Check in went well. No morning room cleaning or towel exchange, had to call for at least towel exchange when we got back. Lots of construction, which was not disclosed when booking. Would not have booked due to strong smells and dust.

Worn furniture, broken towel rack, tv didn’t work. Bed was comfortable, room was clean. AC worked fine. Quiet room. Building was being renovated. Property in front had been demolished and entry was unclear.

My family and I were in town for a softball tournament. Upon initial check-in we were given our room key. We open the door to the room and there were paint cans and other materials everywhere. I called the front desk and she was ever accommodating by placing us in another room. The room was clean for the most part. However, the curtains had dark stains on them, the light fixtures in the bathroom were rusted, and there was a bug on one of the beds. Not an awful hotel, but I won’t be staying at this location again.

We were here for 3 days for church and will say that this was the cleanist hotel we have stayed at in the last 10 years coming to Alexandria! I usually bring cleaning products with us to clean our room once we check in and to my surprise when i cleaned the floors they were actually CLEAN! The staff was very friendly and professional as well!

Absolutely terrible could not check in customer service was terrible, was not even able to check in saying they haven’t been paid well I paid and after a conversation with hotels.com and a them speaking with hotel I was moved to holiday inn express Terrible service on the hotels end!!

We booked this room at the Candlewood Suites, IHG property, in Alexandria, LA, through Expedia. On Expedia, it said it was "pet-friendly", this is what I was searching. Upon check-in, they inform me that there is a $100 pet fee! Really, not posted on the website, "we're under IHG management now", is the explanation. We have stayed in pet-friendly hotels before, way nicer than this one, and have never paid a $100 pet fee; it's always been $25-$45. I refused to sign whatever paperwork they wanted for the pet, never read it, but does it even matter, no! Upon check out, they had to get the manager, flagged my room, still being charged the $100 fee. I asked, does it matter what size dog, mine if <10 lbs, doesn't matter what size dog. Does it matter if it sheds, mine does not shed, no, it doesn't matter. I should have taken all my dogs, the little one and the 2 big dogs that do shed., and are outside dogs. It's ridiculous how this is not explained at time of reservation. If it would not have been so late at night, I would have cancelled the room. I will NEVER book through Expedia again, or book at a IHG managed hotel. I'll go through the actual website of the hotel. As far as cleanliness, it was clean, but outdated and old. The light in the bathroom had lots of rust on it, so not sure if it's stays very humid in the rooms or if they previously had water issues. Also, the rooms still have carpet, from the pictures online, their rooms had flooring.

The front desk people were very nice. However, our toilet did not flush, the room had a terrible smell and we didn't realize it was in a very unsafe area for females traveling alone. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you were not leaving the hotel. Unfortunately no one addressed the toilet situation, but we only stayed one night.

The service is great. The building is old, despite upgrades. Our room remained so moist it curled the cover of a paperback book. We had two roaches (or water bugs). We asked housekeeping to come in and do a thorough cleaning because we still had two days left. They offered to move us upstairs but we had already stayed there several days and it was inconvenient to move.

The furniture was all scratched and in disrepair holes in wall with exposed wires the place had to changevour room and still the new room was terrible. I rate this place a 1 star and I will now stick with Hiltons

The reservation was for a room with 2 beds for myself and my 2 children. Upon checkin I was given a room with 1 queen bed because there were no more rooms available. Then at 5:15 AM someone else was attempting to enter my room with a key because they booked in the same room.

The only problem I had during my stay was that I was never told that I was entitled to a military discount as I am a 30 year veteran. My reason for my stay was I was attending the American Legion State convention (Louisiana). This was my first visit to Candlewood Suites. The woman that checked me and my wife in and also checked us out is a definite asset to your company, Her first name is Tesh. She is to be commended as she was very helpful and professional at all times.

