About this house rental
Classic Maine marsh-view beach cottage. Steps from Goose Rocks Beach, in a beautiful cove in quaint, historic Kennebunkport. Grab groceries, park the car, forget the world and enjoy paradise!!!
The house has three bedrooms - one queen room, one room with two twin beds, and one loft with a full-size bed. The living room and dining room span the entire front of the house with three walls of mostly windows overlooking the marsh. This is a classic, historic cottage, so the ceilings are not very tall and the home is not expansive. It’s about 900 square feet with everything on the first floor except the loft upstairs with the full-size bed.
The kitchen is fully stocked and has a functional island with all full-size appliances plus other small appliances like a microwave, blender, toaster, coffee pot, slow cooker, etc. There is a laundry room with a full-size washing machine and dryer off the kitchen. The bathroom is good-sized and includes a corner standing shower and a sink with a vanity for storage. There are hooks on the backs of the bathroom and bedroom doors for wet towels and clothes. The house has heating in the winter months and air conditioning in the summer months. The linens are provided - the beds are freshly made up with clean linens before your arrival and bath and kitchen towels are also provided.
Outside, the yard has plenty of flat space for yard games (cornhole and kubb are in the shed for your use), a picnic table, a 10' x 15' canopy, a hammock, six Adirondack chairs, and a propane grill. Goose Rocks Beach is a short walk from the house - it takes approximately 2 minutes to walk to the edge of the property, across the crosswalk, and down the beach path to reach the beach! There are beach towels, beach wagon, beach shade umbrella, beach mats, beach toys, four beach chairs, a paddleboard, two kayaks, oars, and life jackets for your use.
This is a private home in a small town. The Town has some simple good neighbor policies to follow about parking and noise. The good neighbor policies are posted on the refrigerator. Also, the Town trash collection takes place early on Saturday mornings in the summer and on Friday mornings the rest of the year. We will ask that if you are staying on a Friday or Saturday, depending on the time of year, that you kindly wheel the trash bins out to the curb from the shed on Thursday or Friday evening, and, if it isn't check-out day, wheel the bins back into the shed on Friday or Saturday afternoon after trash collection has occurred. Check-in is at 4pm and check-out is at 10am. We are unable to provide early checkins or late checkouts because of the tight cleaning schedule. Thank you!

We had an excellent stay at “The Quintessential Maine Beach cottage”. It was absolutely perfect for us.

The "QMBC" is adequately named! It's a 5 minute walk to GRB ⛱️ and we also enjoyed hanging out in the Adirondack chairs watching the tide come in and out, kayaking at high tide

We enjoyed our second stay at this site. Cannot beat the location. And Jill and her partner were so accommodating, going the extra step.

Had all the amenities needed.

Love this house. The best of both worlds. The marsh in the backyard for beautiful views and listening to the tide rush under the bridge is so tranquil. Able to fish and put kayaks in from the yard. But also only a two minute walk to the beach. We choose this house time after time bc we appreciate that we can bring our dog bc it wouldn’t be a vacation without him. Jill the owner is always so great in the chat before and during our stay and we are grateful we found our forever summer rental.

If I could rate this property higher than 5 stars, I would! Location was absolutely perfect, the house was clean, comfortable and welcoming. There's few other rentals that offer everything you need and want in the home (towels, linens, all of the outdoor equipment you need to have fun!)
Our family loved walking to Goose Rocks Beach, kayaking on the marsh, and grabbing muffins from the general store in the morning! It's a short drive to Downtown Kennebunkport or Cape Porpoise, giving you access to all of the best attractions, activities and restaurants in the area.
Jill's excellent communication was much appreciated as well! She answered all of my questions from the first inquiry until the day we left, and was always so friendly and personable. It felt like renting a home from a trusted friend!
This was our first trip to Maine but it will not be our last. We hope to be back soon!

We just wanted a place to relax for a few days. This place is literally a 2 minute walk from a very quiet beach. The sunset was beautiful and the place had everything you might need. Definitely recommend it.

Right near Goose Rocks Beach, quiet, clean, peaceful getaway overlooking a salt marsh.

Late April in Maine means empty beaches… and this cottage was perfect for a short vacation where solitude, dog walks along the beach, reading and sleeping was the addenda. We did go out to dinner twice… the Earth at Hidden pond and Via Sophia by the Sea… both minutes away… both 5 star restaurants that did not disappoint.

We had such a nice getaway at Goose rocks. The property was exactly as pictured and described however the views could not be beat. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets over the marsh and sunrises on our daily walks in the beach. Great location and plenty of room for a family of three.

We had a wonderful week at Sunset Cottage. The cottage is lovely, clean, and has everything that you will need. Jill is a wonderful host who is very attentive, kind, and generous. Can't wait to come back when the weather is a bit warmer and we can truly enjoy the beach and all that the area has to offer. Thanks so much for a great time.

This was our second stay with Jill. We really love the cottage and it's proximity to Goose Rocks. It's such a charming place with everything you'd need for a family trip. We had a great time at Sunset Marsh! It was a perfect spot for a short trip to Maine. The location was great! Watching the tides in the marsh and taking daily walks on the beach were the highlights of the trip! The house was clean and well stocked with anything and everything we might have needed. We will definitely consider staying here again!

