About this house rental
Welcome to A Stone's Throw, perfectly located only 1 block away from Lake Superior's agate beach, the sandy shores of the bay and to downtown Grand Marais, Mi. Bring the bikes! Bike up Coast Guard Point, relax on the beach and still have time for day trips out of town. Walking distance to beach, bay and downtown bars. Well behaved dogs are welcome ;)
Out the side door of the property is a large deck with a seating for all guests. When it gets close to sunset you can easily walk to the large public deck, to enjoy a beautiful, colorful show in the sky. As night descends some will enjoy hunting fluroscent sodalite-GLOWING- rocks on the beach with UV lights and if the conditions are right, they will also have the opportunity to see a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
Four bedooms- all Queen beds, and the master suite as an additional full size futon couch, so easily sleeps 10 persons. Three full bathrooms makes it even better
There is a fire pit and we offer free wood to burn. There is a propane grill with a back up tank, just in case. There is a good size lawn for games and a bean bag toss is available to use.
Grand Marais, MI has several points of interest, including Sable Falls, Au Sable Lake, Pickle Barrel Museum, Post Office Museum, and the Light Keepers House Museum, in addition there is a self guided walking tour of the town. This location is also convenient for day trips into Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Tahquamenon Falls, Oswald Bear Ranch, Kitch-iti-kipi (Michigan's largest natural freshwater spring), Historic Fayette State Park, and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, just to name a few.
The house includes 2 common areas; one with relaxed seating and one that has a dining table that seats six. The adjacent kitchen has a breakfast bar with 4 high top chairs (close proximity to the dining room table), stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. Smaller applicances and cooking supplies are provided such as coffee maker, (both Keurig and Mr. Coffee drip), toaster, electric hot water kettle, blender, air popcorn popper, crock pot/slow cooker, pots/pans, silverware, plates, and glassware.
Yes there is wi-fi and a smart TV. You can sign in to your Amazon or Netflix, etc. In addition there is a DVD player with a selection of movies.
A reasonable amount of paper products and cleaning supplies, including laundry detergent will be made available. Grand Marais does have a small local grocery store, but most guests find it more suitable to bring groceries, especially specific branded items that you will be wanting to enjoy during your stay. It is highly recommended to bring groceries with you on your trip to the U.P.

It was perfect for our reunion! Sharing a house is much better than a hotel and A Stone's Throw was spacious and comfortable, just the right size for the eight of us brothers and sisters. Walking distance to the beach and town was a bonus!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location of the house was perfect for the beach. We were able to keep our boat in the bay and the driveway easily accommodated our trailer. The house was nicely stocked with whatever we could’ve needed. We had plenty of everything from toilet paper to firewood!

We loved being able to walk to the beach at the lake. The kids enjoyed using the sand toys provided. It was unusually warm during our stay, but there was enough breeze during the night to cool the house.
The firepit was a relaxing end to our day as well.

Everything was clean and comfortable.
It was nice to have 3 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms. Fans in each room which was nice and the futon was comfortable as well for sleeping.
Kitchen was nice and had plenty of counter space to prepare/serve meals. It was also nice to have a drip coffee maker as well as the K cup.
The sensor light between the bedroom off the kitchen and the bathroom/laundry room was a great idea!
* If I had 1 thing to recommend, it would be to put a hand rail on the steps that go up to the deck to the dining room as my mom is 86 and was a little difficult for her.
It was a very nice place to stay and would definitely stay again. Thank you for having us.

Molly was a great host. The house is in a wonderful location for Grand Marais. Definitely is a plus that the property has 3 bathrooms as my whole family stayed with us. There is plenty of room to park trailers in the yard. We also enjoyed the large deck.

Very clean and spacious. With 8 women the 3rd bathroom was a god send, lol. It had everything we needed and then some. We were within walking distance to everything. The hostess, Molly was very nice and pleasant. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone. We didn’t need for anything except our clothes and food, which we had too much of, lol.

We enjoyed a week away from the hustle and bustle of city life in a beautiful home walking distance to Lake Superior. With 3 grown grandsons I needed a place with extra room and this rental unit had it!

Communication with Molly is the best experience I've ever had using VRBO! She is on top of things! Check-in was easy and the place is located perfectly for rock hunting, walking downtown and looking for the Northern lights at night. We look forward to staying again.

Just a Stones Throw was perfect for our quick stay in Gran Marais. Easy walk to Lake Superior and to the small, very friendly town.
The house was exactly as described and very clean. The hostess quickly responded to all messages and made the whole process very easy.
If we are ever back to the upper peninsula, will definitely love to stay at this house again.

We all loved our stay at your place. It's so nice inside. You thought of everything a person might need. We brought items not knowing for sure but didn't need them. The house is so much larger inside than it looks. Decorated so cute. The only problem in cleanliness was short black hairs found in the sink and on the floor in the master's suite. We all have blonde hair. Otherwise spotless. If it's still available next year we will be renting again for sure. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

We had a wonderful week at the property and in Grand Marais area. It was our daughter-in-law's first visit to the UP, and she loved the cottage and the natural surroundings. A great place to celebrate a special occasion.

Communicating with Molly was easy and she was able to recommend a pasty restaurant to try.
We Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend the rock tour with Molly and Chet. We found a ton of yooperlites! The flashlights they provided were excellent and the rock hunting tips they gave us were pivotal to the success and enjoyment of our trip.

We had such a wonderful stay!! The house is larger than appears- a sprawling ranch with a unique and pleasing theme in each room. Extremely clean! This house offers the perfect blend of cozy, woodsy and ultramodern, which we loved. Beds were very comfortable and sheets were heavenly! Outstanding HVAC system and appliances. We definitely overpacked, because everything we could want or need was kindly provided. Best location in town; literally steps from Grand Marais Agate Beach, as well as the downtown area. Feel as though I’m forgetting something…too many positives to list! Molly is the kindest, most attentive host you’ll ever meet, and we’d like to thank her & Chet for their warm hospitality 😊
Can’t wait to return!

The property was clean, spacious and very well equipped. It was one of the most relaxing places we’ve stayed in. Molly’s property is the closest proximity to superior’s beautiful beach. It might take a whole 2 minutes to walk to the beach. The house is large and roomy; with a very nice side and front deck to enjoy. Molly is extremely helpful with the things to check out locally, she knows her stuff. Would highly recommend.

Great location right between Lake Superior and the bay, and a very short walk to restaurants and shops. Molly is a wonderful host, she’ll make you feel right at home in Grand Marais. She was able to answer all of our questions about the area and make some sightseeing and dining recommendations. A Stone’s Throw is cozy and comfortable with plenty of room for a large family or a few couples. Highly recommend!
