrs. We aren't on vacation to watch TV, but keeping up with local and national news is important to us.
Like I said - overall a good stay.

Clean rooms with Coconut marketplace nearby within walking distance. Kitchen had all accessories needed for cooking breakfast. Two things to be aware of, close proximity to road 56 with a fire station 3 blocks north so if an emergency fire trucks heading south you will hear those. Second the door has a long window next to it, there is no blinds or curtain on it so the hall lights will always shine into living room area and anyone sleeping on sofa bed will have that light on them all night.

Spacious apartment conveniently located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Each building has a laundry room with clean washers and dryers, but remember it locks up at 10pm. Both Safeway and CVS (Longs) are close by, which is handy. Overall, we were happy with our stay.

we had a wonderful time staying in this cute little condo.. My husband and I would be happy to stay again. great location, walking distance to lots of shopping and good food.. This place was great! It’s a bit older and the stove was fun to figure out, but it was clean and the bed was super comfortable. It’s pretty central to anything you’d need (Safeway, Costco, Target, etc…). The pool is super private and even though we passed people in the halls a few times, every time we went for a dip, we had the whole pool to ourselves. The grill worked fine and it was nice to have that option on vacation since we grill a lot at home. The only thing I didn’t love was the laundry set up. It requires an app and you have to load your app with a minimum of $10. We did two loads and still had money leftover on the app that we’ll never use. Not a reflection of the unit, but be aware.

The condo was perfect for what we needed. The location is great (walking distance to beaches and shops/restaurants, central location to drive to the rest of the island). The condo has beach chairs, umbrella, and a small cooler to take to the beach. There is also a pack-and-play.

Unable to sleep on the pull out bed due to mattress extremely old causing you to feel every bar and wire of frame.. Only one pillow without pillowcase. Unable to use oven due to lack of pans. Stove burners smoked every time we used them. Bathroom sink drained extremely slow.
On a positive note the Plantation Hale staff were extremely professional and the grounds and pool areas were very well kept.

Great place to stay. Short walk to the market for all your needs. Also in the middle of eastern Kauai making it easier to hit all the sites.

Centrally located, great beaches, within walking distance, shopping, food, bus stop. Staff was great room was clean even had beach gear and beach towels to borrow. For the price point this is an excellent place to stay. Clean pool and hot tub. The street can be a little loud, but with the sliding glass door shut and the AC on it’s easy to tune out. Oh yes, and a AC was great. A lot of properties here don’t have AC in the unit keeps everything at a great temperature. Also plenty of hot water for showers. Less than an eight minute walk from the front door to the beach and the sun rises are absolutely incredible. I will definitely be back!

Basically the apartment had one big problem, it was right next to the main highway. If you opened the sliding door you would get a blast of all of the truck and car noises and the smell of smoke coming from this road. even with all of the windows closed the road noise was terrible. We had to walk away from this unit and rent another apartment in the same complex but completely on the other side of this complex. I did call the owners about this condition. I told them I cannot stay in this unit at all. I have no idea what refund I will get if any. There was someone who did rent this same unit days later. What can you do to get my refund from Destination Kauai? This unit should not be rented to anyone.

The apartment well equipped and reasonably clean. the nearest swimming beach is about 10 minutes away (by car). The view of the mountains was nice, but the traffic sound somewhat disturbing, you were not able to hear any birds. All in all a good value for the price. Old Kaapa-a town only minutes north (by car) and the coconut marketplace shops 10 minutes walking away.

Jeremy was extremely responsive when we couldn’t figure out how to use the cable. The registration staff fixed the door problem in less than 5 minutes. Excellent experience all around, highly recommend!

This unit was truly amazing, it has everything you could need for staying on Kauai. It's in a great location between towns and is walkable to a beach. There are plenty of restaurants and shops also walkable. The unit provides beach equipment, full kitchen utensils for cooking, and has tons of space. 10/10 recommend

Unsatisfactory
The condo was missign elements. Some fictures were broken and there was a humidity smell. Communication was not that good, being pushed to the owner.

We enjoyed our stay at Plantation Hale. The condo is well located, a short walk to the awesome Coconut Marketplace, and has extras including beach chairs and umbrella, boogie board , and more for a day at the beach. Swimming pool just steps away. Good value for the money.
