the Hotel is very large and lacks a feeling of Luxury or intimacy;
Stuff and undertrained, English is hardly spoken, and consumption is outrageously expansive;
overall it is an OK hotel but would need a deep renovation and review of conditions and services;
i would not recommend this hotel

Great property, enjoyed out door restaurant by the beach and the great acoustic guitarist and singer.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in

The hotel’s architecture, the landscaping , the pool, the spa, the food and the cleanliness are all great, but the service is the poorest I have ever experienced at a Ritz-Carlton property. The staff are truly lovely and very hard working, but their training is clearly lacking, procedures are haphazard and the property is not led well by the GM. I had to make many, many complaints - handled well by the F&B manager, Fethi and the Hosptality manager, Elaine (she is AMAZING and without her personal intervention and incredible support, we would have left after the first couple of days), but the despite this, did not see the GM at all, not once, around the property. In the end, I made an appointment to see him and he didn’t turn up for the appointment! He did apologize for not coming, claiming he had been at another appointment that over ran, but that sort of poor management, attention to detail and downright rudeness is a clear example of all that is wrong with his hotel. I would never stay there again and indeed, am reconsidering my 20 years of loyalty to Ritz-Carlton properties. A bitterly, bitterly disappointing trip.

Expected better for a ritz Carlton. Breakfast was good with tons of selection. That was the best part. Toilet sink shower clogs and slow draining. Broken outlets. Carpet smells like mildew. Pool was nice

we felt welcomed at Ritz. Our room was clean and comfortable, carefully taken care of by Chen Dan Dan. Our three year old boy had great time at the kids club and swimming pools. Many kids friendly activities during our stay (Christmas ). Check in and check out was easy with Zhang Wen's help.

We were not happy with the balcony with a wall which was blocking the beautiful view.

I would say overall the property is beautiful. Where the property falls apart is the language. Language/mass confusion was a common theme. Being from Canada and traveling in China I’ve come to expect language barriers. But I have yet to see a situation so poorly handled like this property. Starting with arrival. A room was booked online as a resort view. However the hotel said to them, that qualified as a garden view. To me that makes no sense. Moving forward. The luggage was to be brought up to the room upon check in. The bags never came, we called down and they had no idea what luggage even meant. After further explanation, luggage was understood and an hour later the bags showed up. Adding insult to injury, the phone range 3 times after stating that they needed a luggage number. At this point the phone ringing woke up our infant child over and over after a long day of flying this was not great. Explaining that the luggage had arrived and the luggage number was no longer necessary the calling finally subsided. Next: room service was ordered, again a process considering no one spoke enough English to even process what a a chicken club sandwich was. Which to me just doesn't make sense. Considering the menu is in English, you’d hope at minimum someone could understand enough to just put an order in. Sadly the food showed up cold, and late. The order was incorrect. Additionally the air conditioning did not work. Entire stay was an over heated mass mis-communication of a stay.

This is a very beautiful resort.
I loved the food in the Sand Restaurant.
In the morning i had to wait up to half an hour to get seated for breakfast. That is not what I would expect from a Ritz Carlton.
The pools are very nice, however the massage jets don’t work.
The evenings are rather boring. Besides a DJ there is nothing going on.
The SPA center is gorgeous.

The hotel is beautiful. The design blends with the beautiful grounds and pools. There are several restaurant options, including a delicious Italian restaurant. The spa facilities were extensive and elegant. The rooms are spacious. The staff was helpful. English speakers among the staff were few but between hand signals, smiles and Google translates we navigated our way through well. Signage and menus are in Chinese and English. The resort does cater to families so be prepared for lots of little ones. That said, it did not affect our adult get away. There are lots of areas and activities that cater to families which allows adults to get away and enjoy quiet areas. It is a beautiful resort in a peaceful, scenic location. Definitely a “yes” if you find yourself in this beautiful corner of the world.

We loved our stay here - it’s the second time.
From the location on the sea to the staff and food everything is fantastic.
The rooms on one side of the hotel have been renovated and are better than the other.
The staff here are very helpful and leave nothing to be desired.
The food in the restaurants is really good - especially Pearl, serving Chinese food.
There are shops and an ice cream kiosk.
The beach is wonderful with life guards at both the pool and beach.
It’s the best kept secret. Go there you’ll love it.

We loved it. The place is gorgeous, the restaurants are top notch. The staff is, as you’d expect at a RItz-Carlton, readily available and anticipating your needs to the best of their abilities. The Ritz Kidz area for children is well sized and full of fun for the little ones. Overall we loved it. The one thing when considering location is their beach access is not the best among hotels, a bit steep and removed from the beach sitting arrangements, but we still enjoyed it.

Hotel staff were very professional and responsive. They showed great care and concern when my son fell sick on one day. The waitress (Mona) at Sofia restaurant offered us her incredible service over dinner that evening in particular. The room (garden view) is very spacious and clean with great facilities to add cosines and comfort.

