Feel free to BRING BOAT or JET SKIS (Check w/ owner for details)! Located 10-15 minutes from the historic downtown New Braunfels and Schlitterbahn water park, this beautiful 3,300 square foot single story home comfortably hosts up to 14 guests (ALL BEDS-No Couches/Futons/Etc) with 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms (plus an outdoor shower!) and sits right on the Lake Dunlap section of the spring fed Guadalupe River.
Some quick highlights include: Nearly 140 FEET of quality waterfront!! ** Single Story wTwo Primary Suites on opposites ends** Private Gated Entry to the home ** Over 1500 additional square feet of covered outdoor patio spaces ** Docks ** Gazebo ** Over half an acre of amazing tree covered lawn…including a set of incredible 70+ foot Cypress Trees along the bulk head providing beauty and shade to the back yard.
The home puts you near all the action, conveniently located within a short drive of hotspots like Schlitterbahn, the Comal River tube chute, downtown New Braunfels, Wurstfest, Whitewater Amphitheater, Gruene Hall and much more! But, many guests rarely leave the home once they arrive at the large private compound of Opas Haus.
While we cap our capacity at 14 people (ALL in quality beds - NO sleeping on futons, couches, air mattresses, pullouts, etc), the home provides ample space for all to enjoy both inside and out. With two primary (one on each side of the home), 2 secondary rooms, 3 Full baths, two living spaces, two dining spaces and a huge, family style open kitchen looking over the water… everyone will have a comfortable place to enjoy, and then crash after a long day of fun!
If you are more the adventurous type, hop on one of the provided kayaks (2 adult, 1 Double, 2 kids), Canoe or SUP boards(2) or use the floating island to enter and splash around in the water. Or bring your own vessel or floats and adventure the lake for fun, for exercise or to fish! You can even bring a BOAT or JETSKI! Or just use the kayaks, tubes, floating island (provided) or other floats to just hang out in the water! We have easy access points (Stairs) for you to get to the water. Or just jump in or walk into the water from the stairs!
The home is perfect for bringing family and friends together. With 10+ foot ceilings throughout, there is nothing cramped about this home. There are two dining areas in the large open plan, each with sturdy tables that can seat up to 8 people (both also great for board games, cards or just drinks and conversations). There are also extra bar stools for the breakfast bar or island in the heart of the large kitchen. The two living areas are open to each other but provide their own unique feel and uses. The kitchen opens to the main living area which is located between the large dining spaces. It has couch seating, a large flat screen TV over the fireplace and overlooks the entire backyard and waterfront. Just over is the 2nd living area with more seating and a foosball table. Nothing in this house is cramped and there is plenty of walking around space!
But, you probably won’t choose Opas Haus just for the indoor space! So it also comes with over 1500 square feet of covered outdoor spaces as well!! Right out the window covered back of the home is a large patio that hosts another large dining table, PING PONG table, outdoor lounge seating, gas BBQ Grill, and additional sitting spaces…All overlooking the 140 feet of waterfront bulkhead/dock and Lake Dunlop!
Want more? Step off the open patio into the lawn where you’ll find a Gazebo-Bar located under the iconic 70’ Cypress Trees! There is also a fire pit, boat dock (for sitting only - water currently too low for boats) and storage shed that provides more fun (yard games, life vests,, floating island, etc).
For those who want to take in the area, there are numerous fabulous restaurants, shops and grocery options within 2-8 miles of the home..including Schlitterbahn Water Park, Comal River Water Chute and the Historic Downtown New Braunfels. I booked this stay for a weekend family vacation for 10 of us. The house was very spacious, had plenty of supplies needed for cooking, and lots of activities for the outdoor area. We spent most of our time enjoying the lake, roasting s'more's by the fire pit, and grilling on the patio. The cons of the stay would be the cleanliness of the home and outdoor area. There were cobwebs in the house, all over the patio furniture and door ways. The backyard area has huge potential if it was upkept better- a tree covered in cobwebs, poison ivy by the shed, and yellowjacket nests on the covered boat dock. This stay has great potential and hope this feedback helps.

