We had to switch rooms, our first one wasn’t cleaned. Like at all. The staff was friendly and made switching to a new room super easy. The second room was much cleaner.
We were super bummed we couldn’t use the pool or hot tub. Both looked like overly dirty fish tanks and smelled the same. That part was pretty nasty.

It's our first choice when we are in Crescent City. Our favorite part is that every room has at least a partial view of the ocean.
Plus they npw have a sauna that's up and running.
I had an opportunity to talk to the owner for about 20 minutes and share with him several areas of concern. He was very thankful as he took notes. The issue with mildew/ mold they are currently working on. He said it's been a constant battle. But it's a problem in every motel we've stayed at in Crescent City.

I booked this hotel thinking Oceanfront, for 2 nights and really excited to have the restaurant there. Especially open on Thanksgiving.
The staff was rather unenthusiastic, and the hotel lobby quite plain. The room appeared fine. When I went to dinner, there was someone cursing and throwing a fit in the kitchen about how they didn't know how to cook, and they were ready to walk out. I left to find dinner elsewhere and when I came back the guests were complaining about not having any place to eat or do things.
I was feeling rather uncomfortable being there. So the next morning I went to shower I found out that my shower had not been cleaned from the last person's uses. There was long hairs just everywhere all in the shower. It was so gross.
I went to dry my hair and the dryer simply would not work.
I went down to the desk and there was no one there. So I tried calling the desk without anybody trying to answer the phone.
At this point I enlisted hotels.com help to leave this place because there's simply no staff and no a help and not working facility that's unclean.
Even hotels.com couldn't get ahold of them Via phone and they weren't responded to via email. I tried to turn in my keys at the front desk where the girl finally was there and gave me a number to the manager who never responded to my phone call.
This is the worst experience I've had from a hotels.com booking. Makes me wary of using hotels.com. And I definitely would never return to this hotel.

I was switched into three separate rooms, the first two were absolutely horribly dirty and had a funny smell! I was as charged an additional charge to switch to a clean room!
This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and would not recommend for anyone to stay! Looks at the pictures there was bread under the heater that was hard as a rock!!

My fiance and I had a wonderful stay at your establishment. The ocean view was absolutely amazing!

Great location, good restaurant, Seaquake brewery 2 blocks away, plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Hotel needs a little TLC but was clean and good deal for the price. Wonderful vistas, I love the rough rocky coastline and the tidepools, if you want flat sandy beach there's a huge one south of it just on the other side of the marina.

We had a delay checking in. Room wasn’t ready and host had difficulty getting us a room. Then there was zero shampoo conditioner and soap in the shower containers. But the bar and restaurant were very good. Nice menu good drinks

Old hotel showing wear and tear. Windows filthy so we washed our own so we could see out! Lovely view of the ocean and rocky coastline. Nice to have restaurant and bar as part of the hotel. Most staff very helpful.

This place was probably great back in its day. Now? Maybe not so much. There was bird poo that had been painted over on the deck with other left behind trash from past guests. Someone had done something terrible in the shampoo bottle and some staff just seemed so over it all. Room itself was just fine and dandy and it is nice to have a restaurant on the premises. The view was so lovely too and I liked the rocking chairs on the deck. Pretty so-so experience.

I booked this hotel for the oceanfront balcony. The towels need to be thrown out. They were very dingy & raggity.

Spectacular ocean views, great balconies, and friendly staff in a clean, but bare bones and slightly raggedy setting. Worth it for the views and proximity to Redwoods parks.

We chose this location because of its location to the beach and lighthouse, but we were very disappointed.
1) In one room, the main light flickered and went out for the rest of the stay
2) In the second room, the window was broken and the window sill was dirty.
3) The place was obviously understaffed. In the restaurant, we went for an after-dinner desert; the waiter had worked since breakfast and bright in an untrained person to help, our visit being after 7PM. It took over forty-five minutes before we finally had our order taken and dessert finally served.
4) In the middle of the night, one of our room had someone beating on the door and yelling, leaving and returning to do the same.
5) The white towels are clean, but many of them were discolored.
Overall, this was one of the worst hotel visits we’ve had in a while.

The location is fantastic. The hotel itself needs maintenance. We found that although it looked clean a lot of things needed repair.
The elevators were broken for most of our stay. The blankets we were given, were literally ragged and full of holes.

Right by the beach, easy to access to watch the sunset, plenty of parking.
Clean but decor a little tired.

The parking lot looks like it was an abandoned property, trash, unkept landscaping. The hotel was not updated or kept clean. Dirty linens. They offered a meal coupon we could not use for breakfast.

Aging properly a few cosmetic issues with room, outlet cover missing, cabinet handle hanging, big room but one chair with no table, bed in front of door entrance, floor planks 1/2” gap as you walk were the negatives but front desk was helpful and friendly

Nice walk out to Battery Point and Lighthouse

Not bad, but staff was rude and not helpful, like being put off by asking questions and demanded $100 damage deposit( I realize this is common but the way it was conveyed as a demand) the hotel was clean but showing age and cleanliness in the halls and lobby.

