We loved our stay but the wash basin in our bathroom did not drain properly.

Lovely hotel in a quiet setting near to Wigan and the M6 motorway junction. Great facilities, friendly staff, nice rooms.
4.3
Beautiful room, very spacious! No air con though and it was a boiling hot day so I didn't have the most comfortable sleep. However, the staff were lovely, the restaurant was nice and I had a lovely stay otherwise
4.3
Peaceful room on ground floor as requested. Staff professional and friendly.

Lovely hotel and the ladies on reception were lovely. We were with a wedding party and managed to get our room early which was a bonus. The grounds are beautiful, pretty and immaculate. The only reason I’m not giving it a 5 star for cleanliness is foe to the fact there was a stain on the bedding, carpet and curtains in our room.
We’d still come for another cheeky night away here though. All the staff are great.
4.3
Handy location for our long journey. Staff friendly and helpful with our 2yo. Nice leisure facilities too for us all to enjoy.

All very good

Lovely stop over spa and pool a bonus after long drive
Good night sleep lovely evening meal and great breakfast

The hotel is very nice which is why we stay there so frequently when visiting family. The gym, pool, the restaurant and bar are all very good.
The only down side is the 1030 check out. We would more than likely have breakfast on our stay at the Wrightington but it means getting up so early on Sunday to get ready, pack go down for breakfast and check out is all a bit of a rush.
Apart from this our stay is perfect.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff, food from Bennett’s is nice but slightly overpriced but apart from that I can not fault the hotel, gym & wellness area’s are nice & clean, rooms are a good size with lots of space for activities & the beds were really comfy my girlfriend really enjoy herself ;)

I only had an overnight stay because it was very convenient for the hospital so didn't try the spa or restaurant. The room was spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately the lift wasn't working but the very pleasant young lady on reception said she would check to see if there was a ground floor room available if required .
4.3
Good all round

T The bar and dining area was spacious and comfortable The room was clean, warm which made it very relaxing. Sadly the lift was 'out of order as I am disabled

Room wasn’t cleaned/made up very well. Restaurant ok. Pool ok. Jacuzzi burns your eyes.

Excellent stay

Good size room, lovely bath.
Not important but never. Seen such a poor choice of dull cheap biscuits in hotel

A fantastic hotel with friendly staff. Megan on the front desk is very welcoming and helpful, booking taxi’s & answering all or queries. Definitely made our stay more pleasurable. Thank you.

This hotel was nicely refurbished a few years ago and the staff have always been nice. The rooms at the Wrightington are starting to feel a little tired – our carpet needed a steam clean. Rooms do not have fridges which is annoying. WiFi in the rooms is absolutely terrible and sometimes non-existent. I have mentioned this in previous reviews on previous stays over a year ago, but no change. No drawers in room to unpack luggage.
Our door took 3 card readings before it would open (each time). Front door to hotel would be better if it was automated as it is hard to manage with luggage in hand. Beautiful area and decent breakfast are perks. We are hoping the Wrightington will keep up with the times because we love the location.

Great

Stay was overall good however a couple of points worth noting.
In the morning of our stay we got woken up by other guests above us. There seems to be wooden floor in the room above us and guests walking around woke us up.
Only other point was there isn't an electric charging point at the hotel this would be a good addition IMO.
The good points of the stay was that the room was large and modern, looked like it had recently been updated.
Breakfast was very good and evening meal was very good.
Would stay again in a different room to what was offered to avoid the wooden floors above us.

Was fine, bed comfortable, but noisy, could hear people walking above, and even having a wee!

