The resort was beautiful and we had a fantastic time and I was very excited to go back until I realized that the gift card that has been left to my room had been done so through a complete breach of my privacy.
My partners relative had contacted the resort to leave a gift certificate on our room - except the room was only in my name and he didn’t have that information. Whoever he spoke to at the hotel provided him with my full name! While his gesture was sweet and well intended, he doesn’t know me (we’ve never met) and you as a hotel don’t know me or the situation. This man could have been anyone. I don’t appreciate at all knowing that someone could call a hotel and get my personal details - to say I feel violated is an understatement.
This trip was our first time away together and I had done extensive research on the area to make it extra special before settling on your resort, so the disappointment is astronomical to say the least.

Great and polite check in. Room was spectacular and certainly made our stay enjoyable

They kindly moved us to another room as the room we were assigned had not been renovated and did not have a heat pump. The views were amazing for storm watching and the suites huge. The resort is right on the Wild Pacific trail which was perfect for a scenic hike.

We stayed in the newly renovated trail one bedroom and loved our stay. It was the perfect mix of cabin vibes with rural luxury. Make sure to get a cookie from the front desk, they are made in house.

Great location and lovely rooms. Breakfast on the last day was incredibly disappointing, with waiting over 40 minutes for our food and a very poor attitude from wait staff. Spoiled a very nice trip for us.

We arrived and checked in and made mention of a 50th birthday as our reason for the Uclulet trip. We had already reserved for dinner at currents restaurant, and we had said it was for a 50th birthday dinner also. I understand that they probably get lots of birthday celebrations, but a 50 is a pretty special one.
Two years ago we went to the Oak Bay Beach Hotel in Victoria for a birthday getaway. They outdid themselves with all the fun extras they surprised us with in our suite for 48th birthday!
Just disappointing to have no extra effort made.
And also, the toilet paper sheets (not a roll) in our suite bathroom were so small and barely usable. In fact I would describe them as awkward ☹️

Lots of good bits: kitchenette, roll top bath, super king bed, restaurant meals views. Some not so good bits: room too hot, broken fridge, broken electrical socket for lights, 2 tea bags for a 3 night stay, ultra stiff switch on rain shower, making it impossible to use. Overall a good experience, but the glitches were an irritation.

The room was newly renovated and nice with minor remarks. The amenities were pretty bad, the gym was stuffed into a dark corner with very little space to feel any comfort, the outside hot tubs which are a major draw for guests are TINY (4 guests per tub max), very shallow and barely usable. The lower level one is extremely HOT, so you can not be in it for longer than 5 min and you're in it only from the waist down as it is very shallow, also your eyes start burning from excessive use of chlorine. The upper one is bit deeper, has normal heat and chlorine levels but the two days we used it, it had a lot of suspicious foam floating in it. Overall it felt like no one had put any thought into the amenities to provide a pleasant guest experience!
During check-in the person was selective with who to be nice. The people in front of us got a friendly and welcoming attitude, even fresh cookies offered. When it was our turn things immediately shifted to a very cold vibe. We all felt like second class people from how the agent interacted during check-in, almost being annoyed we came.
The same evening we contacted the front desk to ask for new batteries for the in-suite vault, those never came. Also we had put a special request while booking that apparently was never send to the hotel. Overall, bad service for a 4-star resort.

I had a wonderful stay. The place was such a vibe, the staff were incredibly accommodating, the studio room is best. The view… extraordinary!
Will stay again. Just be prepared for mosquitoes; make sure you keep your windows and patio doors shut, you’ll be fine- the hotel has bug repellent.

Needed instructions on use of: showers, water settings based on new fixtures, bed making made it difficult to bring covers up to shoulders, some table tops needed dusting as well as kitchen floor was sticky in spots.
Overall unit was lovely, views spectacular.Staff were welcoming and gracious.

We had a one bedroom lodge room that looked out onto greenery. We were told that renovations had started but we were never impacted and our room was in good repair and well appointed. We didn’t miss a water view as we were only in our room to sleep or returning late from a day out enjoying the area. If I knew I would be in the room more during daylight hours, I would want the water view. Restaurant and bar were both enjoyable.
Parking in close proximity to your room may be the one drawback.