A very quaint, old hotel, but nicely kept. A short walk to an old lighthouse

The view was the only thing that made our stay palatable. The desk attendants were bored and inattentive. I stood at the front desk for 2 minutes before I said excuse me to the young man who was playing games on his phone. They charge for every little thing. I asked for a plastic spoon and they said they had to charge me for it. We wanted a later checkout and they said it would be an extra charge. After paying over $700 for 2 nights, I thought that was ridiculous. The walls are thin and you can hear a lot of inside noise. I laughed when I saw the sign in the bathroom about prices for taken towels since 2 of our towels had fringes/large strings hanging from them and one had a couple of holes in it. We will definitely not be coming back.

DO NOT STAY HERE if you want a good experience. Rude, unfriendly, highly aggressive and moody staff, overpriced rooms that are not maintained or cleaned. MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE if you have a good experience or not. You will have to pay $.50 if you want a plastic fork. Dirty pool and spa. I could write up all the details of our stay, but you don't have time to read it because you have other hotels to look at. Next time I go to Crescent City, I'll stay at the Best Western or other branded hotel where I know I'll be treated with respect and get a reasonable rate on a cleaner room. The only redeeming quality was the view and that's because we were on the best side of the hotel view-wise. The other side is not desirable, at all. You won't stay in your room much, so the view isn't worth the poor treatment and disgusting room you are guaranteed to receive. I met several other very unhappy guests while there as well, including the family that checked in right behind me. Their room wasn't cleaned and they had to downsize to a small room for their large family at 10:45pm when they were exhausted from travelling, same as us. We waited 15 minutes just for someone to show up to check us in. We did not eat there. The menu was lack-luster and given the lack of cleanliness of the hotel in general, I can only image what the kitchen looks like.

Probably top three of the worst places I've ever stayed, especially after paying over $300. The hotel was old, dirty, and smelled bad. There was black mold around the shower, cobwebs on the ceiling, the cheap pergo-like floor was actually TAPED together in a spot with regular scotch tape. I refused to use the shower or hottub in the room because it was just unsanitary looking. Plus, they charged me an additional $50 for my dog upon arrival, when the website said it was pet friendly and made no mention of another charge when I booked on Expedia. That said, the beach was amazing if you're into rockhounding. Would not recommend.

The guy at the front desk was nice and gave a recommendation for local things to do. Which was nice because there was literally no local info in the rooms. The rooms were like half good half bad. The beds are super comfy but the bedding was a little stained and the sheets on one bed had what looked like a burn hole in it. Overall it was pretty clean except the walls in the room were dirty like splattered stuff on them. The vinyl flooring had large gaps between the pieces and the balcony needs a coat of paint. Lots of places for charging electronics. One thing that was really disappointing was I paid like $50 more than at a similar motel, to stay at a place with a pool for my son and when we checked in they told me it was closed for repair. Would have been nice for that to have been mentioned on the website when booking.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Stay was comfortable and view was magnificent! I would definitely stay again!

The man at the front desk on checking in was more interested in the phone call he was in and seemed annoyed I happened to come by. He barely spoke a word to me and disappeared behind a closed door on my last signature. The guy at the desk on leaving was the same way. You need to do some remodeling.

Beautiful view, super pet friendly. Except the one trash can I could find was not emptied for the 3 days we were there so it was overflowing making it a pain after picking up after dog.

The room was clean. The water was hot. The staff was great, but the view...absolutely beautiful. There may also be a little ghost action there, as well. Not a boring stay. We would stay here again.

We booked a one night stay in a room with a balcony to enjoy the ocean view. For that alone, we enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable too. Otherwise, the building was sketchy. The elevator didn’t work and they didn’t tell us until after we headed to our 3rd floor room. The laminate flooring in the room had several large missing pieces so we had to watch our step. The staff were few and provided base level service. Nothing horrible but nothing special. They were there. We loved the view, the rocking chairs on our balcony and the shower had great pressure.

seevice from front desk and at breakfast was below par. hotel was average and overpriced.
4.0 / 5.0
Oceanfront location is to die for. Building is good, but maintenance needs improvement. Our room plumbing needed repair, but was not fixed during our two day stay.
Pool whirlpool sauna need serious attention...lights out, poorly functioning jets and filters. (Milky whirlpool water was disgusting.) Pool was dirty. Staff were unengaged and seemed offput by any requests. Housekeeping was poor.
Did I say the oceanfront location was to die for? For that reason alone, I would recommend for an overnight stay, but I would not return.

It just wasn’t very clean. We picked it because we wanted a balcony to see the sunset on the beach and we were right on the beach.

Great location. Hotel restaurant acceptably priced for guests, and great option for breakfast. Walkable to tide pools, brewery, playground, dog park.

The staff were very pleasant. The view was amazing. However, the toilet had issues flushing and they were unable to fix it. The bed was also not very comfortable.

Fridges in multiple rooms didn’t work over heard another person complaining. My food I wanted for the next day spoiled. The pool area was so dirty there was sand in the hot tub and pool it’s an inside pool. Hair and band aid also was noticed in the swimming room. The commons looked run down. I’m super disappointed.
4.0 / 5.0
It was reasonably priced and very dog friendly. Easy check in. Dogpark down the street. Beds were comfortable but bedding could have been better. Could use a handyman for things that didn’t work quite right. A great brewpub in walking distance. Right on the beach w an average restaurant in the building. Would return.

Room was smelly and hear a lot of noises from oter rooms.

On a road trip….Found this gem. There was a great place to eat within walking distance and the property has a beautiful beach access. The room was clean and convenient. A little noisy in the morning as people let their room doors slam shut and moved through the hallway. But that’s coming from a person who likes to sleep in!
