This was a beautiful and comfortable stay. The breakfast served every morning was perfect. The staff were super friendly and Lilly makes the best hot chocolate we ever had.

Incredible place! We spent one night and we would defiantly come back again. The room was really nice and faced the harbour, and the staff was also very nice and friendly. Highly recommend!

Had a great time at this hotel! Beautiful, clean, and very friendly staff. The breakfast is top notch as well! The laundromat was out of service but they directed us to an alternative in town.
Would stay again

Tbh the best hotel in Akureyri. It is so contemporary and perfect.

The room was really tiny. The bathroom is to tiny that it’s impossible to even change inside. The shower can’t even bend down to wash legs.

This is a decently appointed albeit on the small side accommodation. We got stuck in Egilstaddir for a few hours with the closure of the Ring Road segment connecting to Akureyri. We pushed our Hotel Akureyri check in for a day thinking that we might have to spend another night in Egilstaddir. The hotel was very accommodating due to the circumstance. When the road opened back up, we rushed up the mountains and headed to Akureyri. We showed up after 7 PM and the owner (I believe it was) received us and changed our check in dates back to our original booking. No hassles. What great hospitality! The property is a short walk to town proper and within easy walkable access to restaurants. I strongly recommend Eyja and their delicious Nordic cuisine. I will stay at Hotel Akureyri when I’m back in these parts of Iceland. I will time it with their restaurant’s open days. It’s amazing that they grow their own veggies in one of the buildings close to the hotel. Very sustainable. I love that about the place. And the view of the bay is defunct a huge plus. It was refreshing waking up to the bay view as the rising sun clears through the fog. Very memorable mornings!!!

It would be helpful if you mention that I might get a room on 4th floor with no elevator

The check in and out was through computer and was easy. Hotel is located in a very convenient area for shopping/restaurants and the room had a great view of the bay. The bathroom was a little small but overall it was a great stay. I would stay there again.

Everything looked new. The contactless checkin was great. However, we needed more toilet paper and there was no way to talk to someone. They gave a phone number, but it went to a pre-recorded message. The shower was lukewarm at best. The restaurant served the BEST breakfast.

Nice boutique hotel close to everything in town! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very nice and it is close to everything. Parking was easy and free. I gave it a lower comfort rating as we were on the top floor and the room had a sloped ceiling. We kept hitting our heads. And the cover over the skylight wasn’t room darkening making harder to sleep.

Loved this hotel! Our view was right out onto the water and it was located a very short walk to city center. Ample free parking, easy contactless check-in, and adorable room. If we find ourselves in Akureyi again, we'll be staying here.

Lovely stop on the journey on route 1 around Iceland... great choice of restaurants and very central to walk downtown and the Botanical gardens.

Nice boutique hotel in a great location with friendly staff. Price was reasonable. Its a very short walk to the main area of downtown and right on the Ocean. View was great from our room, towards the ocean. Our room was quite small and so was the bathroom. But the room was clean and modern and bed was comfortable. The only downside in our case was the room was extremely hot, but it was "warm" in Akureyri that weekend (18-20°C). As there is little ventilation in the room and bathroom, taking a shower at night turned the room into a sauna so we didnt sleep very well.

Everyone was very nice and helpful. Our room was nice but the shower was really small and leaked onto the floor.

This hotel has the nicest staff we encountered on our ring road tour. From stellar and unique recommendations, to helping coordinate a car service, our stay was the epitome of hospitality. Though the rooms are small, the hotel is completely adorable and within a quick walking distance to everything in town. Yummy breakfast set us off for the rest of our drive.

Great location and just a couple minutes walk to plenty of restaurant/ cafe options. Reception staff was very helpful in recommending Rub23 restaurant for dinner and it was a convenient/ excellent recommendation on our first day in Akureyri.

Great location, nice rooms, good breakfast, very nice staff.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff were lovely. There's no lift but the stairs are really wide and the staff are more than happy to carry your bags if needed. The rooms were bijoux and the bed was the most comfortable we had stayed in, there was no noise that I noticed. The bathroom is small but fine (unless you're morbidly obese, in which case you might struggle), plus everything is clean. USB charging ports in room were an unexpected bonus. Great view and good breakfast. I'd stay again without hesitation!

If I had to be picky I would moan about the bottled soap in bathroom. But that is just me. Room was cleaned daily, staff friendly and offered suggestions. They held luggage for a few hours after I checked out, my flight was later in the afternoon.Variety of food at breakfast, coffee hot, I look forward to staying there again.

The Hotel Akureyri was the location of my first night in Iceland as I had taken a connecting flight from Reykjavik to Akureyri; it was an excellent first impression of the country and city! First of all, let me say how wonderful my room was! Located on the second floor, it had a beautiful view of the fjord out one window and of a nice treed area out of the other (I had a corner room). The bed was amazing and so welcome for a nap after travelling for 15 hours straight. A private bathroom and a t.v. were amenities that I really appreciated having for the start of my trip. The hotel itself was quaint and picturesque and well-located. It was a short 5 minute walk to the shops & restaurants of the tourist-area yet was far enough away to avoid the noise and commotion of tourists. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast which was served in a cozy breakfast room where the dishes we used were stored in an antique hutch. I not only had a delicious breakfast but great conversations too. I got a great tip on a map app that was invaluable later on in my trip. And finally, the staff...they were so great great! They not only arranged for a taxi to take me back to the airport for my day tour to the island of Grimsey but they also stored my luggage while I was off on my tour (even though I had already checked out). I would definitely stay at the Hotel Akureyri if my travels take me back there.

We spent one night here on a recent road trip around Iceland. After hearing all sorts of negative stuff about hotels in Iceland, we were pleasantly surprised. Staff was helpful, although not terribly warm (our experience in general in the country). We had a room on the top floor, which was totally charming. It had enormous windows, a skylight, and sloped ceilings. They had blackout blinds, in case you're visiting in the summer when it's light all the time. Beds were super-comfy, with very nice duvets. Breakfast was included, and it was quite good: delicious skyr (yogurt) parfaits, cold cuts, freshly boiled eggs, assorted pastries and bread, cereal, juice. Much better than the hotel where we stayed in Reykjavik, which has the same star rating. Location was also good -- right in the downtown area. Highly recommended! There's no elevator, if that's an issue for you. It wasn't for us.

While the room was rather small, it was clean and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They provided recommendations about things to do in the area and provided insights into the road conditions for the rest of our trip.