My partner and I stayed here for two 6 nights in a Garden Room Villa. Both the exterior and interior of the hotel harks back to traditional elements of Chinese architecture (think timber, symmetrical layouts, upturned roofs, etc.) and it is seen throughout the entire resort, including the Garden Villa. Tucked away from the rest of the resort in a secluded cul-de-sac, the Garden Villa is incredibly private, and set against (as the name would suggest) lush green gardens and forestry. Make sure you take it all in as you walk, or more preferably; use the complimentary golf cart service available to Villa guests only. The Villa itself was extremely spacious, including a generously sized walk-in wardrobe, an unbelievably grand and sumptuous bathroom with all the luxurious trimmings, and a bedroom only fit for a king and queen (and this includes the lavish bed and linen). The Villa then opens up to a large deck, showcasing the outdoor pool, pergola set above a seating area, and of course, the garden with hibiscus and an array of fauna growing. The outdoor area sets the perfect scene for a days (rain or shine) swimming, reading, and a glass or two of champagne as you let any sense of worry completely melt away. As I mentioned above, the service at the Ritz Carlton is truly next to nothing. Staff taking the ‘extra’ step is completely the norm, and ‘going over and beyond’ seems to be standard here, and this level of service was echoed throughout our entire stay. This was exemp

This hotel has the beach next to it and you can walk along it and whilst we were there it as really empty. We stayed two nights and it was great for us just to swim and relax since there is not much to do nearby.We were there for our 15th wedding anniversary and the staff made us very welcome on the first day e.g. wine, chocolates, bouquet of flower, BBQ table away from the main seating; all in all a wonderful hotel with excellent staff all round. We would happily return one day with friends!

We stayed in a room with an ocean view. The hotel has convenient assesses to a beautiful beach. Room is spacious but the furnishing and the bathroom were a bit dated. Friendly service.

Our paid reserved ocean-front suite was sold out and told to change to a garden view room, totally down grade our booking! That couldn’t been accepted by this bad service! We waited more than one hour in reception to request our booked suite, after complaint again and again, finally sorted out by catching a passing by white management staff, requesting to report to manager. Finally our suite been allot to us but such exhorting and disappointed. We can’t believe such high level hotel cheat customer in such dirty method.
How we believe Hotels. Com can protect our consumer ? How can we continue to use this website to book hotel? We have used hotels.com for many many years, please give us a response to this bad experience.

Every single staff was friendly and helpful, which I don’t find in any other 5 star hotels in Yalong Bay. The entire staying I felt I was in a resort in the US. The hotel was built in 2008, it's a little old in general but the landscape is still the best.

We had a fantastic time at the Ritz in Sanya. It was such an easy getaway from Hong Kong. We wnjoyed every aspect of our stay.
First, the staff is super attentive. From Shelly at Check-in to Freddie, the Manager. Anna in the restaurant and Lilly at the fabulous spa just to name a few of the great hotel staff.
The hotel grounds are amazing. Beautifully landscaped, right on the ocean which was clean with a lovely beach. A bit too cold to swim in Feb so we went to the pools, there are 4, all very nice. We were traveling with our 4 year old and the kids center and pool were amazing. This is a very easy hotel if you have a child, there are many things to do but it's also beautiful and elegant.
The breakfast was wonderful. Huge selection of Asian and western foods. Fresh coconut juice every morning. Dumplings, scrambled eggs, many tropical fruits, everything you could want.
We really enjoyed having an afternoon tea or glass of wine on the terrace. This hotel has a lot of open architecture so its very enjoyable to just walk around or sit on the terrace overlooking thr garden.
I had a wonderful 3 hour spa treatment with Lilly. One of the best massage packages I have had at a hotel; facial, exfoliation, massage and I really liked the spa products.
Overall, excellent stay. Yalong Bay is beautiful.

While the hotel was very clean in some respects, a few things were not as clean as it should have been. The main pool had some sand in it as people would not wash their feet after coming from the beach. The poolside bathroom should be cleaned more regularly. Other than that the hotel was divine. Staff were especially amazing. Special thanks to Doma and Kabita from Housekeeping, Mover, Will and Arjun at Cube, Jero and Jenny at The Spa and Sandy, Narayan and Tom the Chef at Sofia. They made our short trip so much more memorable.

Beautiful grounds, great pool/beach, and very good restaurants. Everything you need in one spot.

We stayed six nights in Ritz Carlton Sanya. We really love this place. Room is great! Staff are extremely friendly. They observed that my toddler likes chocolate ice-cream and mango juice. They gave him free chocolate ice-cream and mango juice during our last day, which was a surprise to us. My husband and I went for a long walk. When we came back, Ritz Carlton staff immediately gave us two bottles of water without we asking. The food is also amazing! I recommend this hotel without any hesitation.

It was great. But there is a construction site in front of our balcony.

I travel a lot, often to places places like Bora Bora, Maldives, Phuket, Bali, Caribbean, Hawaii, etc. The Ritz Carlton Sanya is a solid, high quality hotel. The beach itself was amazing and was surprisingly gorgeous especially for China. The hotel is more for family and is on the very large size. The pool is excellent. The food is pretty good, the Chinese restaurant is excellent though. The hotel staff is pretty good. I think the Mandarin Oriental Sanya is better, but here the beach is more beautiful and the availability of water sports is a big plus. Overall, solid hotel and great place to stay in Sanya for a good getaway.
