I have stayed here multiple times. Anybody that knows the Oceana, KNOWS what it's all about. A certain type of person stays here and loves it. That would be me. "My people" have been running this hotel for years. And for some reason they bring in this rude indian guy to manage. The owners and him think that they can fix this place all the way up? LOL! Youll never be able to erase all of the overdoses, the drug use, the people just barely scraping by. This guy is so out of place, it's laughable! Plus, he is rude. He took all of our money because we accidenally booked a kitchenette instead of a queen with a kitchen. Why don't you just say that instead of take advantage of the people that have been keeping this place alive???
Not to mention, he pounds on the door and actually OPENED the door while I (female in my 20s) was inside. Because we PAID. And he insisted we didnt. So what did we have to do? Call someone to help us. Instead of just saying "Hey i think you booked the wrong room."
Customer service is TERRIBLE now. Was never like that before, believe it or not. And if this dude doesnt leave (unlike every manager before him), he'll be stressed off his gourd soon enough, I've seen it happen to every manager!
The guy and the girl (i wont mention names) have been here for a very long time. They KNOW how to take care of the place. What the owners did to them I think is VERY screwed. They want it to be one of the MANY rude indian-run hotels around here. At least it was unique.

This was the worst room I have ever had. I tried sleeping there due to a tight budget. Well I ended up sleeping in my car at 3 due to banging noises and being overall grossed out.

The staff and locals are very friendly and I had a nice stay overall. The rooms themselves don’t do the pictures justice. The rooms were clean but the furnishing is outdated and needs renovating. The room was musty and the bed as well. Seemed they house homeless folks and God bless them, but for the price I expected better then.

I booked for 3 nights stay. I arrived a little past 9pm and the office was closed. I only realized that office is open only until 9pm so I booked a night at a nearly hotel. The next day at 11am I went back to Oceana to check in. Thinking room should be ready since yesterday only to be told that even if I arrive yesterday, the room is no longer available as it was used to upgrade another person. I was told it will take them 10 mins to clean the room. I was fine but asked for the key so I can go and will just return at night to sleep since I have a schedule to follow. Night comes and the room was not cleaned yet, no beddings and very dirty. Good thing I came back at 8pm when office was still there. They put beddings quickly but when I look at the beddings, it has a lot of hair and not even washed. Good things I have beddings in my car and used it instead. I asked for a refund of my first night since it is not basically available and room was not ready until 8pm the next day. I havent heard back from them.

Overall this a very rundown property with trash around the buildings & extremely limited amenities. It's good for the budget cost this close to the water, but otherwise the hotel itself is all in need of some serious work.

We turned around and left without staying at this hotel. We got a refund for the $100 deposit we paid at the property, but still have not received a refund for our prepaid stay, even though the man at the front desk said we’d be refunded. The room was dirty, the toilet was clogged and didn’t flush, and the window blinds did not work.

At check in, we were given a key to a room “on the street”. There was a girl sitting on the curb outside of our door that appeared to be on drugs. The dead bolt was broken. The room smelled like smoke. The mini fridge was dirty. The microwave had a dirty sock in it. The window had no screen, it was laying on the ground outside of the window. The bathroom had no towels or soap. Due to not feeling safe or clean, we decided not to stay and asked for a refund.

This place needs to be shut down. I checked in and they didn’t have my room ready because the “maintenance” guy slept in the room and didn’t clean it as well. It’s dirty and looks very unsafe. I immediately asked for my refund but getting denied of course by the owner. We did get a room because a person said we can have his when he refused to stay too. I walked in the room and immediately walked out. The bed looked awful and the bathroom was filthy. I’m further escalating this and hope justice is done.

STAY AWAY! WORST PLACE EVER! NO TOWELS NO TP NO WIFI NO TV + NO WATER IN MY ROOM DESPITE ASKING & NO MANAGER ON SITE IN EVE!! THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN After waiting1.5 hours to check in after their 4pm time promised, I said because I prepaid. The blankets had cigarette holes in them and the room stunk. You cant imagine a worse place. I told manager I would write this if I wasn't partially refunded for the bad service and all they offered was a $15 refund - that's not even half of their so called "resort fee"

No towels, no soap, strange dude trying to come in my room at 1am.

The property only had 1 staff member, a hard working and patient younger man who was handling front office, housekeeping, and more.
Whoever owns this motel with several units failed to adequately staff the establishment.
Kudos to the solo young fellas for working tirelessly.

Wish I would have read the reviews before I stayed. This hotel should not even be operating. I felt so unsafe. The only redeeming quality was that the staff were very nice and accommodating.

The room was good enough for our purposes. The amount of available parking was very tight. The bed was really small for two people, and the mattress was kinda not too supportive. the person at the desk was very helpful.

The hotel is functional, but barebones so make sure you're bringing everything you need. It is walking distance to lots of shops so it's easy to stock up.
They may want to plug in the bedside lamps, the overhead lighting in a white brick room is not exactly romantic.

Place has a kitchen but nothing to cook with! No pots, pans, or utensils.
The bathroom had problems as well. No face towels, cups (to brush teeth), shampoo and soap. Also the TV didn't work

They never gave me my room deposit back even though they didn’t even have a room for me. They offered to clean a room for me if I would wait 15 min for them to clean it. The room in question looked like they had just kicked somebody out of that had been actually living there. I declined. Don’t tell me you can quickly clean a room that had been lived in within 15 min.

