Overall, we give this property 2 stars. Starting with the Pros, it is very conveniently located to shops, markets, restaurants, taxi stations, ferry stations, and boat tours. At night there are many activities around the hotel such as karaoke, live music, local vendors, outdoor concerts, etc. The only good thing to say about the room is that the a/c worked well. Other than that, rooms are old (we got a family room and a double), worn out, have moldy bathrooms, the hallway light foes not work, etc. As for staff, they don't like being asked questions. The evening lobby receptionist is the worst one. If you are driving a car...good luck, they themselves don't know how to operate the parking lot gates. In summary, you definitely don't get what you pay for. My suggestion, don't stay here. Book way ahead of time since this area is very popular. My mistake was to wait to the last minute and all that was left was this. I should have spent a little more to stay in a better hotel in Amalfi or Tovere.

Grubby hotel. Shower was awful. Small and dilapidated. Breakfast was diabolical. Staff friendly and helpful but a serious need of renovation.

Loved staying at Hotel Miramare. Great location close to the beach, restaurants, and bus stops. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

Loved staying here. Second time since 5 years ago and it was just as pleasing. Though there may have been some language barriers at times, the staff went out of their way to make sure messages got across and we were helping with whatever we needed.

Starting with the pros (it will be quick)Close to the beach and busesBeds were comfortable Air conditioning worked wellAnd staff were helpfulConsNo coffee or tea facilities in the rooms. No swimming pool.Sun deck with shade is for permanent residence only.Hotel guests sun deck had no shade. And you get to share it with staff on their smoke break. To open the roller shutters to the balcony takes some muscle. Our shower flooded the whole bathroom and into bedroom for first two days. Our friends had no hot water for their first two or three days.If they say you are in the ‘executive suite’ this means a different building down a side alley in another residential block (or so it seems).Lifts both work well but so long as you aren’t claustrophobic.Breakfast isn’t worth the effort of going downstairs, toaster takes at least ten mins to toast, Bain Marie has fried eggs boiled eggs and mini hot dog sausages most days but never any hot water in the bottom to keep it warm, or you can have a choice of mozzarella or plastic wrapped cheese slices.Kettle is large and obviously boiled only at 7.30 so any later it is lukewarm tea, but they will get hot water but you have to ask. This hotel was recommended by Expedia when the panorama hotel unexpectedly closed and we had to change hotels, I don’t believe they were of the same standard, for Aud dollars 185 a night I would have expected more.

Pros: comfortable bed, although not could be said of the pillows, clean towels/ linen regularly Cons: we stayed in an “ executive room” that was located down a pigeon invested alley behind the hotel. It was similar to a self catering apartment without such niceties as a kettle. The shower ran cold or extremely hot depending on how it felt, very difficult to control, and was smaller than any you would experience on the smallest of cruise ships. Breakfast was something else! Even at 7.30am when it opened the “hot” water for a cup of tea was not anywhere near boiling. The selections of meats and cheese where something that I have never seen before, processed and with the appearance that they went in and out of the fridge,as they were left , each and every day. There was a “ bainmarie” that had no hot water or heating element for the fried egg or whatever else was in there. The butter/yoghurt/ cheese was not in any sort of chiller, nor were the juices/ milk/ water ( that was if there was any water) Really found the whole place to be of a low priced budget hostel standard, not of that of a hotel. So very disappointed

The hotel was in a great location in town and easy to find. The way to get there from Naples wasn't easy. We were told the best way to get there was by train to Salerno and take the bus from there to Maiori. The bus ride along the very windy coastline was hot and nauseating, and decidedly not a choice we would repeat. The return bus drops you off three blocks from the Salerno train station to walk with your luggage. The town of Maiori is easy to get around to restaurants and shopping. Mario & Maria's --the best! Our room was always well cared for. But upon arrival we met a man smoking a cigar in the lounge. The staff didn't greet us well and there was one person who just stood around and didn't speak or greet us. Then there was no response when we asked to fix the sun shade that would not open-- and we awoke to the smell of sewage two days in a row. I didn't feel it was worth what we paid, compared to our stay at hotels in Rome and Naples.

The location is good one Block from the beach, bed was comfortable and breakfast was excellent. The only inconvenience was the small bathroom with the door blocking the toilet

A good base for exploring the Amalfi coast. Not really 4 star accommodation but a solid safe clean well positioned base. Breakfast on sun terrace was a nice idea but needs to be better refrigerated!

Our first night we got no sleep at all because of a ceiling fan rattling and banging very noisily. The rooms were like ovens. We were moved on day 2 at least the fan was quieter. But having no English language channels at all on TV is not good customer service.Breakfast is quite the worst food offer I have ever seen in decades of staying in hotels. Nothing, not even the fruit juice was refrigerated. Cold meat and cheese slices were sweating. Tea was served by giving us half a tea cup od tepid water and a tea bag. i was given some sort of blackcurrant flavour tea which the waiter was sure was Green tea. Charging B&B at this place is bordering on sharp practice, we never went back in to that room. The hotel is what it is and we did book last minute, but last minute booking or 6 months in advance would not change the worst breakfast offer I have ever encountered. No hotel concerned about food safety would put dairy products and meats out on a table for who knows how long unrefrigerated. Unbelievably bad.

We took the bus from Salerno to Maiori, got off bus and walked 3 mins to the hotel, tops. Clean and friendly with a lovely patio on the 4th floor ( 5th floor to us Americans) that overlooks the Mediterranean. Wish we had stayed more nights.

Staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. no complaints there at all. Just felt disappointed that my room overlooked a car park, rather than the sea and that rather than breakfasting overlooking the sea, it was downstairs in a windowless room. Shame. I expected something more, something better for my money. There is much wasted space in this hotel. there is a nice terrace with good views but nothing happens there, no bar, no breakfast, nothing really. The bar in the hotel is a dead area in the foyer with no life at all. would be good to have a bit of life, a bit of music, for a pre dinner drink but I never saw anyone there. And to make use of the terrace would be good. I looked at 4 star hotels there and they were different to Miramare. It was kept clean but it was dull.
