Things to Know

The Sanctuary HOA schedules structural upkeep during the off-season, blocking off certain sides of the buildings, making it unsafe for our guests to be on the balcony. The balcony may not be available for guests from October to mid-May.
This property is managed by Vacasa Virginia LLC.

The condominium floor plan with a three bedroom three bath, along with laundry facilities inside the unit, big living room, dining room, and good size kitchen have plenty of space for people to spread out, along with an awesome oceanfront view.

Very comfortable condo and perfect views of the ocean, and location close to False Cape state park. Relaxing time

I enjoyed this location for the view and that it was close to a working elevator. It has more than enough space with a large screen tv and comfy chairs in the living room. The beds weren’t to comfortable. The patio area was filthy full of spiders and needing a deep clean. We visited during the offseason so that may explain why the balcony wasn’t as clean.

Plenty of space, ocean view. Easy beach access.

Property was great! Beautiful view!

The Sanctuary is a wonderful property. It’s beautiful and secluded. If you want to get away from noise and crowds, this is a great spot. My husband and I are regular condo renters now for most of our vacations. We take pride in researching properties and their amenities. Adams Escape seemed to have it all! Upon our initial entry we loved it. Great beach front facing condo you can sit on balcony and listen to the water, after you sweep, clean the outside table of crumbs and turn the air conditioning off so you can actually hear the water. The master bathroom shower curtain smelled strong of urine and also had mold near the top of the shower curtain. The mint green chase in the living room needs to be replaced as you can tell many butts have occupied this seat or at least change the covering. Batteries in both remotes for living room and master bedroom were dead, we bought more to replace. Oh and did I mention the door knob when walking into the unit seemed to be broken however we were able to get in. The bed slept good, the kitchen is well stocked with utensils plates pots and pans to cook with. The unit was overall clean. I believe it needs a little more attention on replacing things after continued use. First time to VB it was nice! There is a onsite Mexican restaurant. Grocery stores dollar stores and other restaurants about 15-20 mins out. I hope this review helps someone!

The unit was not cleaned when we arrived. The bunk bed ladder broke when my son stepped on it. The board for the top bunk broke as well. The bedroom door didn't close. The people working at the condo were not friendly super friendly, we got waved off twice with no verbal response. The beach was great.

The condo is right on the beach. One of 2 elevators in the bldg was out of service and the only other one is not handicap accessible. Waking up 4 flights of stairs daily, multiple times, is a challenge for an older occupant.

The condo was very nice! Unfortunately the pool wasn’t open because of the hurricane and it was full of sand, but that was not the fault of the Sanctuary. First time staying in a condo and I was very happy.

After driving 11 hours with 2 young kids, we were hoping for a relaxing trip. However, we arrived to find a filthy condo (baseboards dirty, toilets and tubs dirty, shower curtain moldy, spider webs and spiders everywhere, stains on the walls, filthy porches, dust everywhere and spider webs hanging from light fixtures, etc.). The worst part was the filthy, sand covered floors. My one year old had filthy hands and knees after crawling on the floor upon arrival. My family was disgusted and wore shoes inside all day. This was a total let down. Management offered to send someone to clean. This seemed like even more of an inconvenience having to wait for another sub par cleaner to come and invade the space we paid for. Will never return to this property again and will avoid Vacasa-managed properties at all costs. We also talked to other guests who had similar experiences. This was clearly not an isolated incident. We couldn’t wait to escape Adams escape. Perhaps Vacasa should follow the “ultimate cleaning checklist” on THEIR OWN website. I don't usually give feedback like this but felt this time it is warranted. We were super excited to stay here and the pictures looked amazing. We purchased early check in only to be told the week before that they would be unable to meet that and it would take up to 6 weeks to refund our money......hmmm...ok. Then the day of check-in I get a call late in the morning that the place wouldn't be ready until very late in the day and well passed check in. If we were to arrive early we were free to purchase cleaning supplies and clean the place ourselves to which they would reimburse us any cost. No thank you. We finally arrive to the check in and there was no real service whatsoever - more like a fast food drive tbru with no one to answer any questions. We get to the condo and walk in. We had no idea if the place had been cleaned or not. The floors were filthy - dirt ever where. Half the beds were made. So, I call the office to which they put me on a long hold only to come back and say they will send someone. No one ever came. So after paying tons of money in rental and fees my family and I had to clean the place ourselves. We vacuumed the entire place, made beds and purchased cleaning wipes to wipe down every service. The kitchen counters were disgusting as was the furniture. I also attempted to clean the balconies but didn't make much progress because they were so far gone. The view would have been nice if it wasn't for the windows being so dirty you couldn't really see thru them. So, long story short - we paid a lot of money to stay at a beachfront property that we couldn't really use the balconies or take advantage of the views. Lastly, the tubs were absolutely gross. They were so clogged that you basically took a shower in your (and someone else's) dirt because the water just accumulated at the bottom of the tub and took hours to drain.
Extremely disappointed with Vacasa and the property. It could have been a nice place if there was some basic upkeep and a thorough cleaning. We will not be coming back ever again to a Vacasa property.

Gorgeous view, spacious condo, nicely appointed kitchen, very clean through except patios. BUT, air conditioner on patio is filthy and needs work, very loud, you have to cut the AC off inside in order to sit on patio. Only one of the TVs work, the one in main bedroom does not turn on at all.

We love the location as we've spent our beach week at The Sanctuary, always ocean side, for the past 6 years.
However, when we checked in at 4pm, the condo had not been cleaned. Lots of apologies via text since no one answers phones, but when we learned that we were #21 on the housekeeping list for that day, and they (two sweet, apologetic ladies who thanked us profusely for not berating them) had two more to do, we knew why. And the place was just as dirty when they left. We don't blame them. We were tired at 9 pm, ready for bed, and they were exhausted. The recent VACASA purchase of Sandbridge Realty isn't working. We feel cheated. We don't expect spic and span at the beach, but absolutely nothing was done. I spent my first hours washing sheets, running dishwasher, sweeping and wiping down surfaces. It was rather disgusting...feet were black just going barefoot across the living room, light bulbs were burnt out in a bathroom making it barely usable in the dark, my husband unclogged the shower, the deck finally became usable two days before we left as it was power washed then. It had been filled with dirt and pigeon droppings.
Just not a good experience this year. And the only variable is VACASA management.

We enjoyed staying at this home. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies to cook, the room was spacious for our group and being away from the pool helped it to be quiet. We thought the housekeeping before we came in was poor, sand & footprints everywhere that indicated it was not well cleaned. I would stay here again and hope they improve the housekeeping.

We've been staying at this condo complex for years, and we appreciated Adam's Escape (our first time in that condo). It was nicely decorated and had all of the items we needed. We were disappointed in Vacasa, however, and issues there started off our trip very poorly. We will not rent from this company again.
