Andrew was a great host. Very friendly and very helpful. I had issues with my cell phone and he drove me to the place to get it fixed. He knew all the great places to eat the local food. This was a wonderful place to stay in.

I had a great stay at Candles. Andrew, the manager was very friendly and helpful - the daily bananas were a lovely touch! The place is great value, clean rooms, big kitchen for self-catering. No frills but couldn't ask for more. Also fantastically located for Pigeon Point and the airport. Thanks for a great stay.

I stayed in the dorm (a large one of 20 or so beds) as single traveller - its not for everybody, but was just right for me (being 68 years young); it was not crowded at this time. Had lots of space, and friendly conversations with other single travelers. Cleanliness was not perfect but quite acceptable. Appreciated shared kitchen for self-made meals (including microwave and fridge). Distance to downtown shopping and restaurants is very convenient, to beaches acceptable. Felt safe, even at night. The host is very accommodating, flexible and knowledgeable. Gives rides as needed for a small fee.Only downside: the dorm has no windows - it has permanent openings for ventilation. Three nights a week noise from a bar or disco is somewhat bothersome. Mosquitoes can come in at night, but a mosquito net and repellent help, and in the dry season it is not so bad. A mosquito net is not for everybody, but was o.k. for me.This hotel is in a good location with fine staff for the right guest at a reasonable cost. My main purpose was to stay at a budget hotel for a scuba trip.

Quick weekend trip on a crazy cheap airfare from LAX to check out Tobago. Andrew was a great host! Provided airport transportation and took us on a day long tour of the island. Guest house is clean, basic, safe lodging in good location close to shops, food, and beaches. Great stay!

This hotel lies directly near the heart of Crown Point, and as such it's close to beaches, the main road to Scarborough and eateries and bars. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Internet was stable and fast, but unfortunately came at an extra cost per day. All in all, I enjoyed my stay here and I'd certainly go back here if I'm to visit Tobago again.

Andrew was extremely helpful and friendly; gave me all the information I needed to be able to explore Tobago on my own. For the price, couldn't have found a better deal for hospitality, proximity to the beaches (Pigeon Point, Store Bay) and restaurants in Crown Point. I will definitely be back at Candles next time I'm in Tobago!

The building is located close to the local places of interest - beaches, bars, shops. Overall the building is well maintained but the hostel part is located in the attic where there are openings in the roofing for ventilation that the mosquitos use to come in and bother you. A mosquito net is provided over the bed but sleeping with the net around you feels a bit like a prison and I would rather not need one in my room, the mosquitos did significantly negatively impact my experience in this hostel. Note it is 5 dollars a day extra for Wifi, Wifi is fast and reliable. The owner did offer the service of an enjoyable all day drive around the Island, 75 dollars per person + min of 2 people, which helped with my overall impression of the stay. For a solo traveler with the cost of renting a car for one person, petrol and the hassle of not knowing where to go it is worth considering availing of this service. There are, I think, a dozen beds in the attic and only one basic bathroom so if the place were full waiting for the bathroom could be a pain. No Credit card services here, you have to pay in dollars or else pay in TT dollars at a bank foreign exchange rate.

Andrew was welcoming and communicative before my arrival, he even offered to come pick me up from my other accommodation. I found the hostel to be safe and quiet, however it was too dirty for me and I left after one night for a cheaper and cleaner place. Andrew said he would cancel my Expedia booking because I paid in cash, but he still has not done so. I am therefore anticipating a nightmare exchange with him and Expedia to get the money back that was charged to my credit card.

Andrew really went out of his way to make our stay pleasant and memorable. Guest house layout is charming and kitchen facilities more than adequate. Location is easy walking distance to best restaurants and beach access. Andrew filled us in on the local scene and pricing, and gave us reliable transport