I recently stayed at Sunset Marsh with my husband and two springer spaniels. We have been staying up and down the Maine and NH seacoast for years. This was our favorite place and we will return. We were there during one of the recent storms. We lost power for a bit- flashlights and lanterns were ready to go and easy to find. There were some particularly high tides that made for a boat house vibe. The elevated and strong foundation kept us safe. When the tide receded the beach was wonderful to explore. Jill was available for all questions and was warm and friendly.

Our goal was a comfortable home with a large table, good view from windows, and near the ocean. This is exactly what we got!

We had the best time during our stay! The cottage is amazing and there are so many nice details from the high quality linens to the very well stocked kitchen. There are games to play and tons of options on TV to watch. Even comfy thow blankets to get cozy! The location is perfect. We loved watching the tides come and go from the salt marsh and sunsets were stunning. The beach is less than a block away. We highly recommend and hope to return for another stay!!

This is my second time renting Sunset Marsh. The first was during the summer and this time for a girls weekend getaway for Winter Prelude. I love the location of this house tucked away from the hustle and bustle of town on the beach, it’s perfect for relaxing and just enjoying being in the moment. The fact that this home is dog friendly and I’m able to take my four legged baby with me makes it that much more magical—our morning walks on the beach even in the winter are so special and it’s become her happy place too!
The house is cozy and clean and the views from the family room area are what makes it so special.
Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Just like all the other reviews I read before going, we all thought the house was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen very well equipped . We lived looking out at the marsh. Goose rocks beach is right there so we had nice morning walks on the beach. No idea what this spot would be like in the summer but it was very quiet for us this weekend. Although it is a small house, it is laid out quite efficiently . We had a great time

I had to go to Kennebunkport and Portland for work and had my partner and fur baby come with us.
This place was truly one of the best places we have ever stayed at. It offered space to work at, a setting and view like no other, and we felt so welcomed and invited from the second we walked in.
Jill was not only accommodating but so on it with the communication and impeccable hostess vibes.
Thank you for giving us a place to rejuvenate, get work done, and make some lifelong Maine memories.
WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!
Thank you!!!!!!!! :)

Convenient to Goose Rocks beach access we were just two adults so home was quite comfortable . Getting in and out of kayaks at high tide was very difficult but worth the effort. Close to Kennebunkport and all it offers.

The property is located right on the marsh with beautiful scenery. The house looks small from the outside but is very spacious. Loved that it came equipped with so much in the kitchen. And tons of toys, books, board games etc. for the kids! We didn’t get to use the canoe or blow up paddle board but loved that we had the option. The beach was a two minute walk from the house. Overall was a great weekend away for my family! And Jill was very responsive when I contacted her about check in. Would absolutely recommend!

Beautiful area, short walk to the beach, very comfortable house.

The cottage is very cozy, well maintained and well stocked. The windows allow so much light in to warm the soul, and the view is fantastic in the dining and living area. We enjoyed watching the tide come in and go out each day in the outdoor seating. Be sure to bring your binoculars for watching the local birds. The only negatives were that the yard was unkept. The grass was very long and there were sticks and branches all around, however this year's rainy weather could be a contributing factor. Also, the kitchen stove hood is on its last leg, but the good news is the smoke alarms work very well. For those wanting to spend the day at the beach, you have all you need, including proximity to be able to walk there and back to the cottage in the event that you have forgotten anything. Lastly, we were happy to be able to bring our fury friend. She enjoyed both the cottage and the beach. Thank you to the host Jill for the welcome gift of hot pepper jam and crackers. Nice touch!

We totally enjoyed access to the ocean
and overlooking the marshland. It was a cozy retreat to come home to after exploring tourist spots. We appreciated the book full of suggestions for restaurants, sites, etc. try The jelly and crackers from our host was a nice welcome.

This place has everything we look for in a rental: clean, comfortable beds, stocked kitchen items. Great location for after Labor Day. Loved being on the salt marsh for bird watching, and loved having an easy, quick walk to the beach.

We had such a wonderful week in Goose Rocks. The property was perfectly situated so that we could enjoy the beach and the estuary. We kayaked, swam, bird watched, made s’mores and so much more. A lovely family get away!

Adorable, clean, and very comfortable cottage for our family vacation. Enjoyed beautiful sunsets over the marsh. Loved the short walk to the beach, as well as the convenience to the beach store and the Tides restaurant. Property was well-equipped with everything we needed and more. The owners were fantastic - very thoughtful and responsive. A GRB gem!

My family and I had a wonderful time at Goose Rocks Beach. Jill is a wonderful host that communicated all the information we needed just prior to our arrival. I had a couple questions that were answered quickly. Communication was excellent.
The house was fantastic. Plenty of room for our family of 5. We had some rain but the games that were there helped pass the time until we could get back on the beach The house was clean and comfortable, as were the beds. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed-and then some- to cook meals. Everything was clean and in good working order. The shed had was a great spot to stash our beach gear and had plenty of games and beach supplies in case you forget something.
The location couldn’t better. The marsh was in the backyard and we caught a beautiful sunset our first night there. Walk out the door and your feet are in the beach sand in 30 seconds. Can’t say enough about how great the beach is- plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the sand and water, even with young kids. The general store across the street from the house had excellent coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and more and we even got some great souvenirs from the gift shop upstairs.
The house was easy to find and amenities like the grocery store and pharmacy are close by. We even took a ride into a ride into downtown Kennebunkport
Overall 5/5 stars. Highly recommend this house if you are looking for a great beach getaway
