We were there during Hurricane Helena, Staff could not have been more helpful not only to the guests but the families who came who lost everything and needed a hot meal, bottled water and a roll of TP. A strong community spirit when everyone was reaching out for comfort and basic needs and the hotel accommodated everyone for many days.

Check in and out was easy. The gentleman that checked us in was super accommodating and friendly. The Prime Rib buffet on Sunday night was superb.
The motel is old. Our room (228)was very small and had a funky odor. Toilet seat has issues with staying in place. Very annoying. Shower very difficult to operate. There were no drawers for clothes. Only a closet. Would only recommend for a night or 2. Enjoyed the back patio with fireplace and TV. Never saw any staff in the afternoon or evening on Monday. Motel was slow so may be why. No service available.

The stay was short but very comfortable. The room was very clean, quiet and tastefully decorated! We really enjoyed the prime rib buffet out on the cozy and inviting back patio area. The price of the room was great in comparison to a regular hotel and so much better because of the ambiance! We will be recommending this place to friends and family!

Beautiful old historic hotel in the heart of Black Mountain.

Beautiful 1920s era hotel, with vintage crystal doorknobs and they still use old turnlock keys! I felt like I was visiting the beautiful Lakeview Hotel from Silent Hill 2 in its heyday.

Great location and great food and bar area!

This is not really a fully functioning hotel. The current owners are living on the past efforts. Hotels.com should not list this property. There was no food service (as advertised). No breakfast either. The A/C air ducts were pouring out dust. Very poor upkeep. I could go on but this facility is one step from a total knock down.

Always a great place to stay

Loved that there was no electronics (t.v.,phone,clock radio) in the room. Enjoyed having my morning coffee on the large front porch with rockers. Hotel is walkable to all the cute shops in town. Lots of natural light through the room. Floors are old wood floors, so yes they creak, but that’s what they are suppose to do. Will definitely go back.

The staff were very courteous and helpful Property very nice.

Exceptionally clean and well maintained for an old hotel. It was quiet, and close to the town- we walked to dinner and breakfast. Would definitely stay again!

Nicely located, close enough to center of town for a nice walk to places to eat and far enough to avoid the noise.

Very comfortable, friendly staff, however the bathrooms were not clean enough, cleaning should be very detailed please, there was urine smell coming out of the bathroom.

My first comment is that there wasn't an elevator for the upstairs floors and the floor to the annex was uneven with little ups & downs. Also, in coming up the handicapped ramp out front, there wasn't a connection to to porch. You had to come in through the uneven surface of the event/sunroom.
My other comment was that the first room that I was given reeked of smoke (not their fault) and they quickly gave me another room upstairs and carried my suitcase up for me.

The room did not have a television, which I assumed was a standard room thing, so was disappointed & the floors were very noisy. The rest of the hotel was very nice and nostalgic.

My stay was wonderful, from the minute I checked in, until I left. Staff was very welcoming and assisted me getting up a few stairs with my walker and bags, Ate dinner on the patio. Had a wonderful server, Wisteria, who was very attentive. The tomato basil bisque was delicious as well as the shrimp and grits. For dessert I had a different kind of carrot cake-not the usual one. Ate breakfast there also. I would stay there again if I was in the area. It was right in downtown where all the shops were within walking distance,

No TV, girls not very attentive at front desk, walked too far for handicap parking

The hotel is very quaint. The staff was amazing in every single way. Everyone was awesome. Great location. We ate at the restaurant and it wasn’t that good but we were impressed how accommodating they were with my husband who got sick and had to stay at the hotel. Will come back next year!

It was wonderful time! In walking distance from the downtown. There was a BBQ cook off and music at the casebook the property! The Romano the first floor give that older vibe which we love! The rooms on first floor is spacious and big. There’s no tv in the downstairs rooms. But it bears walking up the stairs bc there’s no elevator. Overall 5 stars

We are frequent travelers and went for a couple's night away. They have a place that could be lovely, but they are missing many things. On check out, drop the "people steal our keys" and have people sign the key waiver without the comment that makes you wonder if others are still walking around with your room key. The room was so cold (no thermostat) that we literally were freezing (avoid room 4 or bring a parka). No TV of telephone is fine, but no hangers in closet? Really? Food was good but service was very poor and people were loud and drunk outside our room until 11 PM in courtyard. We wanted to sleep in, but awoke to a fire alarm at 7:10 AM on Saturday. Apology, no way! They are invested in explaining why things are, not fixing them. This is my first negative review in years.

Cute, but could use a few upgrades.

Nice, clean older hotel, a quick walk to downtown Black Mountain

Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Facilities a little tired. Small bathroom.

The room was very small, doors were thin, bathroom fan didn’t work and window could not be opened even though it had a rotating handle. But honestly that was all small potatoes. This was a pretty good hotel and was definitely worth the money. It offered high end and low end rooms and we got a very cheap one. But if all you need was a clean place to sleep, this is perfect. Restaraunt had very good food, bar had very good drinks, staff was friendly. The location was just outside the town center but it’s a small town, so it was very walkable to everywhere.

I was unaware ther was no television in the room an I had hoped to watch some of the olympics

I loved everything about it!

We stay here regularly with family nearby. Location is great for enjoying Black Mountain. Front porch, lobby, backyard areas very welcoming and nice. Rooms need updating! Outdated plumbing produces no water pressure and irregular temperature. Toilet seat was very loose, which I would have reported, except that the front desk was busy.

We loved our stay and would definitely recommend this sweet little inn for future stays!

Staff was great. Cool historic hotel with charm.

This hotel has really declined since the last time we stayed here. While we love historic spaces, this one is not being taken care of at all. Room was dusty, the bedspread had holes in it, the ceiling was stained, the shower curtain was disgusting and moldy, the Shampoo and shower gel were empty.
We asked for housekeeping on our second night but never got any housekeeping so we had to dig in the closet to find some towels to use.
The grounds are worn. There are no flowers blooming, and there should be.
We love Black Mountain, but highly doubtful we would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay, found the 1919 vintage hotel comfortable and well maintained. We’ll stay here again. One note, the floors and our bed was creaky, but expected in a 100 year old building.

Like many travelers we arrived in the area after a long drive. Our plans were to attend a show in nearby Asheville. Beginning at the 4:00 check in time, a very loud Caribbean duo began playing right below our room on the hotel front porch and continued for over an hour. This made it impossible to take a nap before our evening plans. The only response from the front desk was a half hearted apology The room's air conditioner could not cool the room and the fan in the closet was caked in filth. We dined in the hotel and an ordered medium rare burger came super well done. They also managed to serve the wrong selected eggs at breakfast. All in all I cannot recommend this hotel.

Loved the rocking chairs on the porch to sit and enjoy the amazing Mountain View. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the specialty drinks at the bar were outstanding.
