About this house rental
All the beauty of Acadia in your own wooded corner of Maine’s Bold Coast, this property is truly medicine for the mind. Acres of forest carpeted by soft moss surround the home and a crystal clear brook meanders through on its way to a small waterfall on the cliff at the beach. The walkable beach is covered with small smooth pebbles exactly the same as Jasper Beach which makes an amazing pop-rock sound as the waves crash and retreat. Large bold pink granite veins are also part of the beach landscape and they stand defiant against the waves of the Atlantic.
The views of the islands and open ocean from all 3 levels of the home are truly breathtaking. Enough beds to sleep 6 guests comfortably, this classic Maine home features a spiral staircase, wall to wall windows on the first floor living space providing panoramic views of the water, and newly refinished original hardwood floors from when the cottage was built in 1905. There is a one of a kind bench available for guest use that provides a prime spot to chill by the sea and recharge. Guests can explore the trail through the woods that leads to an observation deck with two rocking chairs. The serene spot is next to a small water fall and overlooks the bold rocky coastline.
The property provides easy access to the beach via a gently sloping trail. The ocean in front of the property is surprisingly calm many days, especially mornings, and you can often see kayakers and paddle boarders making their way to Jasper Beach, which is just up the coast a bit from the cottage. The cliffs, canyons and caves between the cottage and Jasper Beach are truly phenomenal when viewed from the water or explored on foot. Guests must supply their own water sports equipment, which can be rented from outfitters in nearby Machias.
There is a king bed in the spacious upstairs bedroom, a queen bed in the second upstairs bedroom, a twin bed and two built-in bunk beds in the first floor bedroom, a full size bed in the newly finished bedroom in the walkout basement, and an available fold out cottage bed. The top bunk in the bunk room is more comfortable for children ages 5 through 10 and the bunks have a weight limit of 180 pounds.
The home is heated by a combination of propane, electric baseboard and a newly installed mini-split heat pump with air conditioning as well. The best air conditioning however is most always the windows and there are window fans available for guest use in all rooms except the bathroom.
There is a antique desk in the upstairs bedroom with a monitor that can serve as an office space if necessary. There is also a desk and office chair in the basement bedroom and a fold down desk in the second upstairs bedroom each offering work spaces as well. The kitchen has a dishwasher, refrigerator, gas oven and four burner cook top, microwave, a combination Keurig and drip coffee maker, blender, salad spinner, lobster pot, lobster and oyster shucking tools, and a toaster.
A few modern amenities include high speed internet from SpaceX Starlink and a 55 inch flat screen television with Disney+ and Hulu streaming services included. There is also a universal EV charger with a J1772 adapter (and native Tesla adapter) available for guest use.
We welcome your family pet to join you on your Maine vacation. Please note there is a pet fee of $175 with a maximum of 2 pets allowed. Pets should remain on the 1st level (main floor) only.

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The house and property are everything as described and more. We enjoyed the easy access to put in kayaks and explore the surrounding area. We spent many hours just sitting on the property taking in the views of the ocean and the lobster boats out for their daily catch. Also provided a nice central location to explore and hike the surrounding areas of Roque Bluffs state park and Machias. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Seaclusion with our 3 children aged from 6 to 11 and our dog. The property is on a peaceful, secluded private drive and right on a rocky beach. Our kids loved exploring the rocks and tide pools and we had a few very nice kayak outings on the cove on which the property is located. The house is very clean and nicely decorated with great views of the ocean. The bedrooms were perfect for our family and the younger kids enjoyed the bunk room. The kitchen was well equipped and nicely laid out for cooking. We really enjoyed relaxing at the house and exploring nearby. It’s a great location and property to spend a lot of time at the house without needing to go far to feel like you’re making the most of your stay.

The shoreline here is really beautiful, with rugged rocks and boulders and sea cliffs. The views from the cottage are lovely. The kitchen is well stocked. A very nice coffee pot! Views from the main bedroom are great. Cottage is rounded by beautiful evergreens and there is a set of rocking chairs where you can enjoy the view. A walk down the shore brings you to caves in one direction and a rocky beach in the other direction. Machias is a great town with a terrific brewpub and Helen’s for pie!

Perfect spot for our 4 night getaway, love how quiet the Machiasport area is. House is cozy and unique (in a good way🙂). We had an issue during our stay that Brian couldn't have handled any better, he really went above and beyond! This is a great property steps away from the rocky coast of Maine, a true oasis to get away for a while.

Lovely home in a beautiful ocean-front location.

The property was even more amazing than it looks in the photos. The driveway in weaves through a mossy forest and opens up to a beautiful ocean view. Once inside, the home is exactly as pictured in the photos, beautifully updated and fitted with all the spices and cooking essentialls necessary for your stay. The view is ever changing as the tides are significant here, the shore going from a quintessential Maine rocky coastline to an expansive rocky beach walkable to an impressive cave. Brian and Melanie were super helfpul in making suggestions in advance and checking in during our stay. Would absolutely recommend staying here, excellent all around.

Charming cottage, beautiful setting. Well equipped and stocked with necessities. Nicely decorated with comfortable furnishings and beds. We loved exploring the beach bordering the property. This property is secluded, which we enjoyed. Had some concerns beforehand about 1 bathroom (for 6 adults) and the spiral staircase (with small dog, we used a baby gate to keep her on the first floor). Both ended up being fine. Totally worth it for the location and view. Only drawback, which can’t be helped, is the mosquitos, so be prepared in the warmer months with proper clothing and repellent. Day trips to Jasper Beach, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, Long Point Preserve, Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada were all fantastic.

From the moment we pulled up and saw the house and the view we knew we were going to have a fantastic time. The house was beautiful from the statement staircase to the lovely kitchen. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We felt right at home.
We were looking for quality family time in a peaceful setting and thats exactly what we got. Brian was communicative and helpful. The details were all there, just as described in the listing. We look forward going back.

Our stay here was enjoyable in every aspect. The house was very clean, the communication with the host was clear and pleasant, and the location was beautiful. Our family of five (parents with three children ages 12-17) was very comfortable during our stay, and we enjoyed every single minute there! We are a family who enjoys simple things such as spending time oceanside, hiking on nearby trails, and sometimes just reading - all of which we did while staying here. We are thankful that Brian and Melanie have opted to share their most beautiful house through VRBO with others who appreciate this special place. We would certainly look forward to staying there again!

My husband and I spent about a week at Seaclusion and had the most amazing time. Brian & Melanie were lovely hosts, very welcoming and responsive. They even left us little gifts including supplies to make blueberry pancakes! The pictures don’t do this place justice. When we woke up and saw the view from the house, we were blown away. And if you walk a little up the coast (at low tide), there are caves/cliffs to explore. The house itself is so cute, beautifully decorated and we felt at home as soon as we walked in from our 12 hour drive.
We cannot recommend Seaclusion enough and can’t wait to go back!

Rarely does a property exceed expectations like Seaclusion did. The location is absolute perfect. The home was decorated expertly. Seaclusion is a true gem. When word gets out about what a perfect rental is I’m sure it will be completely booked for months in advance. Thank you to the homeowners for a perfect vacation rental.

Beautifully decorated, well equipped and easy access to find everything. The location is perfect for people who want to relax to the sound of waves and explore the surrounding nature.
We wished we could’ve used the washer/dryer as we have two young kids that get things dirty quickly. Guests who don’t sleep well in microfibre sheets should bring their own.
The communication was great and their offer to pick blueberries was really appreciated. We made great memories there…