They gave my room to someone after they checked me into the room already. So someone walked in my room and I had to ask them to leave. Then we had to go down and ask the front desk to reprogram our room keys. This place was dirty and out dated. The tile in the elevator was caulked to the floor. There were marks and scuffs on all the walls. We had two of the exact same tv remotes in our room and neither one worked. We called the front desk to help us with the tv remote and she said she would send someone right up. Then after waiting an hour we called back and the same woman said no maintenance would be available for the night and she could not leave the counter to come help us. She tried to give us technical support from the phone and then she apologized and let us go. The beds were spotless or I would have just left. The furniture was old and worn and I was so worried about how dirty it was that I didn't sit on it one time. The room was very poorly lit and the counters had spots on them like they had been wiped down with dirty water. The mirror in the bathroom was delaminating and the trim was partly missing around the mirror. There was no soap to wash your hands with so we just used the bodywash we brought with us to wash our hands. Then the next morning the coffee machine downstairs was broke also. We gladly just left and got coffee elsewhere. Next time we will just pay the few extra dollars and stay at the Holiday Inn that shares a parking lot with this motel.

We booked our stay through Expedia. When we arrived at our hotel we were told that they were over booked and they were caceling our resevation. I was told to call expedia...couldnt talk to a real person. The only information i got was if the resevation was cancelled it was nonrefundable. I will never use Expedia again and will tell everyone i know the same!

I booked this hotel early to get the good savings. I had 3 people in my family and therefore booked a room with 2 double beds. Upon arriving I find out that they decided to give my room to someone else so that they could make more money off of it with the softball tournament in town- hotels love to price gouge families when they find out about the tournaments- anyway without an email, call, text or any early warning of the change we arrive to find out that we have been given a room with 1 bed for 3 grown bodied people to sleep in( no couch either). Really!!! They didn't even care that they put us in this situation either. Very oh well, sorry not our problem you booked through third party( hotels.com) Well excuse me greedy people- whatever happened to honoring paid for contracts- you agree to work with these third parties, therefore you should honor them!!! I mean at the very least a heads up so we could prepare- they could care less that someone was gonna be sleeping on the floor!!! Also, if I had booked this room with one bed I would have paid less, but you think they let me have the room I got stuck with at the lower rate- NOPE! Kept my original payment for the 2 bedroom!!! Sorry greedy business people!!! I will not stay here again!!!😡😡😡😡 We weren't the only family this happened to either!!!

First impression upon driving up to the front door, was gsrbage cans were overflowing & trash littwred the entrance. Staff was nice. Check in was fast no issues, the rest of the experience was not good. The hall carpets are worn & dirty. The place has an odor. Our room was dirty. Long hair & whiskers were all over the bathroom. Mildew in shower, something terribly sticky on hars floor surfaces. Stainage on one of the comforters. By the time we got there we had been in the car for 12 hrs. It was later in the evening, we were exhausted and were traveling with a toddler, so we just stayed the one night, & decised never to stay again. I do not recommend this hotel.

There was no iron in the room. Someone from the front desk called for Someone to bring me 1. When it waa brought, It seemed to have been in use because it was warm. Plugged it up, stream was coming out, i preceeded to iron my black jeans and yet behold brown stains was on my pants due to it was in use before given to me. Also the bathroom floor wasn't mopped and have pictures of that as well.

The hotel need TLC! The parking lot had non working vehicles as you could tell cars not moved in a while covered with spider webbs. Entrance not clean. Elevator dirty. Display of lots of rust from dresser handles, light fixtures, and drawer handles.

So I got charged when I checked in and again for the same amount a day later and they swore up and down they only charged me for one night until I showed them my bank statement the reversed only half of the extra charge and still charged me for a extra night that I didn’t book or stay management was no help at all I have stayed here many time and have not experienced the problems I’ve experienced the last two time I’ve stayed

The Night clerk gave me the wrong room key as I went to the room to and swiped the key card opened the door and to my surprise someone else was in that room so need a little better communication between shifts
