Birthday getaway. Very enjoyable in this historic setting.

Love the place. Just needs a hot tub!!

Super cool hotel.

The hotel is conveniently located near The Alamo, River Walk, and shopping. The courtyard and pool were well maintained. A towering Christmas tree was a nice touch. Everything was clean. The temperature control if the room was a little wonky and the walls were thin. Service was great and the brunch was top notch.

Awesome room. We stayed an extra night. đź‘Ť

The hotel was beautiful, and the staff were wonderful. My only complaint was the room was a little cold, however that did not ruin the experience, and we will definitely come back in the future.

We had an amazing spacious room and location was prefect. The beds were very comfortable and room was clean. The view overlooking the pool was gorgeous.

Classic hotel. Lots of construction going on around it in Nov. 2024, but was still easy enough to get around. I loved the historical feel.

I surprised my husband with a birthday trip. The hotel was very nice and everyone was super friendly. Our only complaints were the bed was super uncomfortable and the shower head was made for someone under 5 ft tall and we are both super tall so it made showering very interesting. I get the whole keeping the hotel authentic for the time period but the shower head needs a lift. Other than that the hotel was centrally located to everything we wanted to do.

Loved the hotel and staff!

When we arrived, the receptionist tried to get us to take a room with two queen beds instead of a king which is what we had booked. It took about 10 extra minutes for them to get it back to a king. When we arrived to the room, it was very old school with a decent amount of space. In the bathroom, however, there was little space and there was a step in tub. The toilet was so close to the counter that my shoulder touched it while I was sitting on the toilet. As I stood up, the corner scraped my side. Also, the hot water in the shower was not constant! It came in waves and went from very hot to lukewarm every few seconds. The beds were fairly comfortable but there were no blackout shades to block the morning sun. Also, they are currently redoing their courtyard or area near The Alamo so at 7 am there were sounds of construction. Overall, a disappointing stay mostly due to the quality and size of the bathroom.

The Menger Hotel is amazing for it's location and colorful history. Everything we wanted to do in San Antonio is within walking distance including the famous river walk. Our room was clean and comfortable and we were very pleased with our hotel accommodations. We will definitely book another stay at the Menger in near future.

Very enjoyable stay. The construction for the Alamo required a little adjustment but not an issue, they provide a lot of information about it on the website. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well equipped. Free water! It always kills me to finally get in a room after a day of travel to find a bottle of water in the room is $6.00.

The location of the hotel was ideal. The historic feel of the hotel was amazing. The room size was small and the shower absolutely was terrible. Buffet was a bit overpriced for what we got.
2.5
It was in excellent condition for an older hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was a nice property.

I was disappointed. Room was extremely small for the price The a/c wasnt working in some parts of the hotel. It didnt cool enough either if it did work and they didnt tell you that until you checked in. Bed was very uncomfortable.

The building is amazing, the bed so comfy. However, the staff for breakfast were the rudest we've encountered in the whole of Texas and at checkout the receptionist took a call when serving me and someone in the back was moaning about a customer who had complained about their room being 'stuffy'. So unprofessional.

Perfect location. The hotel was a little dated but was worth it. Very nice experience!

Excellent hotel & the history of it was fabulous. Plus it was so close to where we wanted to visit, the Alamo & Riverwalk

Always an amazing experience, staff is friendly it’s very clean and priced well not to mention beautiful.

Business Trip. I enjoyed the "Old World" atmosphere. Very clean and well-maintained for an old building. Economical!

It was a pleasant & satisfying stay. Bed was comfortable. We didn’t have any meals at the hotel. The grounds and architecture were very nice.

This hotel was beautiful, it was built in the 1800's and still has the old-world charm. The staff were all friendly and helpful and it was close to the attractions that we wanted to visit. We would stay there again.
2.5
The beds were comfy the air conditioner worked great and the place was absolutely beautiful. The only complaint that I have is that the Walls were thin and you could hear between the rooms especially the water pipes. But we would definitely stay there again as the history of the Hotel was amazing!

We had a lovely time… comfortable and cosy for one night. Great location for vibrant city and efficient valet parking. Hotel itself was a sight-seeing treat on its own! Also - Very powerful plumbing!
2.5
Nice historic hotel, staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. View out the window will be nice once construction is complete. Would definitely stay there again

Amazing historical hotel. Close to the riverwalk, shopping and food.
2.5
There was a lot of construction in front of the hotel making it hard to get around. Having to use valet parking is expensive too.
2.5
I would have to say that the breakfast brunch at $28 is overpriced. There isn’t anything overly special about it. With that said, the hotel is very nice, historic and the service from the employees is excellent.
2.5
Menger never disappoints. Love the history and the proximity to the GPA conference

Had the best time satying. Perfect location for a downtown visit. Everything in less than a 5 minute walk from my room for me.

I don’t leave reviews that often but it was pretty bad here. I got to the room and it looked okay at first. Took a shower and the water pooled to my shins. Called maintenance and they fixed it but same problem the next day. When I went to lay in bed there was food debris under the bed cover. It looked like someone had cheetos and wiped their hands everywhere. The sheets had not beed changed. This was probably five hours after turning the air conditioning on as low as it could go. The temperature did not get below 76F as the air did not work. I asked for a fan which I was able to get. Did not walk on carpet without my sandals as it was very sticky. When I first arrived after a long travel day I had gone to the bar to grab a drink. I probably waited 25-30 minutes and multiple people had walked up to the bar and gotten drinks and I had not been asked if I wanted anything at the table. Wasn’t sure if I needed to order at the bar. So without being served I left and went to Crockett Tavern with good service.
All that to say, I travel a lot. I don’t expect much out of very cheap places. Even cheap places change their sheets. The Menger is very expensive. In spite of the price, it is extremely dirty.
Housekeeping and maintenance were very nice and tried to remedy things quickly.

Love the history and extraordinary welcoming staff.

Mark at the front desk made our trip so nice. He made you feel like you were at home. Beautiful hotel. Very well maintained and clean.
2.5
Great hotel but The Alamo construction is huge. Right next door.

Very historical, perfect location.

First impression wasn't that great. There is so much construction going on it was very hard to find the hotel. When you look at the pictures online you expect to see this grand colonial hotel at it's best. This is not the case at all. It's dreary. It gives more of a crimson rose feel. But the pool and the garden is magnificent. Along with the dining hall.

Front desk at night was a guy and he was absolutely helpful loved him !! Everything was perfect bar was fun too! Only thing was getting to the hotel was kind of tricky due to construction around but overall wonderful !

I really enjoyed my stay!

Room was neat and clean and the hotel has some neat historical items. Bed was comfy, but creaky floors may be a drawbackfor some. If youre looking for a modern, updated place, this is not for you. If you enjoy historic ambiance and old world charm this is your place. Biggest drawback is a temporarily inconvenient environment due to construction around the Alamo. Overall, would stay again.
