Nice pool and nice bar, but the check-in process and the checkout process are pretty horrible
This is very typical with Brazilian hotels but 35 minutes to check out is just ridiculous

Place was fine it was under construction part of the time staff was pretty friendly. But I had a shirt pressed and they sprayed some chemical on it and got these light spots all over it. They said they would take it back and fix it, did that twice but fixed nothing just re packaged it. Then a staff member came to the room and took pictures and insured i would be reimbursed. i asked her if she wanted receipts she said no. Four inquires later and I just get deflected every time because said party isn't in or whatever excuse they have for the day. Stay there it's fine they are nice but be warned don't use the laundry service or expect to be reimbursed at all if they mess your stuff up.

The hotel staff were are friendly and cheerful and attentive. The facilities are well kept even though renovations are going on. The mocktails are delicious. Amazing location

I liked how nice the amenities were. I liked how nice the staff was

The hotel is under renovation and it was extremely inconvenient to get off in the middle of a busy street with bags to check in and hotel staff to assist. The hotel reception was just concrete screed. Quite easily the worst stay in a 4/5 star hotel so far and I’ve been in more than 15/20 hotels in the last couple of years

The personal who works at this Hotel are great, on all areas since the hosting, cleaning, brunnch service, front desk and make us feel great to everyone of my family.
These guys are very friendly and eager to service and give the best of them.

The property is undergoing renovations right now, the common area, although clean are scant.

Being a three minute walk to the beach in one direction, and a two minute walk to stores, groceries, pharmacies, etc in the other direction was ideal. When on the beach, one has no idea of being close to anything else. Staff was particularly helpful, friendly and very kind. Staff and location were the big things. Of course it was clean. It is not a luxury hotel in the sense I think of luxury hotel...but it had all the amenities of a luxury hotel at normal-people rates.

Lovely staff, great location, great room and cleanliness. We stayed at the family room as a family of 4 and it was a big room and we didnt feel overcrowded. We lived it and would definitely stay again

You have to pay for the ice if you need some.

My room had a mildew smell. I didn’t care to change and complain but I probably could’ve asked. The staff was very nice and room cleaning each day seemed decent enough though I don’t know how thoroughly they clean. I clipped my nails and saw one of the clippings there the days going forward so I don’t know if a thorough floor cleanse is daily. All of my cleaning people were nice though and I could tell the toilet and shower was cleaned each day
Area around the hotel was great! Very walkable, very safe besides the occasional aggressive hobo.
Free beach umbrella and chair each day was AWESOME!
The rooftop terrace in the photos does not exist

It's a nice hotel, with a great breakfast, good Wi-Fi, comfortable bed and pillows. It's close to many nice restaurants, some of them authentic Brazilian . The room is very spacious, and the price is moderated.
I had intention to extend my stay for more three days, and that would be with my husband coming form US, however, I never got the price and if I could stay in the same room. Then , I moved to another nice hotel.

Staying at the Grand Mercure in Rio was a great choice. Safe, clean and with the kindest and most helpful staff, we really enjoyed our stay. The staff had some great recommendations for places to eat which really helped us!

We stayed here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was a good price and very close to everything we wanted to do. Very central. Our room was fine except that the air conditioning was leaking.

Hotel looked nice, room was spacious and staff welcoming. Location good for attractions, but a little restless/shady in the evenings.
For a 4 star hotel I was surprised they charged us for coffee capsules they provided in the room. Have never seen a 4 star hotel without complimentary coffee or water.

It is an OK hotel, in a good location as it is very close to the beach. The staff is friendly and very helpful but this is not what I would describe as an upscale hotel. I found the room to be a bit uncomfortable. My main issue was the cleanliness. At the beach, I could not find a tent it Keep in mind that if you need to iron or use a hair dryer, you need to request these and they may not be available. I found the room to be uncomfortable,

Adjacent to the beach. Decent facility. Our room was a bit small and there’s no pool. But decent price for the location. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Other than the AC noise that caused a change for a different room, this hotel is excellent.
The 4-star could go up to 5 if the maintenance were a bit better.
Excellent service from the staffs.

This hotel is steps away from Rio’s quintessential beach. Felipe, one of the hosts, was very efficient, friendly, and was ready to give tips on where to go and what to eat. The property itself is a bit dated and the hallways feel a bit cramped. That said, you come to Rio to enjoy the outside, so balance your expectations, location, and price point.

Very nice hotel in a great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They also made some great recommendations for shopping and dining. Location is few steps from the famous fort which has one of the greatest views of copacabana.

Nice hotel in a good location. The breakfast area is very strangely laid out.

The hotel is located I. A beautiful part of town. Tons of restaurants to choose from and right near the beach. The breakfast is amazing! The gym has a great view but most importantly was the helpfulness of the staff and how positive they always were.
Bad point. The internet is horrible, awful wifi. I had to check out and move hotels to work because the internet wasn’t good enough to have calls.

That was very very nice experience in Rio, all good and the best service was the girl in the breakfast who make the omelette and the guy in the reception is white young guy his name is ommar I think, but those two are amazing service VIP.. the hotel need to feel proud of them 👌 Thanks so much

Their credit card payment system is not the best. As a matter of fact my visa cash rewards was accepted in many places, but not at the hotel.

The property was close to the beach, was way overpriced for the value and service (because of Carnival), but even at its usual rates was high. Th staff were all exceptional friendly, were good at arranging for taxi, were fair at arranging for tours, and were pretty bad at giving directions or guidance concerning subways and busses, restaurants, ATM machines (that other hotels actually have in their lobbies!). The hotel provided ample security, had an absolutely marvelous breakfast with long hours to accommodate the all night carnival party scene (those just returning at 6 and those who slept late (though 10 should have been 11!). The room was small and the bed and bath were comfortable and spacious. The shower was the best designed I have seen in any hotel- with the on/off & temp regulator on the wall opposite the shower head (a rain style) and a hand held with a button to switch between shower and hand wand. The room attendants were very good; room food service person were good, but the menu for dinner and lunch is sparse and average at best. Front desk staff were always busy, but were efficient, so wait times were tolerable, and very friendly, even if not always so knowledgeable about the surroundings.

An expensive hotel where internet does not work.

Didn't like the lack of a view. I loved the way the staff worked hard to make stuff right.
