Such a wonderful place to stay. Maria and George provide their guests with information, food, music and a love of their environment. Great hosts! Anavryti is a small village in the Taygetos mountains and it is such a relaxing place to spend some time. Ancient Mystras is a short car ride away. A walk in the mountains is a must. Bring some cash for incidentals. No ATMs in village.

The property was really nice. A road to it was amazing: a bit crazy with an unbelievable view! You should try it! The owners are great and the breakfast also. I would like to come back after some time.

An incredible experience. Maria and Yiorgos were the most fantastic hosts - gorgeous house, incredible views, fantastic food and so much history. They helped us with onward accomodation on the E4/Peloponnese Way. We won’t forget their generosity and hospitality.

nice old house and excellent hospitality by George and Mary. great dinner and entertainment provided by the lovely couple .
the stairs were intimidating but George helps us with our luggage .

Comfortable stay on top of mountain near Sparta and Mystras. On-site dinner options. We liked the live music performed by the host.
It’s a bit of a drive up the mountains but one is rewarded with beautiful views

Mary and George are lovely and warm people! The house is very cosy and the view is great. We had diner at the guesthouse and the food was wonderful. George played guitar and sang Lively songs.

Mountain setting.
Wonderful views.
Lovely owners who brought a personal touch to their hospitality, eg cooked local dishes for dinner, played music on traditional instruments after dinner, gave us mountain tea, talked to us in a friendly way at all times.
Room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable.
Nothing!

Everything was just superbly perfect! The breakfasts, home baking and meals were delicious and gave an impression of Greek cuisine you won't get from your usual restaurant. The room was so cosy with a beautiful view of the mountains from the balcony and also from the dining room. The rembetiko and other Greek music which we were treated to in the evening just capped the whole fantastic experience. The hosts are a font of knowledge about the region, whether you want to hire or drive to explore it. An unforgettable experience!

Getting to Archontiko was an experience in itself! The views were incredible. The village was really remarkable – perched on the mountain side. I wished we had booked more time there! How fun it would have been to hike with George. Maria and George were so welcoming and genuinely seemed delighted to meet us and chat with us. Maria is an amazing cook – she welcomed us with a lovely cake and then breakfast was delicious. There were so many homemade goodies! I could have eaten all morning. I want to say thank you for an amazing stay. Maria and George are generous and delightful. I definitely recommend Archontiko!
I couldn't fina a thing that we didn't like. It was a marvelous experience.

One of the highlights of our trip to Greece. Perfect for those hiking the E4.

Had an awesome time. The hosts were awesome. The view was amazing. The place was clean. The breakfast was delicious. I recommend this place to anyone. Would go back in a heartbeat.

we had an amazing time with Maria and George who gifted us with their kindness, home made traditional cuisine, Greek music and insights into Greek history and daily life. It was truly a unique and most delicious experience… especially with the perfect view we had!
Food was all fresh, local and homemade from dinner to breakfast. We will definitely stay longer next time!
The road to get there might be a bit difficult (with lots of turns and some stones on the road) but it is ABSOLUTELY worth it!
The only negative aspect is having to leave!

It was perfect. The best place to stay. If you love mountains and hiking it is even better. Very close to Mystras it offers a quiet stay. Be sure to have dinner there and have a look at the fantastic artwork. We will come again.

Maria and George are fantastic hosts. We were greeted with warmth and hospitality. Maria cooked us a delicious and copious dinner while George entertained us with his bouzouki and guitar, playing melancholy Rembetiko. Breakfast was also delicious.
Signage and directions, especially for non-Greek speakers, could have been a bit better because Archontiko is way up the mountain in the small village of Anavryti. We mistakenly took the next mountain road over where there is another (?) Archontiko Guest House. After much backtracking we finally arrived at the correct Archontiko and believe me, it was worth it!

It has been a perfect stay at our E4 walk. The view was brilliant, our stay in the cosy house we enjoyed very much. We‘ve been very pleased to meet Jorgos and Maria. Jorgos for teaching us E4 and Maria for the excellent cooking and the english conversation. Thanks for your hospitality and all the best for the future, Manfred & Maria

It will take you a thirty-minute upward drive to get there (900 m height).
Γεώργιος (Geórgios) et Μαρία (Maria) are very nice and welcoming persons. The guesthouse is and old typical building fully restored by Geórgios over the last 40 years, which makes it a very family-like place where all the rooms are different ans comfy. All the food is home or locally made. After dinner, Geórgios will grab his μπουζούκι (bouzoúki) and start singing traditional greek songs with his breathtaking voice. He is also a painter.
Maria is a very learned French teacher who will take you through Greek history and geography.

