un vrai château restauré avec gout dans le respect des traditions, une table qui devrait être étoilée tellement nous avons été surpris par son raffinement et sa qualité ! bref .. une parenthèse hivernale parfaite .

Unique property in a beautiful setting. The family run the chateau with two other staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and tried their best to communicate with us with our limited French.
The pool area is located lovely and we were offered drinks on one of the days we were there.
The room did not have air conditioning and it was extremely hot. There was a fan provided but two were needed to make any difference. Small things like there was just one small mirror in the bathroom which made getting ready with two of us difficult. The shower has glass windows into the bedroom, there are some stick on panels to obscure part of the glass but not great for full privacy.

Beautiful and cosy chateau in truly dreamy surroundings. We made a mistake in our booking and the hosts still accommodated us without hesitation. The first evening of our stay the chateau hosted a lovely concert of local musicians coupled with delicious dinner of local specialties, which really added to the fantastic time we had there. 100% recommend and certainly will be coming back!

The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful and made our stay an overall positive experience. Although, the chateau is located between a busy road (front) and busy TGV rail track (back), the bedroom widow double glazing gave us a good noise protection. The chateau has a lot of charm and the park around it with chicken and cats wondering freely around very relaxing and enjoyable. The swimming pool was nice and an ideal place to relax in the middle of the park. Breakfast was very nice and again served by an incredibly nice staff.
The bathroom are tiny, Tokyo style but worse as the sliding door does not really close the space and gives you no privacy. There is no real air conditioning. There is a small fan in the corner of the room and we were lucky that it was really too hot that night as the choice would have been to keep the window opened (with the road noise + mosquitos invasion) or sweat all night. There was only bedside table for two beds and one of the beds was very creaky (squeaky). There is supper on offer but the menu was very very limited (platters including a vegetarian one or a local pie). We stayed at a hotel with a similar description (converted castle, swimming pool, beautiful surrounding, restaurant...) 100 km from Bouchemaine for the same price that was truly a 5* hotel and not a B&B.

Very beautiful
Nothing - this Chateux was reopened circa 18 months ago and so the owners are on a journey with it, they were very nice and I’d definitely return

Beautiful chateau, empathetically refurbished while retaining its charm. Breakfast was in a sunlit room full of period books and the cutlery and crockery were all exquisite. Food delicious (cloches for butter) . Staff were all super attentive and approachable - nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were a lovely blend of old and new. Added bonus were the chickens, a kitten and pigs, ducklings and rabbits - children would love.
Maybe one additional choice on the supper menu but was still amazing outside in beautiful grounds.

Setting, grounds and building beautiful.
The shower room was open to the bedroom and the separate toilet lacked privacy.

It was a nice experience, its like in movie experience…
The lawn is very big, my dog even run around.
Can’t help wonder how they manage to maintain the structure…
It has no front desk.

Very nice hotel with lots of old patina. Breakfast was lovely but dinner was not.
The dinner was not up to the level of everything else.

Wonderful owners / staff. Beautiful setting near the river and a short cycle from Angers along a bike trail. Room was well furnished and bed was very comfortable. Lovely evening meal and breakfast.
No door on the bathroom (but this is going to be resolved soon!)

Lovely character property, in a quiet location and with excellent food and helpful staff. Easy to park after the drive down from the UK.
The property is still under development, which was no problem, but we look forward to staying again when all the facilities are finished.

The chateau and grounds are stunning. We stayed in the self catering cottage. Tastefully decorated. Comfortable beds. The bunnies just across the way were an absolute bonus for my daughter! Breakfast was beautiful. I loved the china. The coffee was good, as was the cheese. The selection of food was great. Lovely selection of home made and locally produced foods.
The evening meal was the best meal of our holiday.
The hosts were lovely and very accomodating of my broken French.
We would absolutely love to return in the future.
I can't list any faults.

Quiet, boutique, family run Chateau.
Finishing their first season and still completing some external renovations.
Chef offering lovely daily set menu. Nice swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Beautifully restored chateau, with comfortable rooms, clever en-suites, high ceilings and great views of the river and lots of history! The staff were so helpful and spoke English when our French wasn’t up to scratch! Walking distance to Bouchemaine along the river with its shops and restaurants. 15 mins from the lovely city of Angers. We hired a car and drove from Paris (next time we’ll go by train) we visited wine cellars, went cycling (on electric bikes) and kayaking. Delicious French breakfasts with breads, pastries & cheeses in the panelled dining room, dinner outside with locally sourced produce.
Surrounding the new swimming pool area with hot tub in the garden is still undergoing some renovation but there is plenty of space for the sun loungers and umbrellas.

Beautiful, stately chateau being lovingly restored in an authentic manner. The location in Bouchemaine was ideal for discovering the Loire Valley.

Very nice place! When we visited it was incredibly hot (+40 C) - the lady who checked us in was exceptional - she greeted us with two cold beers and ensured there was a fan for our room.
The pool was a welcome escape from the heat. Lots of lounge chairs and placement ensured you could have as much sun or shade you wanted.
The Château itself showed very well and the care and attention to the renovation work is evident.
Also, the car charger on site came in handy for our PHEV rental car.

The owners couldn’t have been more helpful.
They really went out of their way to help us
it’s in a fabulous location with lovely river walks and good restaurants
It isn’t finished ; we were warned so that was fine.

The house was obviously very grand once upon a time and some of the rooms have been very nicely decorated.
It simply isn’t ready yet. For over 200 euros a might including breakfast we feel extremely short changed. The swimming pool and jacuzzi area is a construction site. If there is a sauna we weren’t shown where it was.
The entrance to the property is covered in rubble, some of the walkways aren’t finished and there are big loose stones and big holes in the ground. Add to this the fact that we had four unplanned power cuts in less than 24 hours which meant we were walking around an empty house at midnight trying to find a night porter because there is no reception desk and we’re sad to say it made for a pretty terrible last night of our holiday. The electrics were tripped by us simply turning on light switches which was a big worry as it would strongly suggest they are far from safe.
To not be told before that the hotel isn’t finished yet, nor to be offered any discount was very poor behaviour which we would consider intentionally misleading as we wouldn’t have booked had we known the state it was in.
We’re also somewhat dubious of some of the reviews that have come before this as we have no idea how anyone who has paid full price could rate this hotel highly?
