We are not a hotel but true to the vacation rental experience, which is we want to share our location with you. We strive to keep our cleaning fees low, and we are generally 1/2 our competition on cleaning fees, but we expect you'll help us keep up with everything as you go as well. Some folks are looking for hotel standard everything or an VRBO just like they stayed at in some big city. Thats not us ... we are catering to those of you who want seclusion, your own piece of heaven and of course the BEST views in Blowing Rock. We are 16 secluded acres in the woods ... our reviews feature guests who enjoy that experience and the occasional guest who doesn't get it and worries they may run into bugs & spiders outside, gets worried about a drive on a gravel mountain road, or didn't get it when we said we are "off the beat path". We are off the beaten path just outside town on secondary mountain roads that cars of ALL type visit us Spring, Summer and Fall, come in enjoy the experience, know what we are about on the way in .... and thats why you booked us. We do not provide any food of any type, we do provide coffee and fixings for it. Thanks for looking at our cabin!
We are providing you a License to use our Cabin similar to that of renting a car, as a licensee you are bound to the cabin rules at all times, and you forgo the rights of a "lease" or "tenant". Violations of our cabin rules can result in your immediate removal from our cabin, by renting our cabin you agree to these terms. If you'd like a full copy of the license please let us know in advance and one will be provided to you.
THE CABIN IS IN THE MOUNTAINS: On a secondary mountain road. The approach to the cabin means that you are comfortable driving a road in the woods, including driving up and down small gravel roads. We have had over 3000 successful stays to our cabins on your Cabin's road with zero incidents, but its not like driving a suburban city street in Raleigh or Charlotte. Take your time, drive slowly, you should be fine. We do not permit motorcycles at this cabin due the grade of the road based on past experiences. Please ask about our other cabins if traveling by motorcycle..
WIFI - Its Satellite based. That means it has a delay and is not ideal for 2 way communication such ZOOM. Second it means that during a storm the weather can cloud out the connection and your WiFi may degrade. Most guests have found it great, streaming is possible if the weather is good, and we’ve had guests work and play in our cabin with out issue, but we do point this out as there are no buried cables or fiber on our remote properties.
Pets : We understand you may want to bring a pet. We do permit small pets under 50lbs, non-shedding breeds. We may approve 2 pets if the total weight is at or below 50lbs of both pets added together and non-shedding. If you are close on the above conditions, talk to us, we do consider how many humans, and pets are together and will make case by case an exception at our sole discretion. All pets require a discussion at the time of booking and agreement to our pet policy.
Fireplace - Cabin is equipped with a gas fireplace, with an automatic timer panel to control the fireplace. We’re here for support on fireplace use as needed.

I needed to get away from the hassle of everyday life and this house was perfect. The location was excellent. Just five minutes from Blowing Rock. I traveled into town several times as there is much to do there. It was also close to lots of hiking trails which I did as well. It was very clean and exactly as described. The view was phenomenal. The road getting to the house was steep but no problem during the summer. Might be a little tricky if there is some snow and ice on the ground. Also, it rained everyday and that caused the TV and internet to go down. Make sure to bring a couple good books. Overall, I was very satisfied and highly recommend.

We always come to the Blowing Rock area for our anniversary and this was our 36 year. Really loved the house but the gravel road portion was challenging especially if you meet other vehicles. The view was spectaculiar and very roomy for two people. Thanks for a great host.

Amazing place for a getaway. Beautiful views of the mountains. We'll be back

Not easy to find, get to. Beautiful place and view; hot tub was wonderful, beds very comfortable, the weather was lovely. The kitchen was clean, well equipped, and cozy. We enjoyed our time together in the cottage. The property could benefit from handrail on lower steps from driveway to upper deck and front door, garlic powder in spice rack, fire extinguisher in a more prominent location in case of fire emergencies.

Your property was so wonderful and such a great get away!

We had an amazing time at the Secret Shack. We ŵere able to make it in before a snow storm, and enjoyed being “stuck” in the house. The road up the mountain was amazing, but not for the faint of heart. We had great communication with the property owners and they were very helpful, keeping us up to date with the driving conditions on the mountain and surrounding roads. There were only a few things we didn’t love. The drive way for the house next door runs about 10 feet from the kitchen window and there are very few curtains, we felt as though someone could be watching us, but I’m sure no one was. I also wished the hot tub was closer to the door of the cabin. It wasn’t fun walking up the stairs dripping wet when it was in the single digits, but I persevered. It was amazing, beautiful, and worth every penny. And Incase anyone was wondering, it takes a wet beard about 30 seconds to form ice when you’re in a hot tub and it’s 14 degrees out side. I would stay here again without question.

The Secret Shack was the perfect spot to disconnect for our anniversary trip. We spent the day hiking at Linville Falls so coming back to the beautiful mountain view and coziness of the fireplace was just what we needed. Waking up to the sunrise view of the mountains from the master bedroom bed is amazing!
It was clean, plenty of towels, comfortable bedding and the instructions for everything were very easy to follow. We will be back!

We had a wonderful time in this charming cabin. It was very well appointed and had everything we needed. It is right off 321 just south of Blowing Rock.
The view was spectacular - we faced west and could see several peaks, including Grandfather Mountain. Same view from the Living Room, Master Bedroom and Hot Tub. The drive from the main road up to the cabin includes gravel roads so I was glad we brought the SUV. Will gladly stay there again.

The cabin was lovely, especially the bay window in the master bedroom which looks out over the blue ridge mountains. Even in summer when the trees are full of foliage, the view is fantastic. We had everything we needed for our stay. The only cons were that the internet really des not work at all (don't expect to be able to check the web or stream movies at all) and the drive from the main highway is a little intimidating on first arrival.

The views from this property are outstanding, both from the deck, and in the house. Its a little difficult to get to, its a very winding road, but its paved/gravel so you can do it in a car. but thats what you have to do to get this kind of view. Follow the directions the host gives you closely and you'll be fine. House was nice and clean, there are a dozen stairs to get in the front door. The hot tub is downstairs under the deck, so you have to go outside and down the stairs to get to it.

The 4 of us girls (2 paramedics, an RN, and an accountant) escaped for a weekend getaway at The Secret Shack. We laughed so much and really got to unwind. The place was spotless, fantastic views, the directions to the place were spot on, and the property owners were wonderful! We plan to stay again at The Secret Shack soon!

Cabin had fantastic views. It was so peaceful and pleasant to sit on the deck for morning coffee and evening sundowns. The bedroom with expansive window facing the mountains was an added bonus! We really enjoyed our getaway!

Cabin was lovely, view outstanding. Owner had a lot of very specific rules.

Cabin was great clean and cozy. The view of Grandfather Mountain is wonderful from the deck and master bedroom. Only complaint my family had and it's nothing the owners can do about is the very narrow rd to the cabin limited locations to allow another car to pass by. They did mention in the writeup that it is remote compared to other cabins though.
