We wanted an ocean view room so we could sit and look at the ocean . You could not sit anywhere in the room and see the ocean . You could see the ocean if you stood in the corner by the desk and looked at a 60 degree angle . I expect such shenanigans from a motel 6 but expected more from a Hilton . To make sure I had every chance not to sit and look at the ocean housekeeping knocked on the door at 8 am on a Saturday! If I wanted to be woken up on my one day to sleep in I could have stayed home with the kids instead of a weekend away with my wife . Wouldn’t recommend the property, nothing special about it and the elevators are as slow as can be .

Beautiful hotel. Wonderful staff. Great location. 5 minute walk to beach, restaurants, and shops. 20 minute drive to Ocean Shores area in San Diego. Parking is onsite and through secure gate. I believe it was $50 a night.
We stayed in a King suite on 10th floor. The view was amazing. The only issue we had was on our last day both elevators were broken. We had to make several trips down 10 flights of stairs with all of our luggage.
2.0
Maid service just remade beds never changed the sheets, elevators were broken, overcharged for parking just hot mess for price of hotel
3.0
Our stay at this hotel was rather disappointing. The rooms were kind of updated but only barely with new furniture. The walls, bathroom, doors and all details were still the old 70s. There was only elevator (super old) working so going up and down took forever every time.
PROS
New furniture inside the rooms.
Balcony, however, we couldn't use it because it was very foggy and we couldn't see the ocean.
CONS
Where to begin!
Check in fairly quick, but the person helping us did not smile once, he was wearing a wrinkled T-shirt in a strange color that did not match the Hilton jacket on top.
Room - the room we were given had water damage in the bathroom shower so we had to ask for another room.
WIFI- it is extra ! It is 2024 and I am shocked there is a hotel that still charges for wifi.
PARKING - plenty of spots available and convenient BUT they charge $42 for self -park, it's not even valet!
BREAKFAST - not included and it was expensive. We at breakfast there because we were in a hurry and the service was lacking big time. The 'host' showed us to a table but did not bring us the menus. I had to get up and get the menus myself. The staff gave out vibes of working at Denny's
'RESORT FEE' - there is a separate $35 charge which is strange because this is not a resort, but rather a simple hotel, not even on the beach.
Overall, we were disappointed by the stay and the level of service we received by HILTON. We had never stayed at a Hilton property and now I know why.

The Hotel Experience was excellent, from each member of the front desk to Laila, the restaurant representative who delivered our food.
The customer service was 5 star from checking into the room to checking out.
Will definitely stay again.
Thank You.

Our room was lovely and the staff was friendly. We had breakfast at the restaurant- it was okay but wouldn’t go there for dinner

The hotel is definitely run down and old. The pool is tiny and the pool area is dirty and not maintained. The restaurant’s food was just okay. The bar was convenient. The rooms need attention. Oh and only one elevator working.

Nice hotel with beautiful sunset views but very dated rooms and elevators.

Had a lovely time at this hotel. Will definitely stay here again. The restaurant and bar on the top floor was great as well. Convenient location which was walking distance to everything we needed. Room was nice and clean and we had a great view

Very outdated hotel. La Jolla is known to be a ritzy city in San Diego and we assumed since it was a Hilton hotel, it would live up to the expectations. WRONG. This is a glorified motel with the room doors facing outdoors. Rooms are super outdated with old thermostats, and the rooms smell like mildew when you walk in. We immediately left.

The staff aren’t really friendly and the housekeeping wasn’t good

We love this boutique hotel! The staff are very nice and helpful. From the front desk, maid service and dining at top, they are wonderful people! The parking is secure with a fee of $45.

The customer service was horrible, and they were very unwelcoming It was not free breakfast like it stated on the website . We stayed for one night because they were so rude . We stayed at a family members home for the rest of the trip .

I've seen this hotel rated 4-star but if i'm being honest it's closer to 3-stars. The facilities really need an upgrade/makeover as the wear and tear are really starting to show. Examples include the elevators and parts of the room, including the bathrooms (our toilets clogged twice). The 11th floor restaurant is okay although way overpriced. Ending on a positive, I found the front desk staff to be super helpful and kind. I would consider staying here again but only if other local options were too expensive.

Front desk staff was not actively at front desk all 3 days that I came in the evening. Room was very roughly turned over. Lights not flush to ceiling, paint and caulk everywhere, crooked lights on wall, trim hanging down. Pool bar is very lack luster when it's even staffed. These are all small problems and only annoying based on price to stay here. You'd expect more from a Hilton Hotel in this area.

Rooms were good size and nicely updated. Loved the balcony with ocean views. Great location. Only con elevators are slow.

