The Spier is a lovely vineyard with good accommodation. They are now starting a complete renovation of the hotel and keeping all their staff on as part of the plan . I have always felt completely safe and cared for within the hotel grounds . A wonderful breakfast in the sunshine is the perfect way to start the day . There are many things to do swimming , cycling , walking , visit the hotel vegetable garden and see the birds enroute . I look forward to visiting Spier next year after its renovation

This was our sixth visit to Spier. We just love everything. Rooms, the whole area, the pool, restaurants and the beautiful, awesome staff.

Lovely rural hotel and village feel close to Stellenbosch. Beautiful walks around the wine farm village

First time staying here in Winter but just as stunning as in Summer. Especially with gas fire lit .
Spotlessly clean and amazing walks around the farm.

Amazing stay at a well run hotel. Large rooms and great service.
Hotel restaurant was excellent and we ate in most meals as a result.

Booked a luxury room with a single and double bed. The room only had a king size bed, we asked reception to change it and they said they would. We went to the bar, then went back to the room before dinner and the nothing had been changed. We rang reception again and they sent 2 people over who told us you can have 2 bed in the apartment. I showed them the booking that said a double and single bed included. They then said call reception which we did again and they said they’d take care of it. When we returned after dinner it wasn’t change so I slept on the sofa. I’ve stayed there before with wife and kids with 3 beds in a room so they clearer just couldn’t be bothered. I must say all staff at the bar, restaurants, wine tasting and hotel porters were excellent though.

Arrived fairly late in the afternoon and we were unaware of the Wine tasting included in the hotel price. The receptionist called the Wine tasting and they fitted us last minute. Very considerate and helpful staff.

Great for kids and make sure you go to Eagle Encounters while you stay there if you have kids or like birds.

Spier is a fabulous place. We've been coming here for 10 years and they continue to put in new art, the grounds are always becoming more beautiful and the staff are still there and just outstanding as always. Love! Great for families too.

Beautiful, clean, family friendly which means that everything closes at nine, so no late night drinks in Spier. Very friendly staff. Nothing close to this so you need a car or uber to go anywhere. Uber to Stellenbosch less than 5 euros. Beautiful wines, especially reds.

My wife and I have been staying at The Spier since 2004. As usual the staff were welcoming and friendly and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant one evening. We love being able to walk on the estate in a safe and secure environment. Our one disappointment is the fact that the big screen in the bar area had been removed so what used to be the focal point in the evening and where guests would gather for a nice drink and a chat had gone.

The art throughout the property was beautiful and really added to the stay. We enjoyed a great dinner at the hotel too.

This was our first visit and stay at The Spier Hotel.
First we entered the gate and seen this beautiful calm space with plenty of trees and flowers. Welcome wine at the lobby was also nice. The access to our room was also good, however if it was raining then it might be little tough to the room.(there was no rain during our stay).
Room was quiet and clean and modern design. Fire place was also nice thing to have.
Wine tasting, bakery, craft shop was fun experience. Restaurant was fantastic, taste really good and the staff was friendly and professional.
We would like to visit again!

I stayed here for a wedding and had an absolutely amazing stay. The staff were so kind and helpful and the room was the best I have stayed in…ever. I always struggle with triple rooms because I always find the room becomes cramped and more claustrophobic with the additional bed, but not here. It still had so much floor space, which was great with all the luggage. Also having our own garden area and shared pool was lovely, alongside the double sinks in the bathroom. I honestly could not have asked for more. The decor was quaint and fitting. I also went to the spa which was a treat. I’m not much of a wine drinker which is a shame as thats what Stellenbosch is known for, so the complimentary bottle on arrival sadly went to waste. It was a wonderful touch though!

We loved Spier Hotel.
I was a little suspicious as I don't like big commercial resorts/wine farms, but Spier Hotel was absolutely perfect; we booked for Easter Weekend and there were so many things to do for kids. The staff were really good.
We had a riverside terrace room, beautiful big room; the bathroom is a little dated but totally adequate, and a good powerful shower! We could hear the people in the room upstairs, especially when they were moving chairs etc...but it wasn't too bad (and I usually hate neighbouring noise!). The bottle of wine in the room was a nice touch, as well as a little easter egg hamper for our daughter. The estate itself is just stunning, very well kept grounds, beautiful walks and if you have time, get free bikes at reception and do the 5km ride around the grounds early morning, it's so beautiful! Night market was a nice little bonus too. All in all, we would not hesitate to book this hotel again!

Very nice hotel, big rooms and beautiful garden.
It would be good to prepare the seats around the swimming pool before people arrive.

The Spier is one of my favourite hotels when I want to be just part of the countryside and away from the bustle. 2 days in Camps bay, 2 days in Spier - perfect.

The whole property, especially the grounds are even more impressive and well maintained than the last time I was there. Great staff, and room. The Veda restaurant is delicious and the setting is magical. I've been coming to the Spier for years and it never dissapoints. The buffet breakfast is always a highlight!

The rooms are grubby, run down, bath and basins scratched and unappealing. Breakfasts were completely unappetising - passed on day 2. Would have left straight after checkin if i could have been refunded. Could have got better at half the price.

Spier is absolutely phenomenal. From the friendly and extremely helpful staff, wonderful meals, spacious rooms, to wine tasting and beautifully kept grounds, everything at Spier is a great experience. We would like to express our gratitude for Spier's support in a moment of crisis where we received so much support that made us feel less stressed. The staff genuinely care about their visitors, making the stay very enjoyable and memorable. We will be back for sure!

Thank you for a wonderful stay at the Spier Hotel. My wife and I and our 8-month old baby spent a leisure weekend at the hotel. Everything was in order from the moment we checked in, and all the staff very friendly and helpful. A baby cot was already in place without any requests being made from our side. The restaurants on site including Vadas and the pop-up store were phenomenal. Dining at the hotel restaurant was fantastic and the continental breakfast included a nice spread. A specific word of appreciation to the hotel managers, Bridget and Jillian and the waitress Lusanda who tried everything possible to accommodate us and our 8-month baby. The rooms were clean and the various walks/views picturesque. The avaiability of various on-site activities including the wine tasting/ animal encounters/ segway tours definitely adds to the experience. A truly enjoyable getaway.

Lovely stay. The open spaces and the farm is great. Service in the restaurant for breakfast was inconsistent and the hotel rooms are due for a refresh or modern update

Great place for wine tasting for parents and lots going on for little ones too. Can easily spend 2 to 3 days there

What did I like that was unique about the property? The grounds.
What didn't you like? Some noise from vehicles - not serious.
