About this chalet rental
Sunshine Daydream offers spectacular waterfront views and lake access on three 3 wooded acres. Your chalet is a stand alone, 2 separate living areas and 2 bedrooms with one loft w/spiral staircase.
Expansive windows bring the lake view into your bedroom loft to view exquisite sunrises.
The living area has a 50-inch flat screen TV with wireless internet. You'll relax on two decks, one with a gas-supplied barbeque grill and the other with a seating area to relax.
The ground-level outdoor patio area is a third space with a fire table to enjoy the evening stars.
A separate, self-enclosed unit is available for your stay and is offered to you as a guest, if you may need more space for a second couple or older children traveling with you. This area is on the first floor and has one bedroom, a full bathroom with tub and shower, additional kitchen and living room. Please inquire if you’re interested in this option.
If not needed, no other guests will have access to this second unit during your entire stay!
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our place!
Please note: Lake Douglas is a Tennessee Valley Association controlled waterway so the lake level is controlled via a dam operated by the Army Corps of Engineers. Although somewhat unpredictable because of the varying amount of rainfall, usually the lake level is maintained fairly full from Spring into the latter part of the Summer. If your concern is being able to see the water, you can see it all year round. If you are planning to bring your boat and launch it from our property boat launch, make sure you check with us or local authorities to make sure you are comfortable with the existing water level. We have direct water access with a dock and a boat launch.
While this property is tucked away it is great for a few day trips to hike the Smoky Mountains or access to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Grocery stores are about 15 minutes from the cabin and it's a nice 30 minute ride to Pigeon Forge, and 45 minutes to Gatlinburg.

Very nice cottage with beautiful views and surrounded by mountains! Lots of fun things to do and explore within a short drive, such as Forbidden Caverans and Gatlinburg. We enjoyed the time connecting with family.

The hosts are very welcoming and responsive to any questions and concerns. The A frame suited our needs well & having the boat launch access was very convenient. The setting is quiet and lovely. We spent many hours on the lake and drove into Sevierville and Pigeon Forge a few times as well. Thank you!

We had an amazing stay. We rented the larger house on this property as well to give the entire family plenty of space. (Check out that review as well-(Rise and Shine)). Having this additional space was perfect for our crew! We loved the lake and the gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. It was a peaceful slice of paradise, only about 40 minutes from nearby Pigeon Forge. The host and hostess were attentive and helpful. They made sure we were having a blast the entire week! I would definitely consider this place to be the best of both worlds.

This was the perfect place for my boyfriend and I to enjoy our spring break! The communication with hosts was so clear and easy. We were a little confused when we walked into the main level because it wasn't what was pictured in the listing, but then we went to the upstairs (gorgeous!) The view over the lake and surrounding trees was beautiful and the space itself was pretty clean. The window across from the bed faces the east so there are unobstructed sunrise views every morning over the water. We were planning on going down to the lake, but when we got there dock repairs were going on so it was drained. Not by fault of the host at all, just something to keep in mind if you are looking to visit in the spring! Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay and we highly recommend!!

The chalet was wonderful. Beautiful inside and with a breathtaking view. Secluded but a reasonable and largely scenic drive to the attractions of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Great bbq nearby. And the owners are very considerate, providing lots of information on places to go, things to do etc. Very highly recommend, and we certainly can’t wait to stay again.

Great listing. Can't image it being even more amazing during the time of the year when the lake isn't down 26 feet in water!

So many good things to say about our experience. Dana and Chris were amazing! They made us feel welcome even before we made it to the chalet. They checked in with us a few times from the time we rented online until we left the chalet at the end of our stay. The chalet itself is very welcoming and comfortable. It has all the amenities you need. It felt like home. The view was nice but the sunrises were unlike anything we had ever seen, absolutely breathtaking! We absolutely plan to stay again!

We had a very enjoyable time at Sunshine Daydream. The hosts made sure we were comfortable and understood how everything worked. The things to do in the area were provided by the hosts and the list was lengthy. A return trip will be needed to go to some other things that interested us. The views from the deck of the lake and sunrises were spectacular. We needed a few days to unwind and relax and this chalet provided all of that.

This home was perfect! The view from the front deck was stunning, especially the sunrises. Dana was an excellent hostess and communication with her was never a problem. Thanks again, Dana for letting us use your kayaks, that will be a cherished memory for us! We loved this home and really didn't want to leave!

Great relaxing stay!
Wanted a nice quiet week on the lake and got exactly that! Great views of the lake and surrounding wilderness. Place was clean and very nice. Lots of towels, seating areas, and cookware for whatever we needed while we stayed. Would recommend this to any couple looking for a quiet stay away!
One thing that is not mentioned in the description, there is a large cabin right next to this property. We were hoping for a secluded stay, and ended up having another group stay there for part of the week. Not a huge deal, but we weren’t expecting the cabin to be so close when we arrived.

Exactly as pictured
The chalet is exactly as pictured. The new owner was extremely responsive and very easy to work with. They even allowed us to check in a couple hours early since there wasn't anyone in the property before us. Beautiful setting and great view. Very clean and had everything we needed for our stay.
This trip was all about fishing for us. A couple notes to that end. The ramp for the boat launch is a bit steep but we had no issues using 4WD. Also, take extension cords if you need to plug in your boat. If we're back in the area, would definitely stay again.

Property was clean and the view was outstanding. We were either on the lake or on the deck which overlooks the lake - we couldn't drag ourselves away! Dana and Chris were great to work with and checked in to make sure everything was as expected and to see if we needed anything - pleasure to work with!

As the last guests of Mike and Mary and the 1st guests (unofficially) of Chris and Dana, what can I say…?
A few weeks prior to our trip, the airline changed our flights, arriving much later than we hoped. I reached out to Mike and Mary, they were very responsive and put me at ease on accessing the cottage late night.
The day of our flight, we were again more than two hours delayed and would not arrive at the cottage until after midnight. Mike and Mary did message me to see if we got In, but we were still in Philadelphia, on the plane, on the runway. They offered to let us stay an extra day to make up for losing our 1st day.
Since we were checking out the area for retirement, we were on Zillow a lot. As a reference, on our 1st or 2nd day, we looked up the cottage to get ideas. The status was off the market (as we expected it would be). We continued our searches in the surrounding areas, and on Wednesday night decided to look up the cottage again, to our surprise, the status now said SOLD (the day before)! Wait, what? What happened, what’s going on? We dismissed it. Then shortly after, a car pulled into the house next door (the two dwellings are close and share the driveway), there was no one there our first handful of days, we didn’t even know who owned it or if it was also a rental. Thursday morning I got a text from Chris and Dana, the new owners…. wait, what? It did sell in the middle of our visit, and we never knew it was a deal in progress.
So, it wouldn’t do anyone any good to post about our experience with the old owners, but I will say that the new owners, Chris and Dana are very nice, and I do believe they are going to make future rental experiences the best possible, you won’t be disappointed.
I will add, the view cannot be beat!! Seriously, cannot be beat! You wake up, in bed, to the sunrise on the lake and the view of the mountains all around. This is a million-dollar dream view. The downside (the view more than makes up for it) there is nothing nearby within 20+ minute drive. Get gas and any groceries you may need before heading up the winding road to the top. When heading in or out, if using your GPS, set it before you get too far in or before leaving the driveway as we found cell phone service is lost for that ride in and out.
If you have considered this property for your next rental, secluded and a little off the grid, lots of wildlife all around, I say do it! We’re happy we did.
