About this house rental
Summary:
CITQ 299418
This lovely chalet located steps from boutiques, cafes and the Gatineau River has plenty of room for the whole family to enjoy all this gorgeous area has to offer.
The Space:
The main floor is home to 1 queen bed and the living spaces. The second floor has 2 more queen beds, and 3 twins in one room, which the kids are sure to love! This space was lovingly decorated by a local designer and shop owner (La Tortue de Wakefield). Be sure to pop by her shop and say hi!
Our home comes equipped with propane BBQ, beach items (chairs, towels, cooler bag), children's dinnerware, and high chair.
Wakefield is a prime outdoor destination, with bungee jumping, canoe rentals, Eco-Odysee Adventures, and even organic farming tours. Artists especially love Wakefield, and is home to woodworkers, glassblowers, painters, ceramists and musicians, among many others. When in normal times, the Blacksheep started as a logger's tavern and roadhouse and has become the place to listen to live music, having hosted many famous Canadian musicians over the past 25 years.

Such a perfectly located house as we could visit charming Wakefield and Gatineau Park. And the Chelsea Nordik Spa! We love Le Hibou, the Wakefield bakery, the candy shop on the corner down the street and Jamboree for gifts. The Apex grocery store carries everything we needed. Ripe avocados, cilantro, fresh fruit, gourmet items, Asian and Mexican condiments, etc. etc. And all within walking distance. The house is large and we could all sit at the large dining room table and spread out a feast. Our second time renting.

We enjoyed the very comfortable beds, walks in Gatineau Park, cycling routes in the park, and the cozy cottage on rainy days. It was wonderful being right in the village and so close to the park at the same time. 4/5 stars for cleanliness only because of dirty upholstery on livingroom chairs, the cottage was very clean otherwise. We did not notice that there isn't a washer or dryer available to guests when we booked but upon checking we could see that washer/dryer was not included in the list of amenities. The laundry room is through an archway in the kitchen but is blocked off and only used by staff who access it through a locked door from the outside. There is a coin-operated laundromat in town which we used: Le Bas Perdu, 721 Chemin Riverside, Wakefield. The house is spacious and is on a quiet street. We slept well and enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and eating together at the large table. So many windows! A beautiful home.

We loved our stay in this beautiful home. The house was spotlessly clean and lived up to the pictures. It felt cheery, fresh, and open. The location is peaceful and quiet but is just one or two minute’s walk to the bakery, riverside trail, and swimming beach. The center of the village is five or ten minutes walk.
The hosts were very responsive and helpful.
We drove in to Ottawa each day to visit my mother-in-law but in between we enjoyed kayaking and canoeing on the river (there’s a rental place in Wakefield), swimming at the beach and off the town docks, walks in the beautiful area, ice cream, meals on the porch, and many breakfasts of fresh pastries from the bakery.
The kitchen was well-stocked and we cooked most of our meals at home. The house had plenty of extra essential supplies plus some thoughtful extras. Our kids especially enjoyed the supply of picture books.
The only downside was sleep. Most of the bedroom curtains don’t close completely. That’s not an issue for privacy (the house is well-screened by trees and has space to any neighbors) but it may be an issue if you sleep best in complete darkness. The adults also had a hard time getting used to the mattresses.
Overall we still give this property five stars and wholeheartedly recommend it. Wakefield is a lovely village and this part of Quebec is so beautiful.

The property was absolutely perfect for our 5 days of skiing with 5 girls at Edelweiss. From the room configuration (especially the room with 3 twin beds) to the well equipped kitchen with a large dining room table to the prime location in the heart of Wakefield but still so close to the ski hill. Girls also loved the decor, especially the lama wallpaper!

Lovely Spot for a Wakefield Getaway!
We stayed here to attend a wedding, 2 families with our young adult kids, and it was fantastic! Very clean, and every little detail taken care of...loved the bluetooth speakers in the living room, lots of room to sit around together, lovely comfy rooms and decor! I would definitely return.

Beautiful home in a nice little town
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house. It is walking distance to the center of Wakefield where we found terrific cafes and shops. We selected the location based on convenient access to Gatineau Park and also to Ottawa. We spent most of our time biking and hiking, but found the home to be comfortable and having everything that we needed for our stay. We would definitely stay here again!