Everything was very nice except there was no hot water in the morning so couldn’t have a shower.
Second floor room

Laid back

Overall ok. A long walk to our room, up two flights of stairs. Our room was very hot, no aircon. We could hear snoring from another room, and noise outside. Although both didnt last too long. Thank goodness. Our twin room was very spacious.
4.3
Just an over night stay to visit family. We have stayed here a couple of times previously and had our Wedding reception there in 2010, so we knew it would be good.
4.3
We picked the hotel because we wanted to be close to Wigan but not in Wigan itself, and the location was ideal - in a quiet semi-rural location but close to the motorway and the town.
Our room was fine. Food was nice. Staff were nice. We had one issue which got resolved quickly and efficiently. There was nothing not to like, and we will have no hesitation to stay again next time we're in the area
4.3
Lovely hotel. Only negatives were paper thin walls and could hear the room above me. Also are not able to pre authorise cards which made it difficult to charge anything to the room.
4.3
Lovely quiet location with plenty of facilities. The Bar was excellent and friendly. Two negatives. The breakfast options were of an inadequate standard for a hotel of this calibre. Access to bedrooms on the second floor requires to many staircases. There appeared to be only one lift and that was in the reception area.
4.3
From start to finish our stay at the hotel was excellent. The staff were polite and helpful, the facilities excellent and the dining experience was lovely. We will definitely be returning.
4.3
The room was clean, unlike the mugs. The bathroom had a dripping tap. Someone had left the plug in and the bowl was half full of water. The bathroom looked a little tired and could do with a refresh as bare wall was visible. The room and the rest of the hotel I could not fault. The meal in the restaurant was really nice. The choice of beer, excellent. They even put the football on the TV for us.
4.3
Lovely hotel. Very convenient location just off the M6
Used spa facilities which were great and the restaurant in terrific
4.3
Fantastic hotel , rooms excellent , evening meal really good , breakfast cooked to order and best of all amazing gym . What’s not to like - when working around the are will defiantly stay again
4.3
Lovely stay and great pool facilities, too. Food was lovely but not plentiful!
Noise from people in room above, quite bad. Sounded like they had hob mail boots on, just walking above us, whilst trying to sleep!
4.3
Great hotel - excellent spa and pool and very pleasant and helpful staff. We stayed there as we were going to a wedding nearby. The staff were superb and the hotel clean and high in quality. It lacks some of the luxury items in the room but in line with pricing and expectations given this is a 4 star property. Would certainly recommend it for anyone visiting the area.

On arrival for a friends wedding (I was doing her makeup) I was told I wouldn’t be able to check in until 3pm despite ringing ahead twice to confirm I could check in to get ready for the wedding.
When we eventually checked in we were disappointed with the room. We’d upgraded to a delux room which was just a slightly larger room with a view of the car park and no blinds only the full heavy curtains. Anybody walking past could see right in!
The bed (a standard double) was so hard and uncomfortable, both me and my husband struggled to sleep. We both woke with sore backs/ necks.
Staff from the wedding were lovely, however staff on front desk when trying to check in were rude and unhelpful.
I understand it is a busy hotel and visually it’s lovely! But I was expecting at least a king and reasonably comfortable bed.
4.3
My first impressions of the hotel were not the best as when I got to my room the dirty bedding from the previous guests was right outside the door to the point I couldn't get in without moving it. I went back to reception and informed them and I didn't get much of an apology just a oh they leave it there to be collected - They could have at least put it to the side of the door not right in front. I am also doubtful as to whether the room was hoovered as there was a lot of dirt on the floor. Things got a bit better as I went to use the gym and swimming pool. These facilities were excellent and are definitely the best thing going for the hotel. As a guest you can also attend the gym classes, I went to circuits and it was great fun! The restaurant was a bit disappointing for a 4 star hotel. On both occasions I ate there it took 35-40 minutes from ordering food for it to arrive. The food (I had the steak pudding and the chicken pad Thai) were no better than what you would be served in a pub. The chicken pad Thai was bland in flavour and came with egg noodles not rice as advertised on the menu. If you are not looking for excellent fitness facilities I wouldn't recommend this hotel as the rooms and restaurant are not 4 star standard, I would stay again for work purely because of the access to the gym, classes and pool but would eat somewhere else. Breakfast was £20 so I opted to go to Costa down the road so can't comment on the quality of breakfast.
