Such a hidden gem, definitely going back there soon!! Andrea was very nice and attentive. The place is just spectacular, and the rooms are extremely clean and tidy. No words to describe it, beyond thankful for the hospitality.

We had a lovely stay and dinner at Chesa Spuondas - we highly recommend as we travelled as a group of 5 adults.

Wonderful location and building and service

The property is great-it’s really just the town and the prices. So overpriced and just not that great compared to a ton of other places you could go. We had dinner by the water-over $200 and my son got a burger and fries and my daughter got tomato soup. It’s really crazy. Very sterile looking. However, this hotel was quaint and cute and the complete opposite of the town but it was almost $400 a night and the four of us were in one room on twin beds. The breakfast is really good and it is included and the view is just beautiful!

Such a beautiful unique hotel, it felt so special & a beautiful quiet location. Highly recommended.

Very ideal place for a quiet and restful holiday. Away from the bustle of St Moritz. The hotel is not far from the telecabines that take you to Suvretta, or Corviglia and other skiing pistes. The management and staff are all very nice and helpful, typical Swiss hospitality. Would love to spend a few days here again.

Good service, great location for some brief hikes with the kids. Excellent English knowledge so kids could always communicate with the staff.

It felt as if we were staying in a glorified hostel. We had to carry our own bags up several flights of stairs.

A way to experience the Engadine in timeless fashion. The view is unbeatable and the local area very peaceful. It's an ideal base for exploring the valley. A roaring fireplace, sun streaming in the South-facing windows, and the odd creaky floorboard are exactly what we wanted for Spring in the mountains.

A beautiful hotel. It was clearly once the residence of a wealthy person. The architectural details and the furnishings were beautiful. The views from the dining room, library, and salon, though, are what are most memorable about this hotel. Breakfast was sumptuous (included in the nightly rate) and dinner - a predetermined 3-course meal, was delicious and more than reasonable at only 25 Swiss Francs per person. The staff was very accommodating. We had our room changed from one on the second floor to one on the first because one member of our party had trouble walking up stairs. They also gave us free passes to take cable cars to the top of a mountain with a magnificent view and a cafe and passes for public transportation along with maps and sound advice. I would definitely go back to this hotel! It's one of the most unique ones I've ever stayed at.

Nice hotel with friendly staff.

We were allowed to move from a very large room at the back of the building, which we had booked, to a slightly smaller one at the front with a balcony overlooking the mountains. Despite the inconvenience of not having en-suite bathroom but across the corridor, it's the best thing we did. Truly superb views down to the lake, great antique decor, really quiet and wonderful in every way. And free bikes to go for a ride along the lake. The breakfast wasn't great in terms of variety but good enough, and the cheese selection was actually the best we'd had so far. Would definitely return.

Love this vintage hotel with its period renovations and modern bathrooms. So much so, we stayed another night. Food is fabulous and reasonably priced. Great accommodations for children.

There were two main highlights that have inspired me to write a review.Firstly, the property is beautifully situated with unobstructed views down the Engadine Valley. It is quiet and peaceful, and the valley floor unfolds at your feet. It really is a special sight to have from the breakfast table.Secondly, in the salon there is a magnificent fireplace. In the morning we would pull up two chairs, light our own fire, and have a pot of coffee to the crackle of another log going on. Similarly, after dinner we would grab a bottle of wine from the kitchen (help yourself and mark down what you take) and spend an hour or two winding down the night in front of the dying embers.Chesa Spuondas is true Engadine atmosphere; the architecture of the house, the immediate valley surroundings and the friendly people that host you there.

Absolutely not a close-to-station hotel. We arrived with backpacks, no rental cars, taking bus from main station would need nearly 10 mins. After taking off the bus, need to take an uphill slope for around another 15 minutes. If you are going by rental cars, this is a quiet lodge with a stunning mountain view.
We arrived around 6:30pm with just a bite of sandwich. After finding out there is no other dining place nearby, we decided to sleep with an empty tummy. However, the dining area in the hotel is open, and everybody is having dinner together. The staff told us they just stared the dinner and could ask the kitchen if it's enough food for us to dine together. The answer is YES. We then had a great and wonderful 3-course dinner with everybody in the lodge, an absolutely enjoyable dinner afterwards. The price is really reasonable for dinner, CHF 35 pp + wine. This is such a wonderful and surprise dining experience for us.
The staff are so helpful and nice. They tried to explain the history of the hotel, every single common area, how we can go back to station, in English to us. Thanks so much for the great night!

Good family hotel. The staff were lovely and helpful.

Absolutely loved the hotel, the views from our room and dining room. wonderful dinner over looking the alps. Just outside the hotel is a lovely walk to a lake and neighboring village. too far to walk to St. Moritz, but nice to be out of the tourist area. so beautiful. You need to plan on a cab from the train station both ways. there is a bus, but it wasn't running when we were ther.

It was a pleasant stay. I enjoyed it.

We stayed 3 nights enjoying the pre-dinner drinks and home-made hot sausage rolls. This was complimentary. Lovely atmosphere welcoming families with young children and a group of 10 women, well catered for in the dining room with a few large oval dining tables. Views are amazing to the lake. Sqirrels in trees. Walk down the path to the local bus stop takes 10 minutes. There are 2 bus routes Bus 2 or Bus 5. A special place to visit in Switzerland. Excellent dinner for 35 CHF each (swiss franks). We were given a St Moritz Card from the manager and it entitled us to use public transport, ride cable cars etc. We handed it back at the end of our stay. It saved us the equivalent of one nights accommodation.

Amazing place, wonderful people running it. Beside the 30 franc taxi to get there, the place was perfect.

a bit out of st mortiz but quiet location great views and friendly staff they suggested the pizzeria down the road really good pizza huge portions . would stay again next time longer for skiing.

we stayed at the hotel just to spend overnight to take the glacier express next morning. we arrived late (abt 600pm). because the hotel location is abt CHF20 away (we paid CHF30 on the way out - my suspicion is the cab driver applied a different tariff), we decided to dine in.
upon arrival we were met by the reception and on the inner door we were greeted with a note welcoming us (yer they took the pain of writing my name) and describing where our room was.
the hotel has no restaurant that takes ala carte order so dinner must be pre-arranged. by right they need not provide the service but they were very accommodating. what's more, they accommodated to our meat-free and spirit-free diet despite the menu of the day being ham and wine selections. we were also pleasantly surprised they even catered for our 3-year old daughter, preparing smaller portions and even things not on our menu - they even served her! that was absolutely fantabulous! (i have to coin this word specially to describe this).
i had to take an early morning cab the next day and they arranged this for us, even offering an early breakfast just for us, so much so we had to decline for fear that we could be late (typical of parents with children) and waste their effort.
the hotel general ambience is very cosy and i would describe it as family-friendly. i cannot write any more as our stay was very short and we could not explore the facilities.
the location is not as accessible for those who have to lug their luggage as the bus stop is about 10 minutes away (uphill on way up as hotel is perched on slope).
the dining room had 2 sections - the main in-room dining and another by the window with mountain view which was where we were seated. the manager (maybe she's the owner) came round at course breaks to ask if all was alright - great!
room-wise; ours was on the lower level non-ensuite. however, we were given exclusive bathroom with key to prevent others from using - just right across the corridor.
nothing fantastic abt the room but it was clean and well kept - twin bed and a lilttle one for my daughter (even tho we said we do not need extra bed they provided this without charge). they provided tea/coffee making facilities and a pack of swiss cookies (yummie).
Friendly, Welcoming & Accommodating - that's how we would summarise our experience.
