About this house rental
Three bedroom town house in a row house built in 1855, just 15 mins walk to the Halifax Waterfront. Located in a heritage area, one block from Citadel Hill and the Halifax Commons. A diverse, artistic and friendly residential neighbourhood in the center of Halifax.
The house is very warm and bright and features 11 foot ceilings with period trim, moldings and light fixtures on the main level, a well equipped kitchen and three bedroom on the second floor. There is a large desk and office chair on the second floor as well.
The whole town house is open to our guests and exclusively for your use. Parking is available (for one car only) around the back, on the corner of Bauer and Falkland Street.
This low-rise, heritage-controlled neighbourhood has many fitness resources (Halifax Commons park, outdoor roller/ice skating oval, Olympic size swimming pool, bouldering cafe). There are lots of good cafes and restaurants nearby. There is a craft brewery, community market, artisanal delicatessen and many artist-run galleries and shops nearby. And nothing in downtown Halifax is more than a comfortable walk away so the list of things to do includes deep-sea fishing, whale watching and sailing cruises on the Halifax Waterfront, theatre, live music, pubbing and clubbing in the downtown and lots of shops and restaurants catering to a wide range of interests and tastes. Halifax is home to six universities and so has a large and vibrant student scene (closest is NSCAD our fine arts university - so many artists reside in the area). The house is located in an urban residential neighbourhood, which is diverse, friendly, colourful, generous and accepting of others.
The house is located within a two-minute walk to major bus routes 1,6,7 and 10. The train/bus station is a 25-minute walk away but there are several city bus lines passing on Gottingen Street (a couple of minutes walk away) and the airport bus stops at nearby hotels (~10-minute walk). Taxi and Uber are available and respond quickly as well.
We have very good high-speed WiFi (327 Mbps download/12 Mbps upload) throughout the townhouse. There is a washer and dryer located on the main level under the stairs. We don't have cable TV but we provide access to Netflix. We provide towels, bedsheets and blankets, kitchen towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo and all cleaning supplies.

Heritage property with lots of charm and all the amenities. We had more than enough room for 4 adults. Loved our stay and would rent again if we return to Halifax.

My family and I had a fantastic stay at this VRBO. The place was clean and spacious. The hosts were incredibly responsive and very flexible. When our flights were delayed and cancelled they were so accommodating. Would highly recommend this spot!

Great location to access coffee shops, restaurants, outdoor activities and downtown waterfront area. Quiet neighbourhood and convenient road connections to Dartmouth, the Valley and South Shore for exploring outside the city area. Hosts responded to questions very quickly and provided essential information- extra parking, garbage requirements, sightseeing etc. Liked that private parking was provided.

The location of the property was the best thing about it - walking distance to downtown and the Citadel; a short car ride to Dal, Kings and St. Mary's Universities; located in a heritage area with historical colourful houses, great cafes, breweries and the famous "Dee Dees!" Being a heritage house built in 1855, guests should expect quirky old things like slanted staircases and old wooden floors, but that is part of the charm. It is spacious and perfect for a family but know the 3 bedrooms are up a steep flight of stairs and there is one small bathroom on the main floor that is in need of renovation. The house could use some fixups and more thorough cleaning. Having a parking spot close to downtown is nice but it is tricky navigating 3 cars into a very tight spot and at one time there were 3 cars, 2 large trucks and a motorcycle all squished into the small space! We had to find parking on the crowded street. However, parking cleared up on the weekends when it is free! Check in was easy and Kevin was quick to respond.

This property is fine for a home base if you'll be spending most of your time exploring the Halifax area (we were in town for a wedding). Location is a 10 minutes walk to shopping and dining: another 10 minutes gets you to the waterfront. The property has parking, good climate control, strong wifi, a big fridge and hob and plenty of hot water. The hosts were very good communicators. That said, the place is haphazardly furnished, decorated and equipped. Could use an updating or restoration and a serious deep clean. If you have mobility issues, be wary: the bathroom is on the first floor, while the bedrooms are on the second. The steps on the staircase leading upstairs are warped and worn, challenging balance and bad knees (although the carpeting helps with traction and the banister is very sturdy). All in all not a bad place to lay your head, but short on the details that make a great rental.

House was an old home with wainscoting and pine floors in a great neighborhood. Rooms were large and kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom was on the ground floor, while the bedrooms were upstairs which was a nuisance for nighttime trips to the toilet. Kevin and Catherine inquired if everything was good after we arrived.and asked if we needed anything.

House was in a great location for us as we wanted to be close to the Scotia Bank Center. We attended a concert and could walk home in less than 10 minutes. Short walking distance to downtown, Citadel Hill, the Commons, public transport, etc. Very beautiful street. House was roomy and had everything we needed. Historic home with a lot of character but does require some updates and maintenance. Beds were extremely comfortable and pillows were great. We had a fantastic visit.

Our family of 7 adults and 1 infant stayed at this great heritage row house for 5 nights. The hosts were very responsive throughout our stay and provided excellent information for both check in and check out. The home was very clean and welcoming upon our arrival. There were enough bedrooms and beds to accommodate all of us, however we would have enjoyed having more living room seating to be able to fit us all comfortably. The kitchen was equipped with plenty of dishes, glassware, utensils and cookware. There is also one bathroom, which was clean and well stocked with towels, hairdryers and toiletries if needed. We loved the location, as it was easily walkable to many restaurants, the Citadel, the waterfront, the library, the public gardens, etc. We were able to find parking on the street and purchased a visitor parking pass for the duration of our stay. The one thing we missed was that Fridays are street cleaning days and we didn't move our vehicle. It is a $25 fine so heads up to any other visitors who are not familiar with that weekly requirement. We were very happy with our stay and would recommend this house to anyone who would enjoy experiencing a historic setting within easy walking distance to a wide variety of dining and sightseeing destinations in the city.

Very cozy and inviting place. Will definitely recommend and would love to come back one day.

We absolutely loved our stay. The place is a short distance to everything we needed, harbourfront, north end and Dalhousie and we walked it everyday.
Kevin was responsive to all of our requests. Would definitely stay here again. You must try Dee Dees ice cream at the end of the block.
The only downfall for us as older women is the main floor bathroom, but that was in the listing!!
Great place for sure!!

This accommodation was close to downtown and the neighbourhood had some great restaurants ie Edna is a couple of blocks away and was a superb dining experience! Many interesting shops in the same area. The accommodation is old and in need of some updates and bathroom renewal. Bedrooms upstairs and there are many stairs to the Main floor bathroom. There is parking behind the unit by the fence, but it is a bit tricky to navigate as it is shared with two other vehicles.

Ideal city location
We enjoyed staying at the Downtown Halifax house. We were able to walk everywhere! We loved being close to the park, the wharf, downtown restaurants and shops, and the excellent ice cream shop, Dede’s! The home had all the amenities needed to make meals, do laundry, and relax after a long day.
