Alarm clock broken, coffee maker broken, 20min plus wait to check in while kids played with everything behind counter. No adults to be found. Probably one of the worst experiences. We stay in hotels 4x's a month at least. Pool area very nice.

Everything was very nice, with overall northwoods/log lodge vibe throughout the exterior and public areas of the hotel. The pool was well maintained, but the sauna control panel was heavily used/abused and difficult to operate. Our main complaint was that Wi-fi is very flaky.

We were pleasantly surprised! The ambiance had a very homey Lodge feel. While we did not have time to enjoy them, the pools are amazing!

All staff members were extremely nice! Always asking if we needed anything. My kids had fun in the pool. Will definitely staying again next time we visit

We were new to the area and found this hotel right beside the UTV trail. The staff was GREAT at giving advice, directions, things to do, etc. The hotel had a really nice pool, hot tub and sauna. Our room was on the second floor and it was very comfortable and quiet. The hot breakfast on the weekend was very good and the continental breakfast on Monday still had the waffle maker available. The parking lot was spacious enough for a handful of pickups and trailers and still had room for a bunch of passenger cars. The only thing missing was an elevator to get to the 2nd floor room after a long day of trail riding. Ha! The bar area was a comfy place to unwind, have a beer and chat with other patrons. We look forward to going back next summer!

Nice clean rooms, friendly staff. All nice but prices are high for the area this motel is located

Our stay was great. The pool, splash pool, hot tub, and sauna offered something to everyone in our family of 4. Close to downtown and the lake.

Check in was excellent, friendly, highlighting concerts happening, great recommendations for pizza. Pool was marvelous.

I was highly disappointed in the quality and cleanliness of our rooms. We paid a lot of money, like $440 for 2 rooms, and this hotel had the quality of a low end motel. My first thought was a trap hotel. The rooms smelled horrible, the carpets were dirty and stained, the lighting was uwful, the fridge had a terrible odor of a dead animal when opened. The continental breakfast wasn't great. The coffee was watered down and the food options were limited. On a positive note, the staff seemed nice and the pool, hot tub, and sauna were pretty decent. Unfortunately, those things do not make up for the amount spent. I feel like a definitely took a loss with this one.

We've stayed at this hotel before under the former ownership. It's come a long way, and we're hoping it will continue to improve. Our AC was not working and the cleaning group didn't refresh some of the towels we had placed on the tub. The breakfast offerings were meager and could easily be improved, as well.

Our 1 night stay couldn't have been better, from the friendly, welcoming staff, the beautiful room and public areas. Enjoyed the pool/hottub, and continental breakfast as well

We were looking forward to a night swim but pool was closed while waiting for the permit to be issued.

The bar was not open nor was the pool and you could not see out the windows

Our only focus was on a good night's sleep...the room was clean and the beds were comfortable so our goal was met...it looks like it could be a beautiful facility with some "TLC"...some things need to be done now before it ends up in disrepair...

No pool, literally a banana and a cookie available for breakfast

Not as advertised. No pool, no hot tub and no bar!

broken and dirty

Not terrible, but not good either. Tired flat pillows, bed sheets smelled a little old, almost no options in continental breakfast for those that cannot eat wheat, flat coffee ran out quickly, and the smoke detector in our room was removed.

Hotels.com screwed us over. Hey didn’t actually make a reservation. AmeriVu in shell lake does not have a contract with hotel.com so even though we had paperwork for our reservation, there was no room booked for us. What a scam. Luckily the hotel could squeeze us in otherwise we were sleeping out in the cold.

We booked this room for the amenities included however to pool and hot tub were closed, lounge is closed and no continental breakfast. Should've done my research better as it seems the pool has been closed since 2019 and they keep telling people its "closed for maintenance". Could've stayed somewhere else for 1/2 the cost if we had known, but it wasn't advertised anywhere. Expedia was helpful when I called for a refund - they called the hotel and were denied a refund stating they "upgraded our room for the inconvenience" which is not true at all. After reading more reviews it looks like many people have had similar experiences.

The person checking us in was professional and upped us from a queen to king sized bed, which was a kind gesture. The room was generally clean, though there was a stain of unknown origin on the shower curtain and some seemingly post-wash stains on the sheets. The matress and pillows were not the most comfortable, but adequate for the night. The included breakfast was minimal. While we did not go for the pool for this stay as our kids were not with, it should be noted that neither the pool or hot tub were in working order despite it being promoted on this site as having those ammenities. I believe we were the only ones staying in the hotel. We paid $120 for one winter night, and it did feel overpriced for what the facilities were.

The hotel was freezing and it smelled so strong of curry that it made me nauseous. They lady tried to switch me to a different room but I told her that I wanted the one I reserved online. The pool and hot tub were drained and out of order. The temp couldn’t have been above 50 degrees and the heater in my room wad on high for four hours and couldn’t heat up my room. I gave up and left.

I had a warm room with a bed to sleep in and a bagel in the morning. But the coffee tasted like it had been there for a week, the bed sheets looked like they were never changed after the last occupant. There was rarely a clerk available or any housekeeping. And the pool/hot tub was empty. I received no word on this, nor on how to check out. For all this, I would expect to pay half of what I did. I paid a lot. The woman at the desk was friendly.

The pool was closed. Never told us when we booked it on Expedia.

When we arrived there was nobody at the front desk. Had to get a second room. First room had a broken toilet seat and the smoke detector kept chirping. When we got in the second room, there were no towels or pillows. The wallpaper border was ripped and windows were very dirty. Neither the swimming pool or the bar were open. Breakfast was very poor. Would not recommend the hotel.

We were very disappointed that the hot tub was “broken” it was one of the reasons we stayed there.. I personally think he just shut the pool are down because it was the off season.. The ice machine was unplugged as well..Staff was nice enough but overall the hotel could use some love!
