Hotel is very outdated. The room amenities advertised when we booked were not in the room that we got on arrival. The manager and I agreed that I booked the “same” room but that the room did not come with what was offered in the description despite having a screenshot of my booking.

The owner was so friendly and accommodating! We needed to leave a day early due to storms headed our way and he was happy to refund us our last night. All staff was friendly and brought us towels daily! The front office has everything you need should you run short, and a kiosk in case you lock yourself out of your room and need a new room key (my husband found that useful when he locked himself out in the middle of the night). Overall a wonderful stay and right on the beach and next door to the fishing pier (which has 2 restaurants on it).

The Colonial Inn is an older hote,l but it was clean. The office worker was very polite a our check-in/out. Employees were always busy cleaning and working on the grounds. No one came into the room to change towels, however, everyday there werecfresh towels outside your door in a bag. The room was without carpet which was very nice since the hotel had steps that led to the beach, which was great. Our room was supplied with a broom and dustpan so the sand from beach could be swept. Even though it was an older hotel, I would stay again.

I am glad I was solo because I'd been embarrassed to show anyone else what I had reserved. It is very old and very basic. The walls are paper thin. I could almost hear people breathing, that's how thin the walls were. It is dog friendly, so you can hear them bark from inside your room.

The location of this hotel is great. You’re really just paying to be walking distance to the beach because the rooms are not worth the price.The condition of the property is poor but being so close to the beach it’s probably difficult to maintain. We had a two bedroom apartment but the wall separating the two rooms was extremely thin. I specifically asked for a quiet room and was given the opposite. Our bedrooms in room 122 overlooked the street and dumpsters. The garbage trucks dumped the dumpsters every other day at 4:45am and was horribly loud. That room is also by the stairs and pool so people we had to keep the curtains closed at all times. Think John Candy’s house in “Summer Rental”. The bathroom needed a deep cleaning and the whole property felt dingy. I did not complain to the front office because we were all settled in and nobody wanted to ask to move. We had plenty of towels, the refrigerator is huge and has a nice big freezer. The pool was great and the location is fantastic. We chose this property for the price, the two bedrooms, and it being dog friendly. Even though there is a lot of foot traffic with the pier next door I never felt unsafe even when taking the dog out alone after dark.

Deplorable conditions of hotel, outlets didn’t work, no smoke alarm just bare wires hanging, floor was disgusting and soft and squishy, walls were cracked and squishy. Sewer flies on the walls in the bathroom, windows were filled with inch thick dirt. Crickets cough between window and screen…..just don’t stay there, the building should be condemned…oh and it smelled like must moldy yuck!

Room did not look like the pictures. Walls separating at seams and the ceiling. AC united rusty and dirty. Room musky smelling. Left second day for another hotel. Manager didn't even ask way just took key and said "bye" Don't waste money on ocean front. There is no view.

Convenient location right on the beach, and an easy walk to many Nags Head locations. Nothing fancy, but that’s not what you come here for. This place delivers on what they should; a good and clean room, working shower at the beach access, and a nice pool for off the red flags are out. If you’re looking for a nice spot right on the water, and one that doesn’t cost a fortune, this is it.

We liked that there was an efficiency room with space for 5 at an affordable rate. The room was very well cleaned and prepared for our stay. The staff was very friendly. The parking is very compact. If you have a large vehicle it will be difficult to park if they are full. The manager was kind enough to give me his spot out front since I have a large truck. I would stay again.

It was great. I went with my wife kids and parents. The suite was amazing. It had 2 bedrooms with a TV each, a living room with another tv and a fully working kitchen with all appliances. The hotel is in front of the beach and has a deck from where you can watch the sunrise and beach itself. It also has a Pier right next to it. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We came to stay for two nights for a music festival in Manteo. When we got there the room smelled strongly of cleaning products however the floors looked like they hadn’t been mopped in ages. One singular wall AC unit made one room freezing while the other room was mildly cool. They did provide two fans in our room which we were thankful for and tried to set them up to pull the AC air into the room without the unit. Lots of smokers outside almost every door making my family walk through their smoke every time we came and went. No sponge to wash dishes but had at least 20 towels for a two night stay. Staff was friendly the couple of times we interacted with them.

It was a fine for the price. My only complaint was that there were a lot of smokers always contaminating the air directly outside their hotel rooms, so our family would have to suck in the smoke on the way to our room. Not sure the motel can do anything about that. Again, the motel was adequate for the price and my teens loved the pool!

Parking totally sucks. People from the north need to learn to park in front of their rooms. Southerners already know if its a ground floor room, the spot in front of it is for that room. Other than that, it's adequate for a week of fishing. Easy access to a pier and the beach. Some folks staying there definitely like their weed but everyone was nice. Easy walk to food and entertainment.

This property wasn’t terrible - we knew going in that for what we paid, we shouldn’t expect much. For the price, I’d say it was good. You check in with a kiosk, which wasn’t a problem. The lobby is clean, the attendant on the kiosk was friendly & knowledgeable. We found our room, & immediately parked because parking is definitely tight. We had a ground floor 1 bedroom apartment, & were able to park directly in front. The room was clean (except the floor needed a good wash). The decor & furnishings are tired, & could use an update. It’s obvious they do a lot of “band-aid” repairs. Although the giant picture window is nice, it offers zero privacy - they could add some sheers so that you can still filter in light & have some privacy. The kitchenette was nice to have but utensils looked a little worn & somewhat dirty. The only other dirty thing I noticed was the sink - it seems cleaners don’t get the edges of the drains/faucets/sink edges - I did have to clean those with the Lysol wipes we carry with us. The manager & housekeeping were there all day each day, cleaning, & working hard. Oceanfront rooms don’t have a view due to the dunes, so I’d say don’t pay extra for that. But we loved being able to walk right out to the beach. I’d suggest a smoking area for those who do so. My family was in the apartment by the pool, & had their neighbor sitting outside her room smoking all day - in front of their door. So they had to walk through that & also smell it inside their room.
