About this house rental
This oceanfront property overlooks the iconic Malibu Colony beach, incredible views, large bedrooms, and walking distance to shopping and fine dining in the area. Enjoy a nice relaxing soak in the outdoor hot tub, sit around the fire pit and indulge in s’mores, you can also fish right off the deck. This is a family and dog friendly home with a special history, built in 1932, has been home to famous musicians and actors over the years.
This magnificent home was owned by Vincent Price in the 1930s. Birds still nest in the trees he planted out back. Steven Stills lived and recorded here in the 60s. It would be a crime to not share this amazing property, its beauty and history, like the time the Malibu Sheriffs stopped in, not to arrest anyone, but to ask if they could listen to Buffalo Springfield and Jimi Hendrix jam in 1967. We still keep the piano in the corner as a tribute.
This classic home has sweeping views of the ocean throughout the house, a large family room, a bar and a recently renovated kitchen with modern appliances. Upstairs you will find two large suites, each with attached full baths and private patios overlooking the Pacific. Downstairs there is a double day bed in the sunroom. Right around the corner from Jerry's Bar (our in home bar) quite possibly the best place to enjoy a drink and a sunset in all of Malibu while you watch the dolphins swim by and a flock of pelicans fly over.
You will find several outdoor common spaces that invite you to enjoy the property, multi-level outdoor porches with garden, a Jacuzzi, an outdoor fireplace and plenty of activities for the outdoor adventurer to use, including 5 sea kayaks - fishing right off the back deck (but you have to get your bait from Wylie's Bait Shack)! Easy beach access, stairs from the house into the water -with a public staircase just one house over. Oh, and the house sits center to the famous Colony surf point break.

Really a beautiful house with the ocean right off the patio. It is 3 bedrooms and seems even bigger than that, lots of private areas and beautiful outdoor decks. The neighborhood is very quiet but close to everything you may need. You can walk to Ralphs, there is a nice beach for swimming 2 houses down and a larger sandy beach where dogs are allowed just a short drive away (you could walk but my dog is 14 so we took the car.) Darryl, the host, was very considerate and helpful. We loved it.

Great getaway for our kids and dogs! Extremely high tides during our stay made the waves very dramatic on the patio!

We brought our three adult children for a Malibu vacation, and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Can't beat the location - fell asleep to the waves. Darryl was very helpful, showed us how to use the kayaks, and a new Playstation charger as it was lost. Stocked the fridg with waters and sodas and some cold beer, which was lovely. Its a homey place -- not updated recently, but very clean and comfortable. We would come back!

The location and views were absolutely beautiful. The host is responsive and left us wine, beer and snacks on arrival. The upstairs of the home is dated but the beds were comfortable and in the listing it said the guest room had two twin beds but it is actually a king which my boys had to share. The home was very clean and we truly enjoyed our stay. Would book again.

The outdoor spaces were the best part of this home, perched over the the crashing waves during high tide. Nice quiet beach walks with few others on the beach.

I have stayed at a few different Malibu vacation homes over the years. This was my favorite stay by far. The house was very clean, comfy, and homey. It is full of cool antiques and has such a fun, vintage beach house vibe. I can now really imagine what “old Malibu” was like. We were so impressed with the linens, towels and comfort of the beds/pillows/lounge furniture - loved the daybed for naps with the ocean waves in the background. And the outdoor space is as advertised - hot tub worked great and very private; comfy loungers on the lower deck were awesome for staring out at the ocean, watching surfers, reading, and chilling with some snacks and wine; and outdoor table was nice for meals when we didn’t want to eat out.
The location is also so perfect. Close to everything in central Malibu. But being on Malibu Road, you don’t hear the crazy PCH traffic (and are able to more easily pull in/out of the driveway!). And there is very easy access to “private” beaches (accessible to the public but mostly surfers/locals). Great for dog walking.
Darryl is the best host I’ve worked with. Everything was made very easy. He checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Provided all the beach necessities, as well as some snacks, firewood, champagne and other beverages (including lots of bottled water!). This was honestly the most relaxed I have been on vacation, and it was much needed. I will definitely be back.

This is a special older beach house with a variety of interesting nooks and crannies to enjoy with friends, family and the pooches. The views are terrific, and there is easy access to the beach two doors down.

We absolutely loved this home and would return in a heartbeat. The views were stunning and though the home was spacious, it still felt cozy, warm, and welcoming.
Darryl, the VRBO host and contact, was easy to reach whenever we had a question or needed something and even helped out with a special, funny birthday surprise.
The kitchen has modern amenities and the TVs are all big and modern, but the rest of the home feels like a true beach house - soft towels, comfy seating, nothing precious or so fancy you're scared to break something if you touch it. The bedrooms also have great views.
Also, the jacuzzi has a terrific view of the water and the jets aren't crazy intense - just right!
My favorite room was right off the bar, a little nook that's perfect for yoga or a nap and of course, has views of the ocean. Ah, it's heaven!
And if you need to order a really great meal, there's a restaurant called OLLO nearby that was excellent!
Really looking forward to returning and visiting again!

Thank you, Daryl, for being the best host! We always love staying in your beautiful home in Malibu. The house is always welcoming, clean and comfortable. Very nice linens and pillows and so many thoughtful touches. All the details are there to make this an amazing sanctuary of luxury and tranquility. What a blessing to listen to the ocean waves day and night! Other amazing memories included the gorgeous sunsets, yoga on the deck, and cooking fresh seafood from the Malibu Seafood market.

Darryl was a pleasure to work with and had everything you need for a relaxing casual Malibu experience. Beautiful view right on water with sound of waves and cool breeze constant. Really secure set up for dogs with multiple patios and on a not too busy Malibu Road(compared to crazy crowded PCH). Very comfortable place. Bathrooms could use some updating but water pressure is great. Hot tub is awesome.

Unbelievable time in Malibu
We absolutely loved our stay at the beachfront house. From the moment we walked in the house we felt at home. Darryl made the whole process a breeze. The house has a nostalgia and hominess that's you don't find in the modern properties. It had all the amenities needed to cook, make a cup of coffee, beach activities, etc. even more important the sound of the waves and smell of the ocean are so calming. Our family and friends absolutely enjoyed every moment. We miss it and can't wait to visit again.

Heaven is a place on Earth (and it's in Malibu)!
Our stay at Darryl's beautiful oceanfront home in Malibu was everything and more! Darryl was incredibly welcoming, thoughtful, and accessible whenever we needed anything. The home was impeccably clean and comfortable. Soothing ocean waves lulled us into a blissful trance! Numerous patios and the gardens offered lush views. We relished the sunsets, long beach walks with the dog, and movie nights with cozy fire and s'mores. We did quite a bit of cooking in the kitchen, which offered plenty of spices, oils, and pots and pans. We hope to come back soon to stay in this Malibu home which is such a gem! Darryl is a great person who really cares about his guests and likes to share his lovely home. We could not ask for more from a host, which made the trip that much more special! THANK YOU, Darryl!
