About this house rental
Welcome to our renovated 1896 bungalow, we envisioned a place where visitors could cozy up, stay a while and experience city living amidst the peacefulness of park life. The house is within walking distance of the 250+ acre Riverview Park so wildlife and trail
adventures await! Please be aware that there is an abundance of wildlife in the evening, the family of deer that pass through are very docile, as are the raccoon, groundhogs, possum, and cats that inhabit the neighborhood. You will f ind that all the wildlife live in harmony with the community.
About the Neighborhood
Explore the woods at nearby Riverview Park and discover many other city amenities that are close to the house. Created in 1894, the park predates the City of Allegheny’s annexation to the City of Pittsburgh in 1907. Formed largely from farmland, today’s Riverview Park is known for its dense woodlands and steep topography. The park’s extensive network of trails invites hikers, joggers, and the occasional horseback rider into the woods. The park is also home to the landmark Allegheny Observatory, a visitor’s center, a swimming pool and activities building, the natural beauty of the Mairdale watershed, and the popular two-mile Riverview Loop. Residents enjoy the park's pool, playground, ball field, shelters and summertime concerts and movies.
The home is in a residential neighborhood close to the local Carnegie library, several pizza/sub shops, and other unique eateries. The house is within driving distance of full-service grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, dry cleaners, gas stations, restaurants, bars, and other night life, however, all of these types of establishments are within one or two miles. Unique to the area is the local Bread Works for delicious artistry breads.
From the house you will be able to walk out the front door and down the street into the lower part of Riverview Park. There are an extensive choice of trails to choose from if you like to hike or mountain bike. The terrain is hilly with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is rich in wildlife so don't be surprised to see deer, possum, raccoons, turkeys, ground hogs and the occasional fox at night. The wildlife is very docile and are used to being around people. Please remember that although they are gentle, their personal space needs to be respected.
Getting around
There is plenty of free street parking out front. You can walk, Uber or bus to just about any of the main attractions as this home is just minutes to Downtown, PNC Park, Heinz Field, AGH, North Shore dining and activities. It is within walking distance of the bus line. It is a 10-12 Uber ride to the strip district, south side or PPG Paints Arena. Easy access to I-279 and the parkway. It is about 20 minutes to the airport, depending on time of day/traffic.
The Space Essentials
We take pride in offering a naturally clean, warm and welcoming space. There is a queen size bed in the master bedroom. The house is stocked with linens, towels and amenities in the kitchen and the bathroom to make your stay more convenient. There is a Black & Decker 4-in-1 coffee-maker, as well as microwave, pots, pans and other cooking items in the kitchen for guests to be able to cook their own food. There is free WiFi and TV with Xfinity Cable. The house is cleaned using only natural environmentally friendly products and we are passionate about recycling.

My wife and our two dogs had a comfortable stay! Lisa was a super and attentive host. The neighborhood cats, led by Pearl, were adorable ambassadors -- even if we kept them a safe distance from our two dogs. We saw 3 deer in the neighborhood. I highly recommend, as Lisa mentions in her listing, a visit to Riverview Park, an oasis of nature amid suburbia.

This property was perfect for my son and I. We had everything that we needed and Pearl the cat greeted us at the door! I would highly recommend Lisa's place!

Was clean, although could use some deep cleaning of spider webs and the like. Neighborhood was a little difficult to get to/from. Parking was "on street" but really means on the sidewalk. Communication was decent. Clearer instructions on check-out would be nice. Overall cute and quiet stay that met our needs. Will be looking for something closer to commerce and activities in the future.

We were in town for a concert at the Andy Warhol museum. Finding the property was easy. Access was easy. House is super cute and unique. Clean. Comfortable. Very easily and quickly caught a Lyft to and from the Andy Warhol Museum. Saw some deer and cats at night. Very pleasant experience. Will stay again if back in Pittsburgh.

I enjoyed my entire experience from the time I booked until I locked the door for the final time. Her customer service was amazing and her personality comes through the messages.
Loved the charm of the bungalow, the nice touches of providing snacks and the welcome cats are awesome.
The location was perfect so I could easily go to the north shore to watch the panthers, steelers & pirates game. I drove twice and took a lyft once.
I will return to this special place and enjoy it again,

Everything was clean and it’s close to town. The BEST part is Pearl the Welcome Cat❤️

Charming little house made more memorable thanks to Pearl the friendliest cat. Had everything we needed including deer so can't complain. The neighbourhood is a bit rough around the edges in that rustbelt sort of way, but overall things were nice and peaceful.

As soon as we pulled up to the location, everything was just absolutely perfect. As we stepped out of the car, we were greeted by an adorable, super loving kitty, cat named Pearl! She followed us up the stairs and waited outside while we checked out the interior. Everything was super cute and modern And it was quite hot that day. The temperature was sat at a crisp refreshing 68°! Everything looked exactly as it did in the pictures! So super cute and very cozy. Upon checking the welcome packet turns out pearl greets and be friends all of its tenets. She eventually came inside, and it was amazing. She was like a pre-programmed cat. Super loving, and wonderful. The best qualities all in one kitty. Not to mention, Lisa was phenomenal. She was very quick in response to any concerns or questions I had.
She was such a kind lady, and very very welcoming.
We absolutely will be back!

This was a great place for the two of us and our dog, Loretta. She loved lying in the sun in the back yard and on the stoop. We loved lounging in the living room. Easy access to get to anywhere.

Pet-friendly older building with an eclectic style. Great communication and a very accommodating host. Super nice! Yes, this street has seen better days, but it is convenient to other neighborhoods by car and so this was not a problem. No fenced yard but there were many easy places for the dogs to go to the bathroom. It was affordable and it worked for us.

Everything was wonderful about this place and the hostess! Would stay again and hope to when traveling to Pittsburgh ! One caution, if you are older and not sure on your feet this is not the place for you-we are both in our late 60’s and hike all the time, so not a problem!! Love this house!!

We were here for 2 nights and this was a nice play to stay where we could easily drive into downtown Pittsburgh but didn't have to worry about overnight parking. There's not really much to do in the local area but there's a great bakery and several coffee shops within a mile or so driving distance.

The property was exactly as described. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. From a fully equipped kitchen to soft, absorbent towels, we had everything we needed. The north side of Pgh was convenient for visiting folks all over the city. Lisa was amazing in responding quickly to a couple of questions I had. Great stay, great host!

Inaccessible
I was not able to access the property. The VRBO mobile app links did not work and the property owner phone number was incorrect. VRBI customer service wait time was 1 1/2 hrs. I was never able to access instructions to get into the property and use the facilities and no refund was issued.
