Excellent and gorgeous hotel.
Will stay again next time

The architecture is impressive. Rooms are good size. The view of Taipei city is disappointing. The rooms are outdated and needs renovation and a thorough cleaning.

Hotel and room are nice and the restaurant food was good ,too!
The only complaint I have is the cleaning staff start working around 8AM?
They were noisy in the hallway and sound
proof was not good at all!

A great and grand hotel. Unless you have a car, need to depend on hotel shuttle to visit most of the attactions.

My stay in the Grand Hotel over the past week was simply amazing in every aspect that a traveler like me always hopes for.
5.0
Top service level in terms of helpfulness and cleanliness maintenance.
Due to Taiwan hit by Typhoon Kong Rey, I left Yilan hurriedly the moment I booked an additional stay 1 night on Oct 31. Originally I only reserved room for Nov 1 night. The counter staff was very helpful to get me a room to enable 2 night-stay continuously. She even found me a room for immediate/ early check-in. I was very grateful.
Oct 31 night was scary with the strong howling wind banging and brushing on the full glass sliding door. I had drawn the curtains but I could feel anything could be engulfed from the balcony ( I stayed on the 9th floor). In the following morning, I saw the floor at the balcony covered with stones and stand. Also, a broken light cover.
Assuming the debris would take some days clear due to manpower shortage. To my surprise, my room including the entire balcony were cleaned and tidied up when I returned to the room in the afternoon. Great compliment to the management and staff of The Grand Hotel in Taipei.
The food in the restaurant was enticing and the walk along the underground secret path with the narrative of the historical past was amazing. The quick cleaning up after the typhoon was greatly commendable!

Checkin staff not kind. Breakfast expensive, but staff already took away things 10 mins before deadline. Pool is not in the hotel, but yiu need to take a bus (!).

We loved staying at The Grand Hotel! The room was lovely, the hotel is beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful. We actually extended our stay one night because of a typhoon. The concierge was very helpful in helping us figure out travel plans. The free shuttle to the MRT was a big help

Loved our stay, very stylish and full of history. Will stay again if we visit Taipei in the future. We loved our huge balcony.

The Grand Hotel is a truly unique, historic property. It lives up to its name, affording excellent dining options and updated rooms with spectacular views from its hilltop perch overlooking the Keelung River and city skyline.

Love the authentic building.
Excellent views out the balcony.
Very friendly staffs.

The Grand Hotel Taipei is still Grand, but the people running it are NOT. With the exception of the housekeeping staff this property needs a management staff overhaul top to bottom.
the written and verbal policy is hostile and unfriendly.
Get a Swiss general manager and clean house.

The hotel is not well connected, quite a few people of the staff do not speak english, the pool is really inconvenient to reach. The room somehow did not feel homey. The hotel is beautiful but felt inconvenient especially for a western tourist

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting

Biggest flaw is its location - being on a hill, it is either a shuttle bus ride (with 20 minute headways) or a 15 minute hike to the nearest MRT stop.

All the staffs were so professional and accommodating without being asked. The room was cleaned daily, the pool was nice with plenty of restaurants on the premises. Definitely worth a return visit.

Historical property. My two night was strange. I cancelled third night stay. Check history before you book.

we were in the annex part of the hotel that is more rundown than the main hotel.

Despite the impressive architecture and interior design, we absolutely hated our stay in the Grand Hotel due to extremely poor and at time rude customer service. The hotel caters mainly to Chinese guests with very limited information in English, particularly deals and offers displayed outside restaurants. The pool area was also not welcoming, the changing rooms were dated and dirty and extra charges apply if you want to use sauna. No bar at the pool area, you have to walk across the club dining area in your swimming gear to get a drink. The beds are extremely hard, almost like sleeping on hardboard. So we would not recommend staying in this hotel if you are after relaxing experience. Just horrible attitude from staff.

The staffs are polite, and extremely helpful. Provided us a memorable and enjoyable experience.

The Grand Hotel is rich in its history. We enjoyed the secret tunnels tours and its special vinegar gift very much.

Staffs are exceptional, they are courteous, extremely helpful in getting our luggage before we can check in and after we checked out. Plenty of staffs to help with several large groups of tourists. The balcony room facing the city is simply grand, with tall ceiling, huge balcony and the entire city is in front of us.The city view at night is beautiful. We eve caught a brief fireworks display. The breakfast buffet is unbeatable, lacks nothing. The secret tunnel tour is also historically interesting and greatly enriched our experience while staying there. It exceeded my expectation and highly recommended, specifically with the reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel.

There are many parking spot in the hotel. The area is nice and quiet. The lobby is very beautiful and it is already renovated the room.