Not one to write reviews however this place has left me with so much to say. The front desk staff appeared to be under the influence. He couldn’t remember that he had put the room key in his back pocket. He had a pink eye and keep touching while he was holding my credit card and I’d. Our room was not ready, they give us a second room that smell like smoke. When we finally got our room, the pillows were dirty they had stains the appeared to be saliva from the previous guest. The sheets were dirty, they just made the from the last guest. The mattress had holes. Outside there were people sleeping that appeared to be under the influence as well. I will not recommend to book this place no matter how desperate you are, we learned our lesson.

It was close to the beach. Able to take the trolley.

Place is understaffed and overworked. One maid and one front desk person to handle everything. Both were very nice and tried to be accommodating. I arrived at 5 pm to check in. Was told to go to Room 119, the room number of which is not marked. Assigned Room 112. Found it had not been cleaned. Went to front desk to ask for a set of clean sheets and towels. I changed the bedding myself. TV did not work. Someone came to fix it around 7:30 pm. Guests next door had their TV on very loud until after 1:30 am and back on again at 5 am. No way to report this to anyone. Office is open from 12 noon to 9 pm only. It felt like the employees were staying at the hotel and using the tables on the patio to stack their stuff up on. (It appeared they had quite a few maintenance staff just sitting around on the steps outside, which felt very unprofessional.) Bed was horribly uncomfortable. Sheets had holes in them. We did not use the shower. We had planned on staying two nights but cancelled the second night. This was the hotel stay from hell. We never slept and left at 6 am. When booking, I thought “boutique” would mean special in some unique ways. There is really nothing that makes this facility stand out except lots of mismatched furniture, making it more bohemian than boutique. No toiletries either.

The staff were very helpful and I really enjoyed the garden areas around the hotel.

It’s a bit dated but if you want a proper old school SoCal experience with real world charm that you can only get from 1930’s ish architecture then this is it. Hadn’t seen a roach or tweaking person yet but I’ll report back if I do! Seems like the guest welcome folks who work here have been great! Fresh towels, yeah, no cable and I’m only here for a night. Overall convenient location and good enough for peak season stay

Parking lot was very small and too far from room. Room smelt like beer. Smoke detector was flashing bright light all night. Was not worth the money. Worth half of what I paid. Guy at the front desk, I assume was the owner, offered to help me take my luggage to the room. He was very friendly and helpful

The room was extremely dirty, the bed sheets were stained, the towels were dirty and worn out. The room in the pictures on expedia was not the room provided.

There was absolutely no parking. The closest I was able to park in my entire 3 day stay was a full block away. The office hours of noon-9PM wouldn't have worked for me, but were not observed anyway. So, getting a word with the manager was almost impossible. The 3 times I tried to call the office the day prior and twice while I was checked in were not answered. This was, overall, the absolute worst experience I have had in a room I've paid for. To top it off, I had family in a much nicer hotel and they were paying half the price. I asked multiple times to be able to cancel my reservation and the manager never did give me an answer. I ended up staying at different hotel the last night, despite the fact I'd paid for the night, because I couldn't get anything from the manager.

The air conditioner did not work. And this was the hottest day in San Clemente since last summer.
The room had been carefully cleaned. The staff was very pleasant.
The venetian blinds were difficult to control because the cords were tangled.

When we arrived at the hotel, the room was not ready. The electrical wires were running across the floor. They said they were trying to fix the TV I asked for the keys so I could take a look but the door was open. We never checked in, we left immediately. Please do not charge the card I will be disputing the charges.
Thank you

The room was filthy, sheets had fresh stains, hair and crumbs on them, never washed. The room smelled like an ashtray. Broken window, no remote for the tv, no coffee makes, ceiling fan did not work. I would rather sleep in a dumpster. We ended up driving home and never slept in the room.

The property doesn’t look AT ALL, the way it shows in pictures. It felt unsafe and the room was so dirty that we didn’t even stay the night there, we left.

The SHERRIF DEPARTMENT TOLD US TO LEAVE AND WE DIDNT EVEN STAY ONE NIGHT. AND NEVER GOT A REFUND.
BOTH YOUR MANAGERS, GIRL BEHIND THE DESK, AND THE BLONDE GUY SAID I WOULD GET A REFUND AND I DIDNT .

Service was below average, we were not even given the room we reserved online. There were stains on the bedding, and the overall cleanliness of the room was bad. We were in the hotel room for a total of ten minutes before deciding to leave and book a different hotel; we did not even want to sit down on the bed in the room. Also, there was trash scattered all over the hotel property and an overall eerie feeling.

Both rooms were filthy and were never cleaned from the prior guests. The room I actually got in the sheets until went to the restroom. Cockroach in the kitchen.

Staff is very friendly I just recommend they pay an outside service to do a deep clean and for them to buy new linen as blankets/ sheets , and mattress cover were atrocious .. if I didn’t bring blankets and sheets I would of legit slept in the car

Sorry to say the room that I was given, was very dirty. First of all the reservation I made was with two queen size bed. The room they gave me was only one small bed seem like it was a full size. Covert was blue dirty with white spots, sheets and pillows were not changed, toilet had drop spots inside. Very disappointed 😔 end-up going to a different hotel. Went back to office but they closed left dropped card inside box outside office. Please refund my money. Thanks