The location is simply beautiful. As well as the hosts, Kanel and Maria, who are very kind and gave use some useful tips for our Peloponnese tour.
We had a perfect stay!

The property is located in the most beautiful mountain village. Very traditional with a couple of tavernas. The views from Archontiko are exceptional and it is just so peaceful there. The hosts George and Maria could not be better. They were so friendly and they made our stay even better. Maria’s food was exceptional and she very much deserves her award of ‘Food Guru’. George made our children feel so welcome with his music as well. We utterly loved it there and think it’s a small slice of heaven…
Nothing, it is perfect

I loved the hotel, the hosts and the food
The winding road to the destination.

A tranquil home away from home - George is THE Mt Taygetos expert, Maria does the home cooking, mostly with local ingredients - a treat !

My partner and I loved absolutely everything! No complaints whatsoever. We stayed for one night late June.
Takes a bit of guts to drive up the zigzag mountain road (we drove from Sparta) but it was very well worth it.
Marie and Georgious are a really lovely couple; always smiling, always helpful, always polite. The food was to die for, the views sublime and we were upgraded to a room with a balcony. The fact that there was no TV/Radio didn't matter at all as Georgious provided the entertainment in the evening with his Bouzouki/Guitar playing skills and singing.
I almost cried when we had to leave as I wished we had stayed for longer...Next time...
All in all a wonderful time spent with a great couple! Thank you so much Marie & Georgious.

The fact that we didn't book for longer!

The road is not for the weak of heart, but the destination is worth it. George and Maria are amazing. When you arrive, you feel like their old friends. They are so beautiful and full of love. They help you with sightseeing because George knows everything there is to know about the whole region. He is an amazing artist also. He gave us a handmade suvenir, he let my husband play the guitar(he has a collection). Maria is an amazing cook. Everything you eat is local and made by her. They make their own olive oil and olive pasta, wine. The house has an old charm. Solid wood furniture, wooden floor, paved terrace,no tv. It's a wonderful experience!

George and Maria were perfect hosts! do not miss !!!

Just keep in mind that the way to ascend to Anavryti is for the brave only.
George will tell you exactly how to get there and what is the safest way

Staying for a couple of nights at this wonderful guesthouse high up in the Taygetes mountains was a highlight of our holiday. The panoramic views from the bedrooms and the breakfast/dining room are spectacular. Marie and Georges welcomed us as if we were part of their family and couldn't have done any more to make our stay with them a truly memorable experience. Marie is an excellent chef and prepared delicious traditional Greek dishes for us for dinner. The breakfast was excellent too with fresh fruit, yoghurt and home-made pastries/bread. Georges has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the mountain paths and many of their guests come especially for the hiking trails. Mystras is about 30 minutes drive away - there are certainly a lot of hairpin bends but the road is mainly wide and isn't difficult.
There wasn't anything that could have made our stay better. The house doesn't have aircon but the cool mountain air means that this isn't a problem (in spite of high temperatures in the valley).

Maria and Giorgios are really amazing hosts. You’ll feel at home right away. We had great breakfast as well as a lovely dinner prepared by Maria. The hosts use all the resources their environment has to offer (local products, local music, great tips to explore the area). The house is beautiful, offers a fantastic view and is set in a remote and very calm village.
Normally we’d like to keep Archontiko as a secret tip for visiting Greece, but now we shared it with you anyways - highly recommended stay!

Kanel and Maria, we are very happy that we met you. It is said that you will meet in you life people what you are deserved to meet and we are happy that we deserved you! Wonderful hotel, wonderful hosts. I just want to tell to every traveler, if you are near - stay in this hotel. Sunrise in mountains is incredible. Peace and wonderful views. House with history. Breakfast is very good.
Sign to hotel in last cross roads is not clear understandable. If you afraid from the road - just close you eyes :)

The location was beautiful although up a mountain road. Our hosts were exceptional, friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
We opted for the home cooked meal which was lovely, washed down with delicious wine and a rendition of bouzouki from George which was wonderful, a lovely evening.
Nothing springs to mind.

Great room, attention to detail in everything, exceptional breakfast and dinners (we took Maria and George up on their offer for dinners, and had wonderful experiences of authentic Greek cuisine), stunning location.
Our hosts were the most welcoming, charming, helpful and sophisticated hosts we've ever had during our many travels.
Nothing!

The hosts Georges and Maria were wonderfully welcoming. The position was stunning, if a little hair raising to get to it on the very twisty road. Well worth the effort though
Couldn’t fault it at all
