Chesterton is a train town. We have several tracks running through our town which attracts many train enthusiasts from out of town. We are so train friendly that we have a train depots, bed and breakfasts, bathrooms, restaurants, etc. Although the town council is currently working on “Quiet Zones”, the Federal law requires trains to blow their whistles when approaching intersections one of which goes through our downtown are (which is typical in most small towns).. The walls are plaster which help insulate the sound. We have ear plugs and air purifiers for the light sleepers. Native Chestertonians do not hear the whistles, but, some light sleepers, may. The house is located within steps of downtown and occasionally, at night, a train comes through but mostly through out the day time. Our hope is that you will come to love our trains as much as we do in Chesterton.
We can't wait to have you as our guest!

We had a wonderful time staying in this house. Everything is clean and organized. Beds were comfy, and the host even had bed rails we could use for my two year old! We loved being so close to downtown Chesterton and close to the beaches. The Port Drive in right across the street made my kids and husband very happy, too! 10/10 would recommend!

The house was very clean and well stocked. Close proximity to lots of attractions, we didn’t drive more than 30-40 minutes to get anywhere. Enjoyed the European market on Saturday morning. My kids loved the restaurant across the road and my husband appreciated the shower head placement, he’s 6’6” lol

Property is an absolute GEM! This is one of the best properties we have ever rented- it was perfectly appointed with everything you could want including so many extras. The beds were so comfortable (the futon too!), the patio/firepit was wonderful, an entry pass to the IN State Park was included, ample beach supplies, bottled water & filtered water in the fridge and so much more. Lori was a wonderful host and communication was speedy and helpful. This rental gets an A and we look forward to a future visit!

We loved everything about our stay in Chesterton. The property was super clean and equipped with everything you would need. The hosts truly thought of everything. We had 6 people in our group and never once felt crowded. Games for kids, super fluffy towels and a great outdoor space were a few things we loved. Definitely would recommend staying here.

Lori is the most thoughtful host we have ever had in over a decade of traveling and staying at various properties around the world. Her home in Chesterton had everything you would expect from a private rental property and then some! Her attention to detail is impressive right up to the individually prepared arrival package she dropped off for our stay. She was able to accommodate a slightly early arrival (miscalculation of driving time due to time zone change) while still ensuring everything was ready for us.
The town of Chesterton is a great example of small town America. The shops are a short walk from the property and worth setting aside time to explore. I could have spent an entire day in the antique bookstore alone! And breakfast at Peggy Sue’s diner is a must - Peggy Sue will get you day started on a bright note if the coffee isn’t enough. And of course, our daughter and her friend couldn’t resist visiting the Port for ice cream and root beer! We also spent a day at the beach, drove into Valparaiso for some shopping (20 mins away) an afternoon at Shedd aquarium (longer and pricier drive) and an evening at the drive-in. Needless to say, our time passed quickly and our vacation ended much too soon. If you are looking to stay in this area, you should plan your visit around Lori’s property’s availability because I don’t think you could find a better place to stay or host!

Great location near Indiana Dunes and the lake. They have a park pass to use, so visit as often as you like for hiking and beach days. It is a close by drive to Chicago to get some of the best food in the states or see a show. The house was updated with stainless steal appliances and staged comfortably. The outside patio area is great for good weather days with a fire pit for marshmallows in the evenings. The cute little town has some good food at the port drive-in locationed directly across from the property and a nice bakery down the street with yummy fresh baked bread and croissants. The host is thoughtful and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

We really enjoyed our stay. Was very impressed with how clean and comfortable feeling the house was. The owners even went above and beyond to give us ideas on places to go and see. Our daughter really loved playing in the house and was very thankful for the little gift she received upon arrival from the owners.

My teenage daughters and I came to Chesterton, for a long weekend, to visit family and this little gem was the perfect place for us to stay. The house is quaint and clean. The kitchen had all the essentials. Beds are comfy and the shower was hot and strong! Our favorite was the patio out back. We had family over in the mornings for coffee and in the evenings for a fire. The owner is fantastic at communicating. Couldn't have been better. Would definitely stay again!

Our family had a memorable vacation at this property! Very clean and felt like at home with sooo many amenities to offer! Definitely exceeded my expectations 😁 Lots to do around this area and there was a binder with very useful info about activities to do nearby, even had a DNR pass to use for entry to the National Parks. Highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed. Lori was great and very communicative.
Only thing is if you are a light sleeper take ear plugs because you will hear a train at night.

4 day/3 nights with the fam. Just wanted to be close to the beach. This is nice little cozy place right in town. We were able to walk to the weekend markets, and various restaurants in downtown Charlston. State Park/Beach was a short 10-15 ride. Maybe 20-25 mins to the National Park beaches to the east.
Property had some nice little touches to make us feel welcome, as well as everything we needed for the weekend, including some beach toys and such. Would stay again. ✌️

Vacation at Indiana Dunes
The property was clean, cute, fully furnished. We tend to cook a lot of meals while vacationing and we found all the cooking equipment (pots, pans, utensils) as well as appliances available to meet our needs.
The location was perfect for both access to both the State and National Dunes Parks, close to Downtown Chesterton. We were able to walk to the many vegan friendly restaurants in Chesterton. In addition the grocery stores provided a variety of items.
The property allowed pets, it was nice to bring our two little dogs.
The patio area was clean and with the outdoor furniture and fire pit we were able to relax in the early evenings and enjoy s'mores.
We would defiantly rent this property again. The property manager was very responsive to our questions.
Note: maybe this is just a function of my age; but we had a difficult time figuring out the TV remotes! 😄
We recommend this property to anyone!

Clean, comfortable and accurate!
This was perfect for me and my girlfriend. The location was perfect for a quick stroll downtown Chesterton but also to see the dunes with a short drive. The quarters were well equipped with everything one could possibly need and highly organized. This is a great location was well for the Chicago crowd that wants to see the Indiana dunes and some of the Michigan beaches but cannot get away for long trips. I highly recommend and would stay again
