It was very clean, quaint and with a lot of character. The staff was amazing. I loved my stay there.
4.7
Nice hotel in well- kept 19th century style.
Several bars and restaurants in same building. Highly recommend if you want a historical experience. Breakfast was adequate but could have been better assorted.
4.7
The hotel is unique, historical but updated, and on a block with a few bar/restaurants plus a bar of their own. Our room was clean and spacious (they gave us an upgrade because they weren't fully booked), the bed was comfortable, and the shower pressure was great. I couldn't give the area 5 stars, however, because the hotel is right next to both a busy street and a railroad line which intersect, making it loud-ish from traffic and very loud when the train horn blows! They did thoughtfully provide earplugs, and we really weren't all that bothered by the noise, but we were surprised by it.
Breakfast was provided, a few basic hot foods and an array of cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. We received drink coupons for happy hour in the bar, but we ended up not using them.

Lovely, intriguing and a bit quirky. Could use a bit of care - minor maintenance. Nice and tasty breakfast in a really nice space. We’d stay again.
4.7
Loved the place, and yes, I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

Overall, it was a good hotel. The antique ambiance is fantastic and definitely different from the run-of-the-mill corporate hotel. The location is great - a 10 minute walk to the capital and convention center. There were a couple of things that could have been better -
1. Cleanliness - overall the hotel was clean, but there were several spiders on the ceiling that were not removed even after the room was cleaned. I removed two myself when they crawled over the bed.
2. There is no 24-hour staff. I recall staff being present approximately 8AM-6PM. Other requests had to go through the bartender downstairs.
3. The complementary breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays is at the neighboring cafe, which only started at 8AM (and was not as good as the in-house breakfast, Mondays-Fridays).
4.7
Ruby Marie is a lovely, historic hotel. We loved learning the history of the building and the area. The rooms are very updated with charming furnishings and plenty of space. Breakfast in the attached cafe was delicious.
We enjoyed the bar and restaurants nearby. We also had fun walking across the street to the lake and the convention center.

Hotel was nice and clean

The cafe that served a minimal breakfast could use a good cleaning and make over... I couldn't reach or see in serving dishes as they were on a deli counter and too high! Has potential to be really cute.. loved decor in room, and loved hearing trains!
4.7
This was a wonderful, charming hotel. Even the lobby was "old-school, with wood desks, magazines, and a friendly clerk. The room was quaint, in the best way. Lots of wood furniture, the bed was comfortable, even the toilet was re-jiggered to look like an old toilet (the tank was mounted high on the wall, and the flush handle had a pull-chain. So charming! The breakfast was first-rate, and the HVAC was quiet (rare in hotels). I highly recommend.

Very unique hotel…..loved the decor…..antiques and old pictures! Walkable to eateries and convention center.
Had problem with AC…..tried to quick fix it instead of fixing the real problem.
CON…..A lot of street noise and a very loud train that would pass by day and night. Ear plugs provided. Wouldn’t stop me from staying again!

Cute, old style hotel with on site parking and breakfast included.

Beautiful old building. Friendly and helpful staff. One of my favorite hotels in town.
4.7
I enjoy historic buildings, the stained glass is beautiful. The balcony and garden space were peaceful. Happy hour and breakfast were great amenities.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ruby Marie. It was less than 3/4 mile walk to Breese Steven’s Field and we felt safe walking there and back. The hotel was very charming. It’s a very old building but it was clean and everything worked properly. It had a lot of style. I had a good time in both of the bars next to the hotel and met friendly people. The German restaurant had a band playing that night and it was a great party atmosphere. The free parking is in a lot adjacent to the hotel so it was as convenient as it gets; however, be careful not to park under the tree- it dripped a lot of sap all over our car. The television in the room was tiny, but that didn’t bother us as we didn’t turn it on. The place had a pre-television feel anyway, which was cool. One quibble: they had the cheapest toilet paper possible. It was incredibly thin but somehow very rough at the same time, similar to a CVS receipt. For the price they charge, they should upgrade the toilet paper.
We would definitely stay at the Hotel Ruby Marie again.

Everyone was so nice and the property has such character! Will definitely stay again!

Great, charming historic hotel close to everything downtown. We parked in the lot and didn't get back in the car until our stay was over - plenty of dining, bar, comedy & entertainment options nearby. My favorite was that our breakfast was two coupons for free breakfasts at the restaurant next door - there were tons of options and great food!
4.7
Loved the antique/vintage feel and ambiance. Room was spacious. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was big and awesome. Staff was friendly. Love that you get two free drinks downstairs at the bar and a brunch voucher for the weekend. I will definitely be back!
4.7
We loved our stay! We were in town for a concert at the Sylvee and rhis hotel was walkable to the venue. The bar and restaurant next store were great!

This is a beautiful boutique hotel.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Hotel Ruby Marie while visiting our son at UW. Each time we have been impressed with the hotel and the good service provided. We've enjoyed great weekend breakfasts at Come Back Inn and some fun evenings at the Essen Haus--so convenient to the hotel.
4.7
We loved our stay in the Ruby Marie that is just off one of the lakes and its walkway in Madison. The rooms are spacious and charming, with comfy arm chairs, gas fireplaces, beautiful wood work, and nice and roomy bathrooms. The king bed was super comfortable.
It is conveniently located with a 10 minute walk to the capital and State Street.
4.7
Charming little hotel with big rooms. It’s a short walk to the capital area. Breakfast was so so and switches for the lights were a little odd but overall a fun place.
4.7
Very cute botique hotel. Free hot breakfast and very friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.
4.7
Very nice older style hotel, I would stay again.

Very clean.

Unique atmosphere, friendly staff, charming hotel. Great stay and we’d come back.
4.7
Hotel is very eclectic…bed was really comfortable and location was great
4.7
Lodging was great except for outdoor noise related to the attached bar.
The breakfast at the attached restaurant was unbearably greasy. We both felt sick after eating there.
4.7
A cool spot.
4.7
Like a step back in time. Loved the uniqueness of this place!
4.7
Radiators sounded like a tennis ball in a dryer…all night. Now I get why earplugs were provided. Interesting old property, good Reno of bathroom, but noisy outside and in
4.7
Beautifully renovated elegance.

The Ruby Marie is a historic boutique hotel with a unique sense of place and a quaint yet classy feel. The staff was so personable and present - particularly Joshua! He set the stage for our great stay, and went above and beyond - when I forgot 4 small toiletry bags. Complimentary drinks at the Up North Pub with live music, and basic breakfast at Roseline's Cafe' made our stay warm and welcoming! Highly recommended for down to earth types who want a more unique stay than a conventional hotel. Small, sweet and satisfying!
4.7
Many wonderful local businesses for food options nearby. Came here to see a show and have old memories from staying in Madison before. Must have a taste for beer when coming to Madison.
The Ruby Marie has my heart with beautiful old fashioned rooms. Smaller rooms do not have the traffic noise. I enjoyed the bustle of traffic along the fringe of the State Capitol. When the freight trains came by in the middle of the night, I wasn’t bothered. There were some ear plugs for those not wanting to hear the streets of Wilson and Blair.
I would very much recommend a stay here if only for a short while.
4.7
Unique building with dining & spirits available close by. We enjoyed our stay. It was a little difficult to find initially but the search was worth the treasure found!
4.7
The staff was fantastic; we loved the bar right on the property. Very convenient to music venues. Will definitely be our go-to in downtown Madison.
4.7