I was expecting a pool, rather than just the outdoor plunge pool, but this was nice to use with the hot tubs. I would have appreciated more privacy in this area, which was overlooked by many rooms, and especially with a load of workmen between the pool and the changing rooms. They had also trekked dirt all through the lobby and gym. The gym has no privacy either, being on the way to the changing rooms.
Our bedroom was very nice but the noisy fridge and bathroom extractor fan which came to life on its own at 2:30am meant we had a very disturbed nights sleep.
Food was excellent but pricey. Staff all very helpful, polite, friendly, professional.

A great retreat before the start of school. Beautiful sunny weather and gorgeous views of the pacific. The pool area could use an upgrade and cleaning but otherwise the property was amazing.

Tv remote needs to held in a particular spot to use it.

Property is nicely located by the water around the Wild Pacific Trail. It was rainy during our entire 3 nights stay but we felt comfortable. Close driving distance to Ucluelet’s town centre, and short drive to Tofino.
The only negatives are: hard to find parking at night and spa was fully-book. Would definitely stay again!!!

The resort was a peaceful relaxing time for our honeymoon. They had excellwnt service friendly staff. They went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed by uograding our room as well. The food at the restuarant is delicious and the hot tub and spa are must go places for any guest!

No air conditioner, so had to have doors open for anyone to let themselves into your room. TV in bedroom never got to work after asked for 3 days to get fixed, never got fixed. No room service or refil to towels etc.
Blind from bathroom to bedroom missing, so can see everyone using bathroom and every time you turn the light on in the bathroom at night, it lights up the whole bedroom, and it wakes you up. This never ever got fixed, they ended up putting a white sheet over so you couldn’t see through however it did nothing for the light when it turned on in the middle of the night. It still woke you up from the light.
Sofa bed was broken, someone came to fix it, and they threw all our bedding on the dirty carpeted floor and left it there so we got back late and had to use the dirty bedding that was sitting on the dirty carpet.
Checked out this morning I was told I would get a receipt by email as they couldn’t print it and I’m still waiting for that for my room service bill.
Probably wouldnt suggest to stay here as a just woman with the doors open annd not secure.
And on the last night, the bedroom door to the outside patio at midnight just fell out so couldn’t close and was open all night. 2 very small hot tubs that if you squeeze in, you could get seven people very very small.
Hotel views and Staff were very friendly, and quite frustrated that nothing in our room fixed, don’t think the maintenance department knows what they’re doing as above was never ever fixed.

Probably one of the best hotel stays I've had in terms of location, room, and amenities all in one. Wish I could have stayed for longer

Stay there every year on our annual fishing trip. This year the service failed to meet expectations. We arrived early for check-in and were advised Guest Services would text when the room was ready -- text never received. When I got to my room. the fold out couch was already down and was unable to fold it up. Called for service which never arrived. Had to go to the front desk. Service personnel advised the sofa-bed was broken. I think it goes without saying the resort should not rent a room when something is not in working order. Despite frustrations, we will return next year.

The room is well prepared and cozy. The pool is small and not heated. Our bath tub has no hot water. But overall, we had a great stay.

Family loved the hike down to the beach area. The staff was great and my daughters said the pull out couch was the most comfortable one they have ever slept on. Highly recommend and will stay there again.

Exceptional hotel in a beautiful location with views of the ocean. Rooms have induction plate, microwave/convection oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, washer and dryer, and balcony. Dining room serves great food, but is expensive.

Disappointed in our stay. We were there for three nights and received no housekeeping. There were no bathrobes in our room, but we were told on checkout that there should have been. The time that we use the pool, there was no towels, and when we went to the desk, there was none available there either The restaurants closed early and there was nothing on site to eat late at night. We were coming for our honeymoon and made the hotel well aware. There was no mentioning or congratulations or amenity in our room to celebrate the occasion even though we had told them on multiple occasions.

Lovely large comfortable room with views over the sea. Excellent facilities which we didn’t have time to utilise. As well as hotel restaurants good restaurants within easy walking distance. Easy access to long walking trail along the coast line.

No air conditioning in room, it was 24/25 degrees constantly. Made for a crappy sleep. On check in I had a note from front desk about a F&B credit, I had to ask about it at checkout in order for it to be applied. This should be automatic.

My wife and I have traveled to many places and hotels.
I would say that the Black Rock Resort is in my top 3 best places I’ve ever stayed at.
Absolutely stunning hotel.