Great house for a great girls weekend. We had 8 adults- everyone had a comfy bed, plenty of space to spread out. Great kitchen area for everyone to be working in with a huge island. We enjoyed the large covered patio with plenty of seating. The proximity to the water is perfect- just a very short walk to get in and float. Short drive into NB was a bonus too. Chad and Gaby responded quickly to any questions we had. I definitely would recommend Opas Haus and we would love to come back!

Great location for water activities yet close to many must sees in New Braunfels without the hustle and bustle of people. Very peaceful place at sunrise and sunset. Our family and friends are already planning another trip.

We enjoyed ourselves quite a lot. The space was good with enough amenities to cook meals there for our group. The patio was amazing, right on the water. Most of everything was comfortable, but there were a few things that probably need to be updated. The Queen bed in the secondary bedroom with ensuite bathroom has a pretty big dip in the center, making it uncomfortable to sleep in. Another of the bedrooms has a bed missing a headboard, which causes the bed to slide around a bit at night. Other than those issues, the place was great! Excellent communication with owners.

We’re from Missouri very impressed beyond expectations clean many extra comforts toys big and little kids lovel large home. 12 of us never felt on top of each other and gorgeous kitchen! Ping pong corn hole footsball and of course river front large lot

House was nice and big. Master bedroom was on the other side of the house from other bedrooms, which we liked. Big ole kitchen with room for several people to prepare meals. Not far from grocery stores (Walmart) and restaurants. Outside was nice. We sat around and visited at night… somehow they had no mosquitos!! Will happily recommend to all my friends and family! Communication with owners was awesome.

This amazing house will up the fun level of your escape! There are tons of comfortable places to gather. We considered doing a triathalon with corn hole, ping pong and kayak races. But we are age enriched so we just sat around and ate and gabbed. The beds are very comfortable. The air conditioning works great even when it’s 103 outside. Lots of kitchen supplies. (Bring tin foil and ziplocks - we had a lot of left overs.)

We enjoyed our stay with friends and their families. Plenty of room for a party of 14, and lots of memories made! We spent a lot of time in the water-paddle boarding, kayaking, and swimming- the floating lilly pad was a hit for the kids! My only complaint was the listing when booking showed a hot tub at the house, and it has apparently since been removed. Other than that, i'd give our stay 5 stars :) we would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful home - amazing kitchen! Slater
Family river trip was definitely a success! My husband and I and our 4 grown children, their spouses, and grandchildren stayed - 14 total. We had a amazing time playing in the water on the floating island and fishing. Great times. Loads of space for all. Game nights and hanging under the patio and playing corn hole! Can’t wait to come back. Will most definitely recommend and will book again for our next River floating trip.

Nice place close to midtown New Braunfels, where we attended Wurstfest. Very spacious with plenty of room for our family of 9. The carpet was outdated and loose. Needs to be exterminated. Nice areas for gathering and eating. Overall we had a great time and had plenty of room.

Owners were very informative and responsive. The house exceeded all expectations from its layout, decor and cleanliness. 6 adults and there was room for all to do their own thing. Amenities were awesome, from the hot tub, water toys, cornhole boards, BBQ grills. Kitchen was perfect and had everything you need to prepare and quick to elaborate meal. Will definitely would stay again in the future.

I can't say enough good things about this house and the owners. It was perfect for our family reunion. It is one story so it accommodated the older members of our family who use walkers. It was easy for them go get outside and really feel like they were part of the group.
The house comes with a lot of outdoor activities provided by the owners. They go over and beyond what is expected to make sure there is something for everyone. They were fast to reply to all my many questions and were so accommodating. If i could give them 10 stars i would.
This was a great experience and a very successful family gathering because of the awesome house and the property owners. THANKS

We had eleven adults and there was plenty of room in the house. Lake was low but we where able to Kayak, and float in the lake. We all had a great time.

Relaxing Stay at the River
The house was gorgeous and super clean when we arrived. Loved the kitchen and enjoyed cooking lots of meals there. Grandparents loved relaxing in the backyard while grandkids played on the river. Would love to come back once the damn is fixed.