Pretty close to the beach. Nice view from the top floor. Expensive parking. The employee who checked us in was great. The one who checked us out was no so much… The price doesn’t really constitute what you get.

We had a great time at Hotel La Jolla. The room was nice with a beautiful view, 5 minute walk to restaurants and shops, friendly staff and 11th floor bar makes fabulous cocktails. Can’t wait to stay again!

It was amazing. The hotel was very high class, the restaurant had great food, and the workers were very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be coming back, it was a beautiful experience. Close to everything!

Very close to restaurants

I did not like paying for parking; never experienced that at a hotel, and the amount is insulting and overly abusive for no prescribed parking space

I had one day get away with my elder parents to get some nice ocean breeze but we could not opened the window or use the balcony. Either next-door or below units were smoking so much that I felt like we were in the Vegas hotel. The bed was supposed to be hypoallergenic but pillow and blanket made me itch. Staffs were friendly and location was good. Beach was little far for elder parents to walk to but was ok for my self. Overall Hotel facility was little dated but was a cute hotel.

This hotel is well appointed with a beautiful restaurant on the top floor. It is well located, several blocks to the beach and a collection of restaurants, stores, and coffee shops. It's also only 10 minutes from downtown La Jolla. Tasteful decor, friendly and helpful staff.

I booked a suite and was told there was a mistake and we had a regular room. Had kids so could not stay and need a refund.

My room was only cleaned once. The cleaning lady offered to clean multiple times but never actually showed up. Quite disappointing but the hotel was nice nonetheless.

This property is gorgeous and a 5-7 minute walk to the beach. My cautions as a parent travelling with children is the hidden fees charged such as occupancy tax, city tax and tourism tax that you pay in USD dollars after the fact, then the parking fee which is beyond excessive and completely unreasonable. Adding almost $300 extra Canadian after the conversion for a 2 night stay :( Otherwise its a wonderful hotel

Loved our stay walking distance from little shops and restaurants
6.0
Beautiful hotel, however the bedsheets and shower towels smelled like mildew, the kinda smell that occurs when you leave the load wet in the washer for too long. Other than that it was clean, easy parking and close to the beach
4.0
The Good: Front desk was exceptional. Very professional & courteous reps, especially Kamron (sp?). Mexican restaurant & Coffee place were good. Great service. Grounds were beautiful. Pool & Fitness areas were nice.
The Bad: Although room was nice and clean, the ambience was a bit cold. Could have used some warmer touches. Also, Veranda room was simply a dark room with a simple metal chair and small table outside on the pathway with no enclosure. Not what I consider a "veranda". I could have brought my own beach chair & be more comfortable. Although didn't have a chance to use, spa treatment prices were outrageous.
The Ugly: There was a private very loud DJ hosted "Debut" party which was in the common courtyard right outside my room. I had to leave my room for my own sanity. It lasted until 10:00 PM. If they schedule parties in public areas, it shouldn't be right where all the guests stay & it shouldn't last until 10:00 PM.

Clean. Walk to the beach/dining within 5-7 minutes

I really like that the back was mountains and the front is the ocean. It was a very worthwhile vacation. The hotel room being clean is just a plus

Beautiful garden setting; ocean and garden/trees view from balcony is spectacular.
Food (room service) was delicious
Very nice place, we will be going again soon

It’s a very short walking distance to the beach. They charge you $25 resort fee per day that you could use for their restaurant. The view in the restaurant is beautiful, but food is just ok. The rooms are nice but some amenities are old, our restroom door didn’t lock or closed properly.

Hotel La Jolla was overall a clean, comfortable and convenient stay in San Diego. We were a little unsure at first because we found a few hairs in the bathroom and in the closet, upon our arrival. However, the front desk was quick to respond and sent the maintenance person to clean the areas of concern. Parking was relatively easy, though expensive and not complementary.
The main concern is that the hotel needs a refresh. Overall, the hotel shows its wear and is very dated. For example, a small detail like the mirrors by the elevator are not reflective anymore. They are scratched and damaged. That might seem purely cosmetic but as a traveler, those details have always proven to be symptoms of greater things that need to be addressed. Another example is the handle on our shower came off. We were able to put it back and use the shower but details like that show the need for regular maintenance.

The rooms were nice and clean. The amenities were not particularly impressive; there was no Jacuzzi available, which was a disappointment. Additionally, the on-site restaurant was very expensive, and the outside bar was not open during my stay.
However, what I truly loved about this place was its excellent proximity to the beach and all the shops and dining options. Everything you need is within walking distance, and the beach is easily accessible by foot within a ten minute walk. This convenience made exploring the area very enjoyable and hassle-free.
