Very warm hearted personalised service from all staff at the hotel, from the driver to porter and the reception. Had such a great sleep after soaking in the in room hot spring and lying on the smooth luxurious bed.
4.0 / 10.0
Staff are very polite and friendly. Hotel is a small premises. Hot spring is real natural spring water, rather than other hotels around using hot water from boiler, Or adding spring water powder to tap water.
Room size is Ok if you choose the deluxe room. Food not fit out stomach, a little salty, although the chef had creative ideas on it.
Cake & bread are delicious. All staffs in hotel are excellent service.

I can't believe it's a five-star hotel. I can hear the words clearly in the hallway from the room. It's not soundproofed at all. And as soon as you open the door, you encounter a bed. It's below the level of deluxe rooms in a five-star hotel. The lights on the air controller disturb the sleep. Maybe it's because of hotel policy, but there was no amenities, such as toothbrush, at all. It was the most expensive of the three hotels I stayed in on this trip to Taiwan, but the facilities were the cheapest. Even considering the availability of hot springs, the hotel's facilities were way short for the price. But the staff are kind. The hot spring is good.

This property suffers terribly from over marketing that can only lead to disappointment in the customer. The ‘library’ is no better than your deceased aunt’s mouldy paperbacks along with lots of fake pale blue books. The view of jungle is only if you have the most expensive room in the hotel. The area is downmarket. The hotel is not all white and posh but at best like an airport hotel - with worse nylon carpets and cheap floors. Having said that, the staff were trying so so hard to appease the disillusioned westerners - so hard that I feel bad writing this review…but actually this is a very average and over priced hotel.

I had a great time at the Gaia! The public onsen is very relaxing and serene, the facilities are clean and the room is comfortable and modern. Housekeeping leaves snacks and fruit for free in your room every day in addition to the free drinks in the mini fridge. Staff is also very polite and friendly. It’s a great place to stay while exploring the wonderful Beitou neighborhood and the nearby Yanmingshan National Park.

The staff are always with a smile. I must give the security guard credit. He is very helpful. With my limited Chinese, he helped me to explain to the driver(s) where I wanted to go. We also enjoyed an unexpected guest. When we sat beside the window for breakfast, we saw a turtle outside looking at us. It belonged to the hotel. We really had a good time.

Not good: The room is small and the in-room hot spa is not big enough. The location is a bit far away from the nearest city center.
Good: The room is clean and tidy. Restaurants in the hotel are good (both food and service are excellent). Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel public hot spa is good.

I stayed one night at Gaia at the end of March. It was really such a wonderful and relaxing experience. I had a facial and massage at the spa, and the service was so warm and personal, with charming tea and cookies. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had a lot of variety, plus espresso drinks, dinner at the Italian restaurant was impeccable, with tasty wine. The water massage pool was larger than I expected, and the hot tubs were amazing! With dry and wet sauna, indoor and outdoor tubs of varying temperatures, and a nice lounge room for relaxing, the gender-separated hot spring areas really exceeded my expectations.
I was less impressed by the room itself -- it was modest in size and the window was small, making it feel dark and cave-like. However, the room did give a cozy and private retreat feel, which suited the resort well, so I would definitely still go back. I was also initially disappointed that the outdoor pool is closed from Jan-Mar, but the staff were so accommodating and helpful, and there were so many other water features, that I was ultimately super happy with my stay and very satisfied with everything. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway! I didn't even leave the hotel!

Nice hotel…Recommend the shuttle bus services in the weekday. The shelf of the bathroom can’t put the cell phone on because of the level.

The room is small but staff are helpful and nice. The public hot spring facilities are excellent. Restaurant options are very limited.

This is a lovely hotel situated at the top of a hill nestled in the Beitou district of Taipei. Here’s my review!
1. Customer service - THE BEST. Professional, polite, accommodating.
2. Room - this is where I did not understand the 5-star rating. It was fine, but, for example, the king-sized mattress was 2 twin beds set next to each other and the midline seam was totally obvious, especially because one of the mattresses was higher than the other. The windows were very small, both in the bathroom and bedroom, so it felt very confining and stifling.
3. Piacere - The included breakfast was stellar. The buffet selection was very diverse and they also provided an entree meal. The quality of the food was excellent and, of course, the service was amazing.
4. Hot spring - The public hot spring room was very clean, and beautiful. I only used the outdoor open air pool for a soak and it was so lovely. I used the in-room tub once as well, which was calming.
Overall I enjoyed the stay and hotel very much, but considering how much it cost, I felt there were a few details that could have been improved (e.g. the mattress)

All the staff are so attentive and excellent service. Very detail oriented hotel, with heated toilet seats, treats in the room, easy access to hot springs. Would highly recommend!

It’s a bit distance from the main MRT station but they offer shuttle bus every hour to and from the Beitou MRT station. It’s very close to the Thermal valley and the Hot spring museum (less than 4 minutes). The facilities were nice and the staffs were attentive and super friendly. I would recommend my friends to come here.

The hotel is on the hillside, walking distance to the town, shops and restaurants. Getting taxi back to hotel is very convenient and cheap. The hotel overall is very comfortable, pool and sauna were nice. We had total 6 of us and we booked for 3 rooms at USD250 each.
Yet, we found a living COCKROACH in one of our rooms, we called for help and a cleaning staff was sent to us and had the area cleaned and sanitised, that it. No apology, no further action. We later complained to the front desk and the staff did not seem to be surprised (?) and she tried to explain it’s because the hotel is near the hills(?!)…. still no apology. Later another staff called to our room at 11pm and tried to arrange us to change to another room (but not upgrade), and also gave us 3 bottles of USD10 wine, we respectfully declined because it’s near midnight already.
Finally an assistant manager sincerely apologised and gave us boxes of cinnamon rolls and discount for future booking as a token of apology during check out.
The hotel is very comfortable but needs more training on frontline staff and risk management.

All the staff I met in Gaia Hotel are very nice and helpful. I received a warm welcome when checking in and all services received are superb. I like the paintings showing in the hotel as well. I'm glad that I spent a relaxing and cozy night in Gaia before heading back home. I recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for smiling faces in your stay.

Private hot spring in our own room, with nice green view. Awesome staff! Food and service are memorable in the western restaurant. Walking distance to Beitou park, library and Beitou hot spring museum. Definitely will come back to try their water spa.

OK hotel for a short trip outside of city center. Book the Fenglin room with a mountain view according to website. Accidentally booked twin room which was remedied by hotel staff. Got inside room and had a small window facing the mountains which was nowhere near the bed. Also, bathroom window and bedroom window were immediately over some plastic/metal roof thing which was unattractive. Felt a bit cheated of this "mountain view" especially since I paid extra for it. Dinner was good and tasty. Overall service was good except for breakfast. My girlfriend ordered the scrambled eggs, but on 4 different and separate occasions, the waitress came by with someone else's order and asked if we ordered it, to which we said no, we ordered the eggs. There is no sense of organization for breakfast, which was also uneventful. Limited selection and the selection that was presented wasn't even good. However, swimming pool and private hot springs inside the room were good.
